After all the talk this week can Steve Slaton be trusted? (1 Viewer)

Like many others, I am dealing with a dilemma with Steve Slaton. In week 5, he absolutely torn Indy a new one with: 93 total yards, 2 TDs, and 1 catch for 3 yards for a fantasy total of 22.10.

My problem this week which many people are having is all the talk of Slaton hitting the rookie wall, etc. Should I go with him at Indy despite all the talk or start someone like Tim Hightower who also has a relative easy match up at Seattle. Sure Tim Hightower is a rookie too, but he has been splitting time with Edge until recently. The Spin out of Houston is that Slaton has his "legs back," but I'm just not so sure. I do, however, realize he also had a brutal game at home against the Ravens and was playing with Sage R., and not Matt Schaub. But still he ONLY had 7 yards, and only 2 catches for 17 yards! Ryan Moats got most of the second half carries.

I really need this win. What is an owner to do?? What or other owners doing? Stick with Slaton and the potential for major yards Rushing and Receiving and a possible TD or Roll with Tim Hightower who is more likely to get carries and at least one TD.

Good luck this week, everyone!

This is clearly a thread for a different forum, but I'll respond to the first part of the title...can Slaton be trusted? To be fair, he did have a long TD called back against the Ravens. But with the Colts playing improved D, a road game and Green and Moats there to take carries, it might be wiser to go with, say, a guy on a playoff-bound team who definitely has the starter's job.

HIghtower looks to be the better pick out of the two. I'm a Slaton owner at 7-3 so I will play him this week with the matchup.

I would go with Hightower if I were you. I honestly don't know what to expect from Slaton this week so I am actually benching him for Grant who I know will at least get 15-20 carries, including at the goal line. Slaton has hit the wall supposedly and was already splitting carries with Green before then. I just don't know whether he gets his typical split with Green this week again despite Kubiak's assurances that Slaton has his legs back. Plus, the Indy run D is vastly improved with Bob Sanders back so the match up is certainly not an easy one for Slaton this week. I am taking this week to see how Slaton is used to figure out whether last week was an aberration or the start of a trend where his carries start to become more limited. Since you have a good option to start over Slaton I would do the same if I were you.

Trusted? Given last week, no.

However Kubiak has had more favorable things to say about Slaton this week than he did last week.
