It's good to get a jump on the competition. After 1 week, who are the worst offenses? Turnover prone, scoring challenged, and just bad...Fantasy driven. We can then match our Pathetic 8 up with actual opponents. Which Waiver Defenses or rostered Defenses play these Pathetic 8? (I just picked 8 as a baseline). Who do you want your defenses facing? This could turn into a real SOS even though its early"

My Partial List

1. Detroit(NFC NORTH)

2. St.Louis(NFC WEST)

3. Cleveland(AFC NORTH)

4. Miami (AFC EAST)

5. Tampa(NFC SOUTH)

6. Oakland(AFC WEST)

7. Cincy(AFC NORTH)

8. Washington(NFC EAST)

8a. Kansas City(AFC WEST)

8b.Carolian(NFC SOUTH)

If you want turnover prone, you have to put Minnesota on there. Biggest fumbling RB + biggest INT prone QB.

If you lose points for allowing yards/points, I'd remove Carolina. They still have an incredible running game and Steve Smith; they might have some INTs but they're not going to be an awful offense for most of the year, IMO.

St. Louis has to be #1 for me. That's just an awful looking team.

Miami, so far, looks terrible. ATL does not have a good D and they just dominated Miami. The Bengals and Broncos don't necessary look like barnstormers, either.

Playing waiver wire defenses this year....dropped Seattle (@ SF) in favor of Atlanta (Panthers @ home).

The best waiver play this week is Haynesworth, I mean Washington, hosting St. Louis.

My second choice would be Oakland at KC. Oakland looked great last night. They would have won with an NFL QB.

Yeah because Russell had a chance to win the game on 4th and 15 and did nothing. And he really should have played better defense against Rivers and Sproles on that final Charger drive. He really let the Raiders down last night

I do like the call to pick up their D for next week. :lmao:

No doubt the 4th and 15 was a great call and great pass. But for 3 and a half quarters leading up to it, he was consistently missing people on short patterns. He could not complete a pass to anyone other than Miller or a RB. And even those sometimes he struggled. When Gradkowski came in for a couple plays it was like - wow - all of a sudden a WR catches a ball and the team moves a little bit. With better QBing, SD would have needed a lot more to come back. The SD defense was not lighting the world on fire, Russell was just jittery. His completion percentage for the game was terrible. Not trying to hate - I could care less about Oakland and only own Russell in one dynasty - just was hoping for a little bit more make it in his make it or break it year.

Agreed with everything you wrote. Russell cant throw a touch pass to save his life. Gradkowski made the passing offense actually look viable. But as long as Russell forces the D to honor the deep pass and opens up the run, and occasionally hits ZMiller in the seam to punish LBs for cheating up, he'll serve his purpose this year.

As far as QBs go, Quinn, Stafford and Russell should still be holding clipboards. They simply are just not making NFL quality reads and passes with any regularity.

St. Louis has not changed much from last year, it's going to be a long year for S Jackson.

If forced to rank them

1. Detroit

2. St. Louis

3. Cleveland

4. Oakland

My jury is still out on about another half dozen teams.

Some of the D's that are available in my league that I'm considering (I have Chicago and I might not start them this week against Pitt)

Oakland vs KC

Washington vs STL

Tampa Bay vs Bills

Any ideas?

But Carolina's special teams could be one of the worst ever. Serious steatment here, I could have returned that punt for a TD if I could have gotten lucky enough to catch it.

I am almost ready to call the Redskins one of the worst 8 offenses in the league, per the original post.

Doesn't really make them a good opponent to plan a defensive waiver wire pickup around, though...they're generally just inept and hideously conservative as opposed to really horrible.

Redskins.

Haphazard, unimaginative playcalling. Difficulty in putting up points last year, and continued in the first game this year. Outscored last year and last week by the Lions. Lost to the Rams last year, and play the Rams this Sunday.

Denver hosting Cleveland could be a shark move. Denver's D isn't terrific, but they showed fantasy potential last week and tend to play well at home.

I think the JETS D vs the Pats would be an excellent play ... Brady spent a lot of time on his back vs Buffalo ..... Rex has the Jets really flying around ... that could be the Defensive play of the week

:sadbanana:

1. St. Louis2. Cleveland4. Miami5. Denver6. Tampa7. Detroit8. Cincinnatti
I was going to say I am surprised no one has mentioned Cinci. While the Denver D, particularly the defensive backfield, is a little better, I can't believe the anemic performance from Cinci. I think things might improve a bit, but I wouldn't be surprised if Cinci remains in the bottom 1/4 of offensive rankings all year and would be very surprised if it could break the top 20 in offense.

I'd say anyone playing NE has a juicy matchup.they were not impressive at all last night.they're a 7pt fave over Jets this weekend and will likely stack the line and force Sanchez to throw.so this might be a good week to use NE defense, but....they can't stop the run.can't defend against the pass..looks totally different from previous NE teams. :sadbanana: :fixed:nice typo.lol

No...Because Russell missed one receiver after another ALL NIGHT LONG! Sorry Bloom, but Russell has to be the least accurate starting QB in the NFL, and that's NOT something that can be taught. A cannon arm and all that escapability will only take him so far....he likely has a full NFL career ahead of him, but most will be as a backup.

So...

1 AFC EAST (Miami)

2 AFC WEST (Kansas City and Oakland)

2 AFC NORTH (Cleveland and Cincy)

1 NFC NORTH (Detroit)

2 NFC SOUTH (Tampa and Carolina)

1 NFC EAST (Washington)

1 NFC WEST (St.Louis)

Quick observations...

Denver has 4 remaining games against the Pathetic 10

New Orleans has 7 remaining games against the Pathetic 10

Atlanta has 5 remaining games against the Pathetic 10

Oakland has 5 remaining games against the Pathetic 10

It's funny everyone thinks Houston will recover, but no one thinks Cincy will recover. I think Cincy will be fine. Denver had a game plan to neuter Cincy and it worked. That's not going to happen every week (even with Marvin Lewis coaching).

AJ and OchoSlaton and BensonDaniels and ?Walter and HenrySchaub and PalmerI see only one position where I give the nod to Cinci. And Cinci played the Denver D this week not Rex Ryan's Jets...

He got sacked once in 54 drop backs. He threw for 378 yards and looked like 2007 Brady at the end. Good luck.

Denver. Aside from that clutch game winning drive by Orton, they looked awful.

They may improve once his finger gets better and Moreno gets more playing time, but as of now they're absolutely terrible.

Washington is one of those defenses that are good in real life but marginal in fantasy.

This is easy...

The RAMS are easily the worst team in football...again. I do not believe we even got to the 50 yard line and were something like 2 for 10 in third down conversions. :bye:

3 things you should do wrt matchups against the Rams:

1) play the opposing defense

2) play the BACKUP RB who is facing them because he will probably run for over 100 yards while the starter drinks gatorade.

3) play their opponent the suicide pool

The "new look" Rams look like the "same old" Rams.

I am convinced that the Detroit Lions were not the worst team in football last year nor again this year. The Lions get a far tougher schedule. Since the Lions and Rams do play one another this year we will soon find out in a head-to-head who comes out on top. I'll be seriously considering Detroit in the suicide pool that week.

On the bright side...Bring on Tim Tebow.
