Afternoon Snooze in the Office ... Do You? (1 Viewer)

Mister CIA

I struggle mightily at work almost every day, starting around 2:00 PM. I think it's time to give in and grab 20 consecutive minutes of snooze with authority, instead of wasting an hour and a half peppered with 20 individual minutes of the lightest sleep humanly possible.

Snooze matters!

ETA: I meant to start this thread earlier this afternoon, but I dozed off.

Work from home and start at 6:30 AM every morning and usually work til 9 PM. However, I always leave at 11 for the gym, 12-12:30 for lunch and 12:30 to 1:15 for a nap.

I'm 100 times more productive than I'd ever be working in an office.

Never. I have a hard enough time falling asleep in bed at night. No way could I sleep at the office.

A little exercise for you may go a long way.

Not every one is born with the Richard Simmons gene.

Yes sometimes a power nap in a little side room for 20 minutes but I snore like a rabid walrus (I can tell because I sometimes wake up with a sore throat). I imagine my co workers get a good laugh behind my back.

If I get into the habit of running for 2 miles in the morning, I don't need naps. If I don't exercise, I have no energy at all.

I work close enough to home (12-13 minutes) that I sometimes drive home at lunch, take a 20-minute power nap, and then go back to work feel reenergized. Plus, I can eat my lunch at my desk while working, so I don't have to squeeze that in during my 60-minute lunch.

If I took a Xanax in the morning, I can usually sleep for 2-3 hours in the afternoon. All my work is done by noon most days, but I'll hold back some spreadsheets and send them out around 5 so it looks like I've been working on them all day.

At a past job I was in an office with cubicles and got really good at taking a quick snooze a little before 2 while sitting up so it looked like I was still working to anyone that walked by the cube. Then I crushed it those last couple of hours.

At my next job we were at open conference tables and that wasn't possible. I was so much less productive in the late afternoon.

I wish I had the authority now to let the people working under me take a quick afternoon nap. The corporate stooges up above would have no part of it though.

Better thread:

Would America be better off having a 2 hour midday siesta like the Spanish and Mexicans, but working until 6-7pm?

I could easily crawl under my desk for a nap and no one would question where I was. The snoring would give me away though.

But were you born with a Gene Simmons richard?

By 2pm, I have had enough caffeine that I could not sleep if you paid me to. I usually go strong until the kids go to bed and I get a chance to sit down on the couch. Then I am asleep in 5 minutes.

Or the Gene Simmons gene.

I keep telling myself I'll run or swim over lunch. Doesn't usually happen. (but I do get an hour or so in before work)
