AGonzo's replacement (1 Viewer)

With Anthony's injury estimated at 2-6 weeks (I'm guessing he won't play again until Week 7, after IND's bye), that opens the door for one of these two to step up as the WR2 in a high-powered offense. The player between Collie and Garcon who fills that role would definetly be worth a flex spot given the right match-up.

Does anyone, Indy homers, etc. have a feel for who has the inside track to fill in on the right side? Both are young (1st and 2nd yr players) and both are similar size (6'0 ~205lbs).

Whom will get the nod?

Garcon is the "outside receiver" - so he'll replace Gonzalez. I think Collie will play about as much as previously planned.

Peyton will (unfortunately for Colts fans) force it more to Wayne and Clark. I hope I'm wrong and he spreads it to who's open instead of forcing it to Wayne and Clark in double coverage a lot.

The answer is both. Wayne and Clark are the only 2 start options week in and week out.
 I don't think either Collie or Garcon is worth a spot on my short bench. Just not enough rapport and trust to be anything more than inconsistent hit or misses.I presume no definitive updates came out today on Gonzo? Everything seems to indicate 2-6, but the HC was evasive today when questioned. Peyton feels sick "it could be season-ending" because he worked so hard in the off-season and TC (pure speculation after the game, think it means nothing). Unfortunatley, our waivers are due tonight for tomorrow morning, so not sure I can keep him stashed, even though I drafted him around the 6th-7th to be my WR3.

Garcon needed to drop fewer passes in the preseason. I think he and Collie are both unreliable for fantasy terms, but that Collie has more of Manning's trust. The ones to own are still Wayne and Clark.

After the injury, the Colts played both guys on every play - 3WR sets along with Wayne - until the final few time-killing plays. Suggests that talent trumps opportunity here. I have no idea who has more talent.

Total speculation here, but I think I'd lean toward the guy who went to a big name college and was a 4th-round pick (vs. a guy who was a 6th round pick from a Division III school which had never had a player drafted in the history of the NFL).

Tell that to Marques Colston

Colston went to a Division I school.

Jerry Rice didn't go to a Div 1 school.

It was Division I when Rice went there.

Collie and Garcon ended up playing the exact same number of plays. They used Collie in the slot and Garcon as the flanker. So as far as who replaces Gonzalez as the flanker? its Garcon.

Collie had a few snaps before Gonzo got hurt. And IIRC, after the injury Collie lined up in the slot, and Garcon lined up at RWR for every play the rest of the game until the last drive.

Garcon gets my vote, but it might turn out that Manning looks to Collie more often because of his dependable hands. He'll be up against less talented cornerbacks too, and his route running ability is very advanced for his rookie status.
