Now that the Vikings didn't land LT and really outside of Willie Parker and Justin Fargas I don't see anything in free agency. I see that Young is now the number two rb in Minnesota does he have any value or will they add a draft pick and make him the number 3 rb again. I didn't watch the last Vikings game because it was meaningless but did get a few carries.

until the draft.... they'll most likely get a body at RB.

Childress & Favre both like him

Scooped him up at the end of last year in dynasty leagues as I saw this coming

Even if they bring in a rookie 4th-7th round pick, they'll have to take the 2nd string job from Albert who looked very good in the last preseason

Thanks I own Peterson and was trying to get his handcuff will probably wait till the NFL draft and see what the Vikings do

He looks very good... ( I live in MN and follow the vikes very closely). A very nice stash... get him while others have never heard of him.

I think now is the time to acquire him rather than wait. His value is only going to increase as I doubt a rookie will be reliable enough to protect Brett on 3rd downs. Guy caught 20 balls a season in his 3 as a starter at Iowa. He has some decent hands. Chad Greenway also has been quoted as saying he's an outstanding pass blocker (he would know since he went up against the scout team)...

The Vikes know that if Favre comes back their window to win the superbowl with him is very limited. You'd get this year from him and don't know if you could count on 2 years or not. Chester Taylor has been a good producer for the Vikes when needed but his numbers dropped significantly the last two years because of Peterson. Yet they knew if AP missed any time the had a bell cow in Taylor who could carry the load for them if needed. No FA rb's out there that'd be as good as Taylor. Sproles would require a 1st & a 3rd so doubt they persue him.

The Vikings probably aren't to thrilled with the FA rb's available and seeif one fits their scheme. Most likely they'll look to the draft to get a RB. Maybe a guy like Ben Tate would be good for them but don't know he'd last until their pick in the 3rd round. The way Childress and Favre have talked up Albert Young you'd think he'll get a lot of work in TC regardless of what FA or drafted rb they get. He's familiar with the system now so he would have an edge over anyone else coming in the AP's backup. Hadn't really heard anything about the guy until Taylor was gone. The Vikes only have 2 RB's and 1 FB on the roster right now so they'll be definitely getting a couple more guys.

Who knows, they might have found an unknown gem in Young. If he performs well in TC his stock should rise pretty good but with AP being the workhorse Young's fantasy value will be limited. I hope the guy does well and gets some opportunities to show what he's got. Until the draft or more in FA it looks like at the moment that Albert Young is the handcuff for Peterson.

Fortune favors the bold.

I am an Iowa fan and think Young is a solid young back. He was an elite athlete but had injury trouble at Iowa. I think he could be a decent 3rd down RB. He catches the ball well and pass blocks with effort and smarts. I have always heard he is a great guy, leader, and teammate. I think he could be "the guy" for a game or two but would not be sucessful in this role full time.

I really hope he can be the guy but was quite happy for him to make the team this year. I was honestly surprised as he was a very good college back but I never thought he woulf be able to make it onto a roster. Before the injuries he was exceptionally fast. I personally do not have him stashed on any rosters. I got Greene in everything I could. I hope Young has a long sucessful career but I think if anyone is counting on him they are wasting a roster spot.

That said I hope I am dead wrong. He was a great Hawkeye and I appreciate his effort and the way he handled himself at Iowa.

I followed Young at Iowa because I had him on my fantasy college team, and this matches my reaction to him. He was a good talent, but frustrating to own due to injuries, and I also found him inconsistent production-wise. His production also dipped at Iowa -- peaked as a sophomore.I own ADP in dynasty and opened up bidding on Albert Young last month, but I let him go to someone else when he got into the bidding -- was not worth getting into a bidding war over, as I'm not sold on him as ADP's handcuff next season, but I could be wrong.

I like Albert Young, but as aforementioned injuries are a concern.

He runs with a good pad level, forward lean, and center of gravity. Young knows how to get low and keep his legs churning after contact. A fairly disciplined runner, he also knows how to be patient and set up his blocks in front of him.
