AL/NL only league question (1 Viewer)

I have interest in doing an AL or NL only league. Keeper or dynasty. But my question is how do you handle player trades out of your league?

Let's say in a NL only league Joey Votto (team A) and Johnny Cueto (team B. ) get traded to the Yankees for Sabathia and some prospects. Do those teams (A and B. ) just lose those players? Do they get the players in return?

My guess is that the teams get those players in return with the team with the worst record getting to choose 1st. What if Votto and Cueto get traded for just Sabathia? Then what? Does anyone do this with AL/NL only leagues?

Players traded out of the league are gone

New players coming in go on waivers
yeah, it sucks if it happens to you but this is the fairest way to handle this event.

The only exception is if your league does an auction and FAAB. You could then add the auction value of the traded player to the team's FAAB kitty. This will probably just drive free agent inflation but at least it's something.

I can create an NL only keeper league if you want. I like head-to-head, though. Maybe you prefer roto.

Auction and $50 and LeagueSafe. If interested let me know.

It doesn't seem fair to lose a player and not get anything in return. Why should the worst team in the league benefit from someone else's loss? And for a keeper/dynasty league...that's rough.

I've got two leagues, one AL, one NL, where all the owners are the same. So, the owner retains rights to the player regardless of league. Not particularly a fan of that and prefer tough luck leagues, but its a different way to go.

Well, often times a player that moves leagues is known to be on the trading block before the auction. For example, in that sort of league you'd be a fool to pay full price for Hamels this season. It can have huge repercussions on the league, but its also part of the strategy.

I played NL-only a long time ago, and our rule was that if you had a player traded to the AL in midseason, you could keep him until the end of the year but not after that. Players coming in from the AL in midseason went through the FAAB process.
