Inspired by one of my favorite (if apocryphal) Mark Twain quotes, what conclusions are we drawing from the first week of games that will look silly by the end of the season?
The one thing that jumps out to me is all the panic over Gurley and Peterson. Everyone seems convinced that they have two of the worst offenses in NFL history, and both backs are doomed to endless weeks of 17-31-0. First of all, they've both always shown tendencies to be boom or bust runners. Second, particularly in the case of Gurley and the Rams, there is no way that offense will continue to look as bad as it did on Monday. I'm not saying they'll be good, but they'll figure a few things out. Would I be nervous if I owned either of them? Maybe. But ultimately I think they'll be fine.
