This is a hot topic for me this week too.
In my high stakes Vegas WCFF League I drafted Garrard and Trent Edwards and went very heavy on RBs and WRs which has paid off with a team in the thick of it for 300k. I look at Garrard as my defacto starter unless there's a decidedly bad matchup. I take his bad games with his good ones. When Edwads went down I grabbed Bulger hoping there'd be an emergence. Last week I grabbed Smith as I do not like Garrards matchup at the Jets. With Revis taking away MSW I dont see much here. Edwards has a nice matchup with Tennessee but its hard to trust the guy, the OL, and there's that little issue that he's one crack away from leaving the game at any given time.
Enter the fact that I'm starting Alex Smith this week. Bears secondary has not looked very good as of late. They're traveling to the West Coast for a Primetime game, and while I think they'll contain Smith, I think with his career on the Line (no I don't think I'm overstating this, I think this game is huge for him) in a primetime game, with the development of Davis and even Crabtree and Gore keeping em honest... I'm thinking around 215 yards and two TDs and 1 int seems about right. For me this is a better roll than either Edwards, Garrard, or Bulger.
I'm only stating the above to offer where he fits into my sights for however that may be relevant to you this week.
Going forward, I'm taking a big wait and see... what he shows me tomorrow nigth will go a long way in my opinion of him for the rest of this year. But I have to say... this offense seems to be going in the right direction.
Good luck guys...
