(KFFL) The National Football Post reports the NFL league office has sent Oakland Raiders owner Al Davis a letter informing him that he was in violation of league rules when he falsely accused the New England Patriots of tampering with WR Randy Moss, according to league sources. Davis likely will face a hefty fine.

"The NFL is clearly lying and making false statements about the Oakland Raiders. Therefore, this fine is invalid.

Sincerely,

Al Davis."

Whenever the Patriots are involved in any type of NFL rules violation,

they are guilty.... end of convo.

Its hard to believe Al Davis simply fabricated the accusation against New England without some evidence.

You might have convinced me otherwise before the press conference but Davis presented himself as suprisingly lucid and guile despite previous rumblings to the contrary.

My instincts tell me where there is smoke there is fire in this case.

While I find it hard to believe that Al Davis would sit on tampering charges for 2 years. The only smoke is from Al as he tries to obscure his attempts to stiff Kiffin out of his money.

Haven't been around much the past 20 years, have you?

They have to prove he knew it was a lie.

Actually, "they" don't have to do anything of the sort. Good thing too, as Al could simply claim impaired judgement to avoid such a "proof".

Yeah sorry, not buying it. Why would he bring it up NOW, and not back when it supposedly happened?

Just like with all the Kiffin BS, I don't trust Davis, and think he's full of hot air...

Since he made the initial accusation, the burden of proof was on Al. Apparently he failed in that regard. Considering he's facing a possible fine, he failed miserably in that regard.

It is (on AL)to prove the case but citing him for violating the rules is different I think. The Packers accused Minnesota with phone records and the case was just dismissed. They weren't punished for making the accusation.

I suspect the KFFL report (and other outlets reporting it) are using "falsely" incorrectly and instead should be using "baseless". Perhaps the phone record incident isn't considered as baseless an accusation despite dismissing the case and thus no fine for the Vikes.
