and of course Finley will be up there

The players I don't think will maintain their place on this list are in red, whether that's at their current ranking doesn't matter IMO.

Before looking at the list I assumed I'd see more players I'd expect to fall out of the top group. (I don't know why I chose 15, just seems a good place for the upper echelon in a normal league)

I think Orton can maintain a top 12, maybe even top 6 ranking, but what is up with Brandon Lloyd's resurgence?

for real:

Santana Moss

McFadden

Darby - if Sjax misses a fair amount of time.

Orton

Hillis - Cleveland has a good O-line, perhaps one of the best in the NFL..Harrison blew his opportunity, and the job now belongs to Hillis...

L. Tomlinson..used to be a Greene backer, but now I'm convinced he's a year (or two) away..

anyone else have an opinion?

whose cold start is for real and who will bounce back this year?

Santana Moss will stay. No running game and only Cooley to split targets with.

I dont think Nicks will stay top 15. Manningham, S. Smith, and Boss are all worthy of targets and Nicks TD pace will obviously slow down.

So you think Collie will continue to rack up double-digit catches?

I have him in one league, so it'd be great if he did, but there are so many weapons on that team, and some of them are banged up, so you have to wonder what the deal will be when everyone is back.

I'd say Orton, Clayton, & McFadden are legit.

I can't see Sanchez remaining a startable option.

I'm skeptical about Hillis, he has 5 more games vs Pitt/Balt/Cincy, and a coach who could really mess things up for him.

I think he can be Peyton's Welker-lite. He won't be the top WR but top 15 for the year in PPR is quite attainable.

If SJax misses significant time then Clayton stays where he is.
Even if SJax doesn't miss significant time I say Clayton is for real, mainly because Bradford is just that good.
a rookie QB and a WR who in 5 years only has one where he looked decent, doesn't make me confident. But I do think he'll continue to have some nice games.
Bradford's much better than your run of the mill rookie QB. Sjax's presence will keep the defense honest. Their schedule is very easy. Plus their other weapons are OK enough to have to account for them (Amendola, Robinson, Gibson) but not quite good enough to steal significant targets from Clayton. In a 12 team, start 3 WR league, Clayton is a must start. And this is coming from someone who was a total Clayton non-fan for his entire Ravens career.

favre will struggle all year. no surprise there.

flacco will bounce back.

I'd like to think Palmer will too.

benson will creep up the list a bit.

LT will get up there too. he's getting better every week.

fitz will struggle as long as anderson is in there even worse if max hall takes over.

desean jackson will finish #1 as long as vick stays in there.

marshall will threaten top 5.

nicks is going to drop like a rock.

he's certainly startable in a 12/3 league, but that's top 36 not 15.

The OP left off TE's for some reason, but Tony Moeaki is for real.
Man, that was a sick TD catch yesterday. To me TE is a tough one to predict top ten this year, because there are a lot of good ones around right now.But it will be fun to see if any of the rookies off to a good start - Moeaki and Jermaine Gresham (16th TE) and Hernandez/Gronkowski in New England - can keep up the pace.

Only two I 'heavily' disagree with here are Palmer and Nicks.Palmer has that look that he had at the end of last season again. I think his arm's spaghetti at this point. As to Nicks, last season he had a catch % of nearly 64%. This year, he's averaging 8 targets per game, but only catching at a 54% rate thus far(that still would prorate to 70 catches). I expect those per-game targets to remain in that range going forward and his catch% to creep up some. Even at a 60% rate he'll probably be somewhere in the neighborhood of 75+ catches and have a shot at double digit TDs. This Giants offense is a pass first, or at least a 'pass equal', outfit now, folks. May as well embrace it. 3 games in and they've put the ball in the air over 100 times. Their defense isn't exactly instilling fear in anyone from where I'm sitting either. Where there's smoke.... They are going to be forced to throw more often than they would like, methinkst. Nicks, Smith and Manningham will all benefit.

Can Keller keep it up?
Definitely. Fantastic talent, and New York was talking all offseason about how he was going to be a big focus of the offense. I've been a Dustin Keller fan ever since his rookie year, and it's nice to see him putting everything together.
Thanks for the insight on his prospects for this year. I got lucky and got him off the WW a week ago Saturday because Witten's byeweek was coming up (week 4). Now I'm thinking I'll plug him in as my starter every week.

I own Keller in most of my 7 leagues, but I'm a big proponent of the Stud TE Theory, so I've got Gates (x2), Clark (x2), and Finley (x2) in 6 of the 7 leagues. In those Keller won't sniff my starting lineup all season except as a bye or injury replacement. In the 7th league I've got the same situation as you- Witten and Keller. I'm probably going to keep Witten as my starter for now. I think Keller will finish the season top 10 pretty easily, but I think his current #2 ranking is obviously too lofty to maintain. It'll take a few more big weeks before he pushes Witten to my bench.

I tend to agree... he is a maturing QB with a lot of weapons. Could be a nice buy low after this week, assuming he struggles against Pitt. After that his schedule looks pretty good (Pitt again but not until week 13, and he should fare better against Cin next time as well) and his playoff schedule has some nice upside as well.

Witten has never been a redzone target or at least the Cowboys haven't used him there. I guess you like Witten's potential for more targets than Keller going forward?

Had totally missed Pettigrew's performance so far until I saw his name in this thread. I own Scheffler in a couple of leagues and I was (and still am) feeling pretty good about him as a very inexpensive TE #2, but now I'm looking forward to see how the Det TE game evolves over the next few weeks.

Sounds crazy, but this looks like a good opportunity to handcuff a pair of cheap TEs and add bulk to other positions on the roster.

Apologies if I'm hijacking (as if a discussion about handcuffing Det TEs could ever amount to much)

not at all, although I'm far from convinced that they will both maintain top 12ish status.

Yup. More targets, receptions, and yards. Witten had over 90/1000 last year, and I'm willing to bet he tops that 2 TD total this year.

I certainly would not expect both to maintain their current ranking, but if either 1a or 1b finds a way to assert himself over the other in the stat column (and chances are that injuries will be a factor for any two given TEs in the league), it's a cheap and solid reach for points. ... in theory.

McFadden gets a real test this week. Ill be tuning in
Even if he doesn't light up the stat line on sunday, I don't think it means the first 3 games were aberration. All running backs are allowed less than stellar games. See CJ in week 2.

Anyone have thoughts on Boldin? #2 WR so far, clear-cut #1 WR on his team, quickest WR to 600 catches ever, solid QB. He's been top 10 before. Often injured, however.

Do you still stand by your assessment of Witten vs. Keller this year?

I'm starting Witten over Keller this week in my one league where I own them both, although it's a yardage-heavy league, which obviously impacts the thought process. If Keller remains option 1A even after Santonio comes back, I'll revisit the decision.
