Al Sharpton all the time.Enjoy his greatness! (1 Viewer)

The other day, when the Fort Hood shooting happened, Al Sharpton was on the air. So he had to do all of the Breaking News updates. I bet MSNBC was crapping themselves. They must pray that no breaking news stories happen during his time slot. It was painful to watch.

Keenan on SNL has him down spot on.

One of my favorite parts

Sharpton vehemently denies having worked as an FBI informant. He has alleged that claims of government cooperation were attempts by dark forces to stunt his aggressive brand of civil rights advocacy or, perhaps, get him killed. In his most recent book, “The Rejected Stone,” which hit best seller lists following its October 2013 publication, Sharpton claimed to have once been “set up by the government,” whose agents later leaked “false information” that “could have gotten me killed.” He added, “So I have been seriously tested in what I believe over the years.”

In an interview Saturday, Sharpton again denied working as a confidential informant, claiming that his prior cooperation with FBI agents was limited to efforts to prompt investigations of drug dealing in minority communities, as well as the swindling of black artists in the recording industry. He also repeatedly denied being “flipped” by federal agents in the course of an undercover operation. When asked specifically about his recording of the Gambino crime family member, Sharpton was noncommittal: “I’m not saying yes, I’m not saying no.”

If Sharpton’s account is to be believed, he was simply a concerned citizen who voluntarily (and briefly) joined arm-in-arm with federal agents, perhaps risking peril in the process. The other explanation for Sharpton’s cooperation--one that has uniformly been offered by knowledgeable law enforcement agents--presents the reverend in a less noble light. Worried that he could face criminal charges, Sharpton opted for the path of self-preservation and did what the FBI asked. Which is usually how someone is compelled to repeatedly record a gangster discussing murder, extortion, and loan sharking.

So you were the one who was watching his show?

In the article it talked about him pitching a show to exec's that would have been his version of Judge Judy.

Couldn't be any worse than the one he has now I guess.

Al is about to get a raise over at MSNBC.

He would be wise to get his young lady friend some protection with that extra cash.

This oftentimes happens when the person in question is himself about to be indicted for being criminally involved with the very same people.

That's kind of what I was thinking as well. Al got busted for something, turns informant to stay out of jail or out of the negative limelight.

I'm not a big news watcher.

I only watch when there's breaking news, like the Fort Hood shooter. And when I watch, I'll switch between the three channels as each one goes to commercial break. I just happened to catch him and couldn't stop laughing. He was horrible. At one point, he yelled, "BREAKING NEWS!!! Let's go to commercial!" I can only assume he was misreading the teleprompter some how.

It never really seemed like the reverend was all that interested in civil rights. "Civil rights" was simply the vehicle he used to extort his victims. I wonder what the FBI caught him doing.

Sharpton responds

A defiant Rev. Al Sharpton today responded to media reports that he served as an FBI informant against mob bosses in the 1980s, confirming that he recorded conversations, but insisting the reports missed the mark.

Speaking at a hastily-called press conference at the National Action Network’s headquarters in Harlem, Mr. Sharpton took special issue with the “informant” characterization. The front pages of the New York Post and Daily News today labeled the reverend a “rat” and a “mob snitch.”

“Rats are usually people that were with other rats. I was not and am not a rat, because I wasn’t with the rats. I’m a cat,” said Mr. Sharpton. “I chase rats.” :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Instead, Mr. Sharpton argued that cooperating with the police to help cut crime should be considered a good thing.

“I think it was very interesting that many of us are condemned for not fighting crime and now we’re condemned for fighting crime,” he said. “It is interesting to me, as we deal with the whole criminalization of many in our community, that the premise of a lot of this media is that I should have been with the mob rather than with the government.”

“I’ve done a lot of things in life. Some that if I could do again, I would do differently,” he added. “But in this situation, I did what was right.”

Mr. Sharpton further insisted that the story–reported by The Smoking Gun yesterday–was old news, much of it previously shared in his own 1996 book. The circumstances, he said, were simple: As he tried to increase the participation of black promoters in the music industry for artists like James Brown and Michael Jackson, he received death threats, which he took to police. He was then asked by law enforcement officers, he said, to record the men repeating the threats.

