Adrian Peterson....time to buy fellas (Dynasty only) (1 Viewer)

Adrian Peterson's value is as low as it will be for the next 3 years. I hate to say it but he's still got talent and if the NFL has shown us anything, it's that talent rules. My gut tells me that we haven't seen the last of Adrian. He's not done. He's suspended. He's not Ray Rice either, he's 29 years old and might be the best physical specimen the NFL has ever seen. I think he will have productive years moving forward. I don't see his value being any lower than it is right now....which is low.

I recently paid a 2015 second round pick for him. Looking at those picks historically they are a crapshoot. I looking at those picks just this year you have guys like Cody Latimer, Jace Amaro, Tre Mason, Devonte Freeman, Terrance West. These guys are anything but a sure thing. Plus they might take a year or two (Latimer I'm looking at you) to develop. I'm comfortable saying Adrian Peterson will outscore anyone in this group in the 2015 season.

I did pay a bit more than I wanted, I think I'd float a 3rd round pick out there for him first. But I was without a 3rd rounder.

Flame away.

I think Adrian will return to the NFL.

I think a 2015 2nd is a fair price, based on his age and the possible immediate production once he returns.

However, in the one league where I own him, I wouldn't sell him for that unless I somehow knew it was the 2.01.... As such, he's a hold.

10 months from now, if he has not yet been reinstated and is not in camp, I'd be surprised.

No good owners are giving up Peterson for even the 2.01.

Keeping him….threw out I was taking offers for the hell of it. Nothing. Which is fine. Would not move him most likely anyway. He plays in NE or DAL next year and runs angry all over the schedule

Why not Oakland or NewEngland??? Indy maybe? He's going to play again. Just like Josh Gordon they will find a way to get him on the field. He's a much bigger star the Gordon. Money always talks.

I have one year of his eligibility left (next year) in a 1 player keeper. He is killing me short term by wasting a roster spot, but I'm holding just in case he winds up on a better team next season. Surely he won't miss this season and the next one.

I'm pretty sure he'll be back but can say, and I'd sig-bet on it, it won't be with New England. They just set themselves up too much (publicly) as the conscience of the league.

I think we can all (or almost all) agree that whichever team he winds up upon will face a huge backlash from their fanbase. It would be immense in New England.

In my 4-person keeper I dealt Lamar MIller (after the Knowshon injury) and my 2015 Round 1 pick for him. If he were to miss the entire year and enter our draft he would obviously be the #1 overall pick. I made the trade with the idea that he plays this year as well. Tradionally stories like this seem to lose steam and go away and I believe after he misses 6-8 games they'll allow him to come back and maybe fine him the amount of money for these games he missed. That was my thinking for this year but even if he misses the entire season he is still the exception physically and should be a top 3 RB on any team next year. After seeing Minnesota to date you almost have to think any team he would go to next season will be an upgrade.

I'm not familiar with Dynasty but given the names you mentioned above I wouldnt be shocked if he outscored all of them combined next season.

What is T-Rich's contract situation like? You may be on to something here

In my 12 team PPR dynasty league, just got Peterson and Big Ben (lost RG3) for a 2015 2nd (projected mid round) and Hurns. Had excess WR and was willing to take the risk of AP playing again.

What about the public and sponsor outcries? Do you think any owner wants a 30 something RB in addition to the public scrutiny and lost sponsorship? ADP may have played his last down in the NFL. Same for Ray Rice. When the public piles on with twitter, facebook, youtube and every other media outlet and the sponsors start to drop like flies, I can see this running players right out of the league.

I don't condone any of the actions of Rice or Peterson, but when you've got Mike Vick still playing in the league and no one mentions anything about his involvement in his gruesome dog-fighting ring, I would think that they will be given a second chance. There's a large number of people out there that feel that mans best friend should be treated at a higher level than a human being.

Wikipedia link to Mike Vick and the Dog fighting

He admitted to sharing in the proceeds from these dog fights. He further admitted that he knew his colleagues killed several dogs who did not perform well. He admitted to being involved in the destruction of 6–8 dogs, by hanging or drowning.
Something tells me that Rice and Peterson could be end up being signed and concede roles as backups at the start of camp, much like Vick. Once the RB1 in front of them goes down due to injury and they produce on the field, the majority of people are going to forget about what happened. Why? Because they'll be helping their team (or your fantasy team) win games.

It's terrible to say, but most likely true.

I think that the outcry will be there. But there is a lot of outcry for a lot of things. I agree there is a chance that will happen. But not bigger than the chance of a rookie busting.

We didn't know if Vick could be a good starting QB after he got out of prison. We don't know if Rice will be a good starting RB after his suspension is over. We can be pretty sure Peterson is still a great if not elite RB once he comes back.

Was offered Doug Martin. I'm thinking about it.
I don't get it. Wasn't Martin going earlier than Peterson in startups even before this incident? Why wouldn't you accept this offer?
Before the season, but Martin has 9 carries for 9 yards on the season.
So a bad 9 carries on the first game of the season against one of the best rushing defenses hurts his value more than being suspended from the NFL indefinitely and a long shot of ever playing again?

Hopefully he doesn't get banned from your league. I hear some people do that.

As a data point, I was offered Peterson for Josh Gordon this week in a keep 3 league.

I turned down the offer because, obvious risks aside, Peterson isn't a huge upgrade over my current starters, Forte and Murray. I am weak at WR, and prefer the relative certainty of having Gordon for the fantasy playoffs.

I took Gordon in the final round of the draft - a longshot that appears to have paid off.

Is now the time to drop Peterson with what Mort was reporting that the Vike are wiping their hands of Peterson? Getting to look more likely Peterson does not play again this year.

Rotoworld:

ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported Sunday morning that it is "very unlikely" Adrian Peterson will play for the Vikings this season.
Per Mort, Peterson is "not in the Vikings' plans." The Vikings initially stood behind Peterson following his child abuse arrest, but they cowered in the face of intense public backlash. Now it appears they're washing their hands of Peterson altogether. Peterson is owed a whopping $12.75 million in 2015 base salary, none of which is guaranteed. He turns 30 next March.

LT on Peterson:

“So how much money is available for Adrian Peterson if he’s able to come here?” Tomlinson asked on KRLD-FM 105.3. “Now if Adrian is willing to take a pay cut to come here and you know you can’t afford DeMarco Murray, then I think having Adrian Peterson here is a no-brainer because you’re going to be able to get him at a cheaper price that what you’re going to be able to get DeMarco Murray at.”
