per Rotoworld:

Adrian Peterson will undergo an MRI on his injured ankle on Monday.

Peterson admitted that the ankle "started to throb" shortly after he "got (it) rolled up in Sunday's win over the Redskins. "Trust me, if I could have went, I would have been out there. But it was just unbearable," he added. Peterson also wrote on Twitter Sunday evening that "My ankle is doing ok! I'll know more tomorrow! After I get a full evaluation!" Nov. 28 - 5:53 pm et

Vikings play Buffalo next week, so Gerhart would be a popular pick-up if AD isn't able to go.

Toby Gerhart confirmed that he suffered a shoulder stinger in Sunday's win over the Redskins.

Gerhart played through the injury, missing just one snap. Although the rookie may be sore this week, it won't cost him any time. Gerhart is a must add while we wait for a timetable on Adrian Peterson (ankle).

Gerhart is the shark move, get him now. Nothing official, but I am calling AP misses two games, no source just looking over replays of the injury.

I don't know why Florio said that all indications are AD will play next week... he's still scheduled for an MRI tomorrow. :(

Hope he's o.k.

I was so close to picking up Gerhart this morning as insurance but didn't for some stupid reason.

With the tone of that twitter ... I wouldn't be surprised at all if his season is over.

I've got AP in two of my leagues and would be crushed if he misses any time. In one league Gerhart is already owned and in the other league I opted to pick up Jason Snelling over Gerhart on waivers and will likely not have a high enough priority to get him now. Very stressed and hope that AP's alright.

The Vikings lack of a playoff hope may have an affect on this....
I was thinking the same thing. Frazier obviously needs his best out there since he is playing for the full-time coaching gig next year, but with the playoffs looking highly unlikely, the team may not want to further risk their franchise RB if it's not necessary.

Vikings | Adrian Peterson to be evaluated Monday

Mon, 29 Nov 2010 07:15:35 -0800

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson (ankle) will have his injured ankle examined Monday, Nov. 29, according to Chip Scoggins, of the Minneapolis Star Tribune. Peterson could not return in Week 12 after injuring the ankle during the game. "I would have tried to go out there, that's just the mentality that I have," Peterson said. "Trust me, if I could have went, I would have been out there. But it was just unbearable."

Don't like the statement by AP that it was "unbearable"

Arrrhhhh.

Always something. Injuries are a killer this time of the year....especially to a top dog like ADP.....oh well. Whats new.

Just listening to Sirius and the initial word from the AP camp was that he would be ok, but was still without results from MRI.

My $.02 is Gerhardt gets the most of the juicy matchup against Buffalo.

Well the initial reports are optimistic-

Adrian Peterson (ankle) is expected to be available for Sunday's game against the Bills, according to Profootballtalk.com.

We don't have the results of Peterson's Monday MRI yet, but this is clearly a step in the right direction. We can rule out a high ankle sprain, meaning Peterson would be sidelined for 1-2 weeks at most. Peterson is currently fantasy's No. 3 overall running back behind Arian Foster and Peyton Hillis. Not a HAS - definitely counts as good news.
Not to be a negative person on ADP, but actually if you read the article that Rotoworld referenced, there is nothing that indicates that it is not a HAS. I think this is RW's spin...which doesn't seem to be based on any factual info at this point. Even the point about "we're told" - there is no reference as to who is doing the telling. Is this ADP? A team source? Doctors?

You make a good point. I suppose my post should read "Not a HAS - would definitely be good news" instead :nerd:

Wheres the proof of the NO high ankle sprain? I have seen none yet, and they have not even had the MRI yet so who really knows?...and when your in that pain and not able to come back in...what makes you think he would be ready to roll in a week? Hmmmtoby is the starter this week for my 2 cents.

This is premature. The MRI results have not been released yet unless Profootballtalk.com are tight with the doctors who performed the MRI. Just stupid.

Sprained ankle:

http://fantasynews.cbssports.com/fantasyfo...adrian-peterson

AP has sprained ankle: Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier said Monday that RB Adrian Peterson has a sprained right ankle, the severity of which is not yet known. His status is up in the air for the Vikings' Week 13 game vs. Buffalo. Peterson had his ankle rolled up by a Redskins defender during the team's Week 12 win at Washington. Toby Gerhart would start in place of AP with Albert Young likely backing him up.