“We had conversations for the purposes of trying to solicit these guys to repeat the threats,” Mr. Sharpton said, describing the music industry at the time as “dominated” by mobster. “The conversations were recorded. And I would record them today if somebody threatened.”

“That is not an informant,” he maintained. “I was never told I was an informant with a number. So in my own mind, I was not an informant. I was cooperating with an investigation,” he said, comparing his participation to his current efforts passing information he’s told to police in cases like the Kendrick Johnson killing in Georgia and his work with police on stop-and-frisk in the city.

He further refuted that he’d met many of the men he was linked to in the papers, including Vincent “Chin’’ Gigante, who reportedly spent years pretended he was crazy to escape prosecution by shuffling around the West Village in a bathrobe.

“I have never met any of these guys in the newspaper. The guy with the pajamas? I don’t walk around with guys that walk outside with pajamas!” he insisted. “I never met him.”

The Smoking Gun story comes just as Mr. Sharpton is set to hold his annual National Action Network national convention, which is expected to be attended by Mayor Bill de Blasio and President Barack Obama–a coincidence Mr. Sharpton said didn’t surprise him.

“We’re used to the attacks,” he said. “The only thing I was embarrassed by was those old, fat pictures. Could y’all use tomorrow’s cover, the new slim [ones]?”

From the article, that guy Levy was the obvious inspiration for Hesh in the "Sopranos". They even cribbed the storyline of Levy attaching his name to the songwriting credits of black artists.

You don't just happen to become an FBI informant without getting caught doing something. He snitched to save his own ask. Oh, and those old pics of him in the track suit are hilarious.

Can't say that I would care if he got Frankie Carbone'd in the back of a meat truck. Guy is a ####### snake....

I don't know how many of you are in markets that carry his show but here he is on WBOK which is a self-described "black" station. Oddly enough he has missed his last few shows.

This just proves what most of us already knew about Sharpton. He is a lying crook. He will do anything to make money or to save his own behind.

Poor Al got moved

NEW YORK (AP) — Al Sharpton is losing his daily show on MSNBC, with the network saying he'll be downshifted to the weekend. The move is one among many changes at the network as it moves away from commentary and towards breaking news coverage.

Sharpton's "Politics Nation" has aired at 6 p.m. EDT on weeknights for the past four years at the ratings-challenged news network. MSNBC is in the midst of wholesale changes under NBC News boss Andrew Lack, deemphasizing its left-leaning programming during the daytime hours in favor of more straight news shows.

Sharpton's show occasionally put MSNBC in awkward positions, since he continued his political activism while doing some stories where there was racial controversy while remaining host of a news program. The show averaged between 500,000 and 600,000 viewers in recent weeks, trailing Fox News and CNN in the key age demographic of 25-54, the Los Angeles Times reports.

MSNBC said Wednesday that starting Oct. 4, Sharpton's "Politics Nation" will air at 8 a.m. Sundays. His daily show ends Sept. 4.

700 am CT on Sundays? That's the tv graveyard. They must've thought he'd turn them down. Ed Schultz was cancelled too I believe.
It kinda surprised me they let him stay in that time slot as long as he did given how bad his ratings were and yes Sunday morning is the tv graveyard.Schultz did get cancelled and he didn't seem too pleased about it because he failed to even show for his last airing.

MSNBC talking about a shift to a more straight based news format has me wondering who will be thrown in to try and save this sinking ship?

His employment tells you everything you need to know about MSNBC and the morons that watch. And it's no coincidence they're phasing him out as his butt buddy Obama's run is coming to an end.

Racist piece of ####.

So folks who watch well respected journalists Rachel Maddow and Chris Mathews are "morons" due to MSNBC employing Sharpton?

I have no idea what happened to Matthews but his show on MSNBC is comical to say the least.Once he is away from his show he acts normal so maybe this is just shtick.Maddow, while I don't agree with her on many things,is fine in what she does.
