Ahman Green projections (1 Viewer)

OK, so we all know that Ahman usually has Wedbesdays off in order to recuperate for the week ahead.

With the game being Thursday, will the Packers lean on Verand Morency more to give Ahman more rest?

Also, with Ahman likely to leave for free agency next year, maybe it is a good week to see what Morency can do.

So with Ahman on short rest, Morency emerging, and facing the toughest run defense in the NFL, can Ahman Green put up respectable numbers this week?

I would look for another option. I think Green will resign with GB..

The Vikes run defense is no joke. Plus they can be passed on rather easily so any catch with half a brain would not gameplan the run. Basically you're banking on Ahman scoring - otherwise I wouldn't think anything for 50 yards.

I do think he can a good bit of damage in the receiving game but then he needs to share with Morency and Herron.

How have running backs been doing in the receivng game against Minny? The Jets put it in the endzone last week, but is Morency the goal line back? If there are few yards to be had, and Ahman is not getting the GL carries, there are no TDs for him.

I'd have to look at the play-by-play to know for sure, But IIRC on Morency's 2 TD's he came in after Ahman did the heavy lifting and punched in a couple. Neither were inside the 5 (14 and 22 yds) so I don't think you can say Ahman isn't the GL back.

If Green were the fulltime back for the Pack, he'd do Ok as he's quite adept as a pass catching back.

Unfortunately, McCarthy is following the same road Sherman did in his use of Green. The difference is, instead of Fisher & Davenport siphoning offf catches & carries from Green, it's thw two new guys, Morency & Herron.

Green is not a good play against the Vikes not only because of going against a strong rushing D, but because he'll loose opportunities in the passing game, which is the best chance for him to do some damage.

In their last matchup this year Green ran for 22-55 and I'd expect it to be about the same, maybe a few less rushes/yards. Minn's D averages 20 carries/55 yards/game so I wouldn't expect much at all.

Yeah Ahman is the goalline back, but if you'd seen these two runs, you'd have to say if any GB RB would score, its Morency. These two runs were ones Green would never be able to do. I would be surprised if Green got more than 60 yards.

He'll be playing, essentially, for $1 million.

Holiday bonus: It stands to be a fairly lucrative holiday season for running back Ahman Green.

With 946 rushing yards this season, Green is 4 yards shy of cashing in on the second of five incentive bonuses in the one-year contract he signed. Green received a $250,000 bonus when he hit the 750-yard rushing mark and will receive another $500,000 when he reaches 950 yards rushing.

Coming off major surgery on his thigh, Green signed a one-year, $2 million contract that featured a $500,000 signing bonus, a $150,000 roster bonus, a $1.35 million base salary and incentives tied into his production and availability to the team.

To earn the next bonus - also $500,000 - Green will have to reach the 1,150-yard plateau, which means he'll have to average 102 yards in the final two games. The final two triggers are set at 1,350 yards and 1,550 yards, both worth $500,000.
Unfortunately, I don't have many other options. I'm hoping he's active in the passing game plan tonight.

LOL yeah he's hoping for 1100 yards but theres just not enough running room the next two games. Chicago he might get 100, but not tonight.

Bump for more thoughts.

I am going with Green in the mess despite the Minn defense being pretty tough. PPR I think he adds a good deal of value, as I would expect 4-5 catches and 30-40 yards receiving to go with 60-70 rushing.

If he gets to 100, he'll have earned it.

The TD is a make or break, but if you're considering as a RB3 / flex guy, that's pretty good production.

Just a tough call to make on a Thursday.

(BTW - if you have him, put him in at RB if you have a flex to give you more options this weekend).

GL.

Yeah, I'm rolling with Green too(RB2, no flex), but not my first choice. I have Caddy, in a solid matchup, but I can't take the chance of him not playing or losing carries due to his foot injury.

I'd be happy with 50 yds and a TD.

That has made me switch from Favre to Cutler. I don't want to count heavily on the Packers in this weather in a champioship game. My opponent has Walker as well, so I can hedge any points he may get.