This is ######ed ... The only factual thing that we have to go on right now is ... AP could not go back in because as he said the pain was unbearable.I am expecting the worst (out for the year) and hoping for week 15 & 16 ... If those weeks even matter to me

ESPN's Adam Schefter seconds a Profootballtalk.com report that Adrian Peterson's ankle injury is not believed to be serious.

Schefter hinted on SportsCenter that "All Day" didn't reenter Sunday's game mostly because the Vikings had a lead and rookie Toby Gerhart was playing well enough to win. Gerhart, however, suffered a late-game shoulder stinger and isn't guaranteed to return for Week 13. Minnesota hosts Buffalo next.
Slow your roll on Gerhart

Although Schefter is a very reliable source, he's been wrong before. We still do not know the results of the MRI and everything will depend on that.

Wait and see on Peterson

Judging from the approach Vikings interim coach Leslie Frazier took in discussing Adrian Peterson's sprained right ankle during his news conference Monday, it sounds as if we might be in for a week of "will he or won't he play," Sunday against the Buffalo Bills.

Frazier confirmed he has been told Peterson suffered a sprained ankle in the second quarter in Sunday's victory at Washington -- that was the assumption once Peterson left the game and did not return but Frazier said immediately afterward he had not been given a diagnosis -- but added that the MRI was not complete.

"We are still going through the process and just trying to determine the severity of it," Frazier said of Peterson's injury. "We’ll probably learn a little bit more, probably on Wednesday when we come back and just see what he can or can’t do."

Frazier does not know if Peterson actually has a high ankle sprain, which would be considered worse than a standard sprain. One issue for Frazier will be Peterson's likely attempt to play Sunday, even if that might not be in his best interest.

“We had a little bit of that yesterday," Frazier said. "He wanted to get back in the game. He’s coming up to me. Of course, I don’t know, I’m keeping up with what’s happening on the field and what’s going on there. I just got our trainer to fill me in on where he was. They just said, ‘Nope, let’s hold him.’ That’s what I’ll do again. I’ll defer to our trainers, they’ll tell me when he’s ready to go.”

"That knee was acting up a little bit," Frazier said. "On Friday, he really wasn’t pushing off the way we needed him to. I just thought it wouldn’t be wise to try to get him on the field and go out and perform. We were counting on him up until that point.”

Couple thoughts here the local word is that no one has ruled out high ankle sprain for AP. The word on the street is Gerhart is fine and good to go this week (he finished the game this week) I think the Vikings are not going to tip their hand to Buffalo on who the starting RB will be. I still think AP misses 1 to 2 games, Vikings have nothing to play for and AP is their most important player. I know a lot of experts are saying AP's ok, but I wait to here that from Frazier and the trainers.

Anyone see a possibility of shutting him down if it's a HAS? Like people have said, they have nothing to play for and Gerhart played well in relief of AP and would benefit from getting some game experience. We can see the writing on the wall that Favre is probably gone so they have to think about the future and AP is definitely the most important piece to that equation.

Of course, depending on the severity. No matter who the coach is they aren't going to Michael Turner him in a desperate bid to reach .500 by the end of the year.

they will play him if he is reasonably healthy ... there is a concerted effort to get the vikings a new stadium in minnesota and they rely on him to fill seats ... also I am a minnesota fan for the other major sports and we have a tendency to be fairly fair weather

I'm honestly worried here. I don't like the way this is being handled. This is too sketchy for my liking. If Peterson is done it will certainly be a big blow to my 11-1 team. At this point I am praying that he can play by week 15.

Yup and you'll get bounced in the first round! Oh and keep us updated on your team if you can we are all awaiting your title run.ADP hopped off, not limped, hopped...big indication of the seriousness, hes done for at least a couple weeks. IMHO

They also showed him running in place on the sideline and then jumping around wildly when Favre made the game clinching run for a 1st down. I wouldn't be surprised if he missed one week, but I would be shocked if he is done more than that.
