n.

1. A psychopathological condition characterized by delusional fantasies of wealth, power, or omnipotence.

2. An obsession with grandiose or extravagant things or actions.
With the firing of Kiffen, we now have another demonstration of Al Davis' mental illness. While some of the conditions for megalomania do not apply to Davis (he isn't delusional about his wealth, he is wealthy), the key word for Davis is omnipotence. Davis is possessed by the delusion that his incredible football genius is the key and source for all of the Raiders' successes.Davis's delusions can be specifically traced to this:

delusions of grandeur - a delusion (common in paranoia) that you are much greater and more powerful and influential than you really are
I know Davis' type. I worked for the president of a company that displayed the exact same tendancies. These tendencies can be summed up like this: Davis built the Raiders himself. He is the reason for their success. The players and coaches are a part of this, but none of Oakland's success would have ever happened without Davis. While Davis pays his players well, he never pays a coach fair market value because, after all, the coach is not the key to Oakland's success.

How many more years will this carry on, with Davis refusing to pay the remaining amount on the contract. The soap opera continues.......
