Adjusting rookie rankings for a 2QB league (1 Viewer)

The FBG rookie rankings are based on a 1QB/3WR league. Other than manually adjusting them, is there a quick and dirty way of adjusting them to give a rough approximation of what the rankings would like for a different system?

For example, I play in a 2QB/2WR league. I could divide the average ranking of WR's by 2/3 (because we start 2/3 as many as WR's as the rankings were designed for) and divide the average ranking of QB's by 2, then resort this list by the new average ranking. Does this seem like a valid method?

Using that rough method, QB's (Manziel, Bridgewater, Bortles, Carr and Savage) would go from 11, 17, 25, 32 and 39 on the rankings to 3, 8, 10, 15 and 18. Does this pass the smell test to you? (Personally, I don't see the first three making it past the 5th or 6th pick myself)

I don't think there's a way built into their system, at least no as far as dynasty rankings goes. That said, I think your method worked out well and was more or less the rankings I came up with for my 2 QB league. Although, on my board for my two 2QB dynasty leagues... I have the QBs organized a lot differently in terms of whom I like best. But that's sort of irrelevant to your question.

I play in a QB flex league and Brigdewater, Manziel, and Bortles went 1.3, 1.4, and 1.5. Carr fell to 3.4. Tom Savage went 3.5, Logan Thomas 3.9, and Mettenberger 4.10.

In a 2QB league, I would not expect the big 3 QB's to make it out of the top 7. It would be no surprise if Carr went late first round. The remaining QB's would likely go a little higher than in my league.

Superflex in progress and we had Manziel 1.4, Bridgewater 1.7, Bortles 1.9, Carr 2.1. Was pretty surprised they dropped that much; hangover from last year I guess. But was glad to get Bridgewater despite having 0 need at QB.

:goodposting:

in a 2QB/QB flex league, i think the big 3 go off the board right after Watkins/Evans, and there's an argument for them before Watkins/Evans depending on trade value/scarcity of QBs in your league. I wouldn't reach for Carr, etc because the chances of hitting after the big 3 are very low.

I believe people completely overvalue QBs in a weak QB draft in 2QB leagues. For example, no way in hell should Blake Bortles go in the top 3 of this year's draft regardless as to whether you start 2QBs or not. I just don't see the QBs in this draft being worthy of such a high pick, even in start 2QB leagues.

The Rookie 1.05 poll currently has Blake Bortles in the lead for that format (Start 2 QB Leagues), and Manziel and Bridgewater were previously selected.

I do encourage everyone who plays in this type of scoring format to take a minute and vote in the polls, as it helps to gauge the perceived values for the incoming rookie class.

I disagree by a long shot. Sure, in a 1QB w/ Superflex league they sometimes get overvalued. But in a required 2QB league? Not even a little bit. Even in a 10 team league, some people are going to get lucky and have say RG3, Russell Wilson and Aaron Rodgers type of staff. Sometimes there aren't enough QBs to go around to even have 2 starters. QBs are at a huge premium in those leagues, one could argue that Watkins and Evans should go after Manziel, Bridgewater and maybe Bortles in a 2QB draft.

Just saying your chances of drafting a bum at 1.3, 1.4, or 1.5 go up exponentially by drafting weak QBs that high. I'd rather draft a stud at another position and get lucky off the WW for my QB #2, than waste a top 3 pick on a weak QB class. Now if the QBs are somewhat decent, then yes, by all means draft a QB that high.

And I'm sure NFL teams would love to not waste a first round pick on Teddy Bridgewater, Blake Bortles or Johnny Manziel either and instead get lucky on the UDFA market for their starting QB. Unfortunately, that's not how things work. There is no QB on the WW, not one that will start at least... even in my 10 team 2QB dynasty league the best QB on the wire is a toss up between Matt Flynn or Kyle Orton. So good luck getting your "QB3 on the wire" in any league other than maybe an 8 teamer.

There is no waiver wire in my league, so that further complicates how high they'll go (and for what it's worth, Flynn and Orton are both currently on rosters, as are several QB3's ... and I mean 3rd on a team, not FF QB3's).

Based on positional need, I project the QB's will go 1.01, 1.03 and 1.06, with Watkins, Evans and Sankey wedged between them. I'd also expect Carr and Savage to go 2.01 and 2.03 since those teams are desperate for QB's (each only has a single starting QB at this time). But that's neither here nor there since I'm looking to see where their value is, not necessarily where I should expect to draft them.

Why play in 2QB leagues? Especially if that 2nd one is so hard to find. Seems like too much emphasis placed on one position.

because there's like 15 FF QB1s now and another 7-12 viable FF starters if you want to stream based on matchup. Passing explosion has made too much depth for the traditional 1 starter to be challenging in drafts.

In a straight 12-team, 2 QB league, there are no QBs on the WW. They are also tremendously valuable. The smaller chance that Bortles (or Manziel/Bridgewater) turns out to be top 10 is more valuable in regards to a VBD baseline, than the larger chance of a Watkins/Sankey/Evans type. The startable QB baseline goes way down, both in a point total and a PPG. Instead of a Manning giving you 5 more PPG than Romo, you're getting 15 more PPG than Flacco.

Doesn't it make sense to set the maximum number of allowable rostered QBs to a much smaller number in start 2QB leagues? That way there isn't such a scarcity and too much emphasis on one position?

i think roster limits per position are terrible. people should be able to compose their roster how they want to - it is a major tactical part of fantasy football

Normally I would agree with you, but I think in 2QB leagues you need QB limits,, because you should never have a league where you can't start an NFL starter at QB because the league hoards them all. At least with RBs you can start a COP guy that can suffice. So, I disagree with you on this one.
