AJ Green trade (1 Viewer)

Footballguy
10 team dynasty PPR. QB and OP slot. 3wr, 2 Rb, rb/wr, TE.

My team:

Qbs: Rodgers, BB, Mariota

Rbs: Ware, Crowell, Howard, Woodhead, Kamara, Forte, C. Michael, Gallman

Wrs: OBJ, Evans, Cooper, Shepard, Mike Williams, Treadwell, Juju, Reynolds, Dorsett, Carroo

TEs: Rudolph, Njoku, Pitta, Allen

Guy is looking to get Howard and Mariota from me. He is offering AJ Green and wants to know what else it would take. He has the following of interest: Eli, Hoyer at qb (he has Carr but won't include him). Julio Moncrief and Davante Adams at WR. Ingram and Lacy at RB.

Trying to decide if hurting my qbs especially for the future is worth being able too start OBJ, Evans, Cooper and green every week.

Thoughts?

You already have good WRs but Howard is the only RB I like.  I don't see any deal along the lines of what you are talking about that would help your team.

I don't think I make that move for Green.  WR is a huge strength for you already but you have a ton of questions at RB.  I would have to get someone I could reliably start at RB to even come close to moving forward on deal like this unless you can get something else lined up in a separate deal to move some WR for an upgrade at RB over Howard.  If getting Green for Howard allowed you to move other pieces to upgrade on Howard then it would make more sense.

As it stands now I wouldn't be too tempted with that package.

This. You have a good WR corps but a weak group of RB. If anything, you should be looking at trading a WR2/3 to acquire a second good RB.

Your WRs are awesome. Rodgers is a great QB and you shouldn't have to worry about QB for a while now, so Mariota is someone you could use as trade bait.

Who would you rather have start:

RB: Ware/Crowell
WR:OBJ/Cooper/Evans
Flex: AJ Green

or

RB: Ware/Howard
WR: OBJ/Cooper/Evans
Flex: Crowell or Williams

Ingram, Lacy, Eli, Hoyer... none of them are who I would consider "of interest." You're giving up a 2 great young talents at QB and RB and getting a 28 year old WR (when you don't need a WR) and you are selecting through one of 2 past their prime RBs, a QB who might be retiring soon, and a throw away QB...

The only way I'd do this trade if I were you is if I could trade Mariota and C-Mike  for AJ Green and Eli...  I understand C-Mike is IRed, but Eli is likely done in 1-2 years and offers you nothing but a decent backup if Rodgers gets hurt. So IMO those are a wash. Mariota could be a top 3-5 QB in less than 2 seasons. IMO Howard should be off your trading block.

If I were you I'd shop Mariota and a WR around for some young RB depth. Maybe Shepard and Mariota. I'm actually surprised you drafted Mike Williams instead of one of the top RBs... unless Williams fell to you for some weird reason

Thanks for the input! Yea I drafted at 1.07 and Fournette, cook, Mixon and McCaffrey were all gone.

Because of the superflex system I think I'll stick with Rodgers and Mariota. Should be good at qb for the next 3 years at least with those two.

My strategy so far has been to go heavy on wr and qb and skimp on rb.

Wow... Williams at 1.07 is a steal. Nice grab!

In my redrafts I've tried skimping on WR and skimping on RB (either one, not both!). I find that as long as I have a really good RB1, I can kind of play the matchups to have a decent RB2. That seemed to work. Having top notch WRs was great because you were pretty much guaranteed high scoring almost weekly. Also, the career of a WR tends to be longer than the career of a RB. A RB may have 2-3 years of being relevant (of course there are exceptions at the very top) but a WR may have a decade. So in dynasty I can see this as a winning strategy.

If you wanted to go nuts... you could consider taking this trade and adding in Lacy and maybe a draft pick? But I'd see if you could organize a trade with OBJ for some good RB depth first. If your strategy is to skimp at WR then this may not appeal to you. I am just thinking with Eli getting up in age OBJ's value might not be where it is today. Plus I know he wants to stay in NY and NY wants him, which is all great until they sit down and see how far apart they are

I told him I couldn't give up Mariota for what he's offering and now he is just asking about Howard saying that he's willing to part with AJ Green and Lacy. Not sure what he wants yet but if I could start Green, OBJ, Evans and Cooper every week and then piece together Matchups with ware/crowell/woodhead/lacy/Kamara without having to give up my qbs? Hard to pass that up.

Wondering if I can just flip the trade I just made (Howard and Shepard) for Green and Lacy. I think he is looking to rebuild and would give up two older guys for two younger guys.

Agree with you that no way would I trade one of your QBs given this is a super flex league.  I still don't like trading Howard either and I don't see the point to it for your team.

I'm just more partial to Wrs in ppr and dynasty. Not super high on Howard especially on such a bad team.

With Howard (and penciling in Crowell as the other starter) I'm starting one of Shepard Williams ware Woodhead kamara or treadwell in flex.

If I make the trade I'm starting 2 of ware Woodhead lacy Crowell and kamara.

Assuming no injuries for either I'm guessing the Green side scores more pts. But I guess Green and his injuries are a concern of their own.

Interesting. I think if you can get both Green and Lacy for Howard I would certainly do that. If Lacy can keep his weight off he could post RB1/2 numbers. If not, he will be a RB2/3... either way that's not so bad. With those WRs  you'd be pretty stacked and having a guy like Crowell at RB isn't as bad when you have AJ Green as your flex!

If you have to give up Shepard and Howard for Green and Lacy... then you're back in the same predicament you were with Mariota: Giving up 2 premium young players for two who are 28 and might be nearing/over their peak (less true for Green). Shepard's value suffers with Marshall but long term Shepard could be huge

If he wants Shepard and Howard then I would go for Lacy, AJ Green, and a draft pick for 2018.

Crowell/Lacy
OBJ/Evans/Cooper/Green

VS

Howard/Crowell
OBJ/Evans/Cooper/ and one of : Shepard, Williams, Ware, Woodhead, Kamara, or Treadwell

I'd take the top choice hands down

I'd pass on this if I was you. Your RBs would devolve into worse garbage, and you already have some WR lottery picks that could be great.
