Has Reggie shown he can be a full time back? I don't know about that but I do know that NO is paying both of them a boat load of cash. With NO showing how good they are this year the higher ups have to be thinking about spending Deuce's $ at another positiion. Do you think Deuce will be a Saint next year or where do you think he'll be? Also, do you think Bush can handle the load of being a full time back?

My vote is Deuce in New York to join the Giants or Jets.

NYJ has plenty of RB's...I doubt they'd waste money on the RB position..

While NYJ may have plenty of RB's, I doubt they are satisfied with their current RB corps. I think they'll be drafting a first day RB. As a Deuce dynasty owner, as much as i would like to see him leave, and not be part of a RBBC, i doubt he leaves NO.

You know NFL is about managing the cap as well as the talent. We need to know what Deuce's salary bonus was and how much has been paid already. If it doesn't affect their cap too much, they could trade him and use that cap space/$ for another position or draft pick or....

We really need that number. Some, like Mike Williams in DET this year, are just not worth it to move.

Payton has that O firing on all cylinders. If I'm their GM I do whatever he wants.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Deuce gets 2.6 mil base salary next year with a 1 mil roster bonus. That's not unreasonable for what he adds to the team. New Orleans has the best RB combo in the league. Preparing for NO offense is very difficult because the Bush/Deuce combo allows the Saints to show looks that no other team can reproduce, except possibly Philly with Buckhalter playing the role of the poor's man Deuce. There's no reason for NO to change this set-up unless they get an offer they can't refuse for Deuce.

Deuce isnt going anywhere. Hes still amongst the team's most popular player, and signed a 7 yr, $50 mil extenstion in 2005 which included $12.5 mil in guarantees.

Saints wouldn't save any money by trading him next year. They'd actually lose cap room.

Yours and Diesel's posts seem to disagree. Are you missing LTBEs?
we're referring to the same contract. I did leave out an annual 100K workout bonus. The contract's annual base salaries escalate as it goes on, with almost unworkable numbers once we get into the 2010's, but reasonable #s until then.

interestingso IMO, sake of this thread, Bush has to establish himself by the time Deuce's salary spikes up

Theres no disagreement...Deuce's salaries are reasonable, but he got a 8 figure bonus up front last year. That would all accelerate if he were traded, making his cap hit ridiculously more than the $3.6m he'll cost against next year's cap if hes not traded.

Besides the cap issues, most teams would love to have 2 good starting backs. Injury is always a possibility.

They will both be there next year.
