Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Thread (1 Viewer)

Squid is not going to like your post.

AOC in an attractive woman who worked as a bartender but had 2 degrees, that is why she was recruited to run against a Dem incumbent.  AOC was profiled as a perfect fit and had the story they were looking for. If she were short, fat an ugly tending bar they would have never looked at her to run.

AOC is smart, but I agree her ideas are stupid but not sure they are her ideas, she was put in office for a reason.

Had they not found her would she be 10 years in as a waitress?

I am not @squidrope

I think her perceived attractiveness helped (by politicians standards, she is certainly attractive, but pretty average in general IMO; her mousy voice does not help), but it is not unusual for someone in the last decade or so to get their degree and not get a good job right out of college.  I am no fan of AOC, but this idea that she'd still be a lowly bartender or server (as if that is an insult) if not for being put in the right spot by the right people seems a bit unfair.  Plenty of people get ahead in this world because of who they know, not what they know.  That is not new.

You would think otherwise looking at the posts here. According to one guy, with her economics degree she had it made and potential employers should have been beating down her door or waiting in line to hire her.

Well, sure.  You are welcome to bring up examples where I got all hot and bothered about a politician I was convinced was irrelevant in the grand scheme of things.  I'm sure there is a lot of evidence you can use against me.

But again, you spend an awful lot of keystrokes on a person you think is an irrelevant political figure.  Ask yourself why.

"Hot and bothered"?   "Lots of keystrokes"?

Again, weird take in the thread dedicated to her.   Seems like kind of a foot-in-the-mouth comment coming from a guy whose own posting history not only confirms "hot and bothered" and "a lot of keystrokes" over many subjects but also should not be throwing stones in glass houses.

I mean, you sure do get "hot and bothered" over posts about her and then expend "a lot of keystrokes" defending her.  Ask yourself why.  Maybe you think AOC is going to see your post, be overcome with emotion with your defense of her and then go out on a date with you?

I’m a lowly bartender on the side, maybe I’ll throw my hat in the ring.

The day we get good advice from @JIslander is the day hell freezes over and Satan takes over.

Stick to your usual drive-byes and nonsensical "GO TEAM BLUE" posts.  We don't expect much from you so when you try to be witty it never works out and you ruin what little expectations we already have for you.

Wow.  I love you to pal.

When people say she is attractive it is attractive in politics, not day to day life. The females in congress are not exactly the cream of the crop in looks.

Like going to a bar with a bunch of 3-4s, all of the sudden the 6 looks like a 10.

You serious Clark?
Remember that scene in Goodfellas where Karen Hill goes to the salon and narrates how cheap the other mob wives look because of their bad makeup and whatnot? That is what this Tina Fortes looks like. Factor in her potty mouth, and she looks and sounds like she is auditioning for the next Scorsese flick.  She has no chance.

A DC 10 is like a 6 in the rest of the country. Something about this city makes truly attractive people stay away.

Oh, let's be honest.  Nobody wants to go out on a date with me.

June 6th?????

Jesus. This obsession is slipping.

Anyway AOC pretending to be handcuffed is pretty awesome. Have to admire her devotion to the craft.

Absolutely.  Socialist Grifters gotta' keep that grift train moving.  Good thing she ain't that bright.

It strikes me as rather foolish for a member of Congress to protest a judicial decision for putting an issue squarely in the hands of Congress. The sensible way for AOC to protect abortion rights would be to introduce a bill, not to block traffic.

Pretty sure the House already passed that bill?

The Women’s Health Protection Act would enshrine the protections of Roe v. Wade into law. The House already passed the bill last year, but it did not advance in a Senate vote in May. The House passed the bill, 219-210, prompting applause from Democrats in the chamber. All Republicans and Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-Tex.) voted against the measure.”

When AOC was a bartender, what she really wanted was to be an actress and to be famous. If we remember that, much of her behavior makes so much more sense.

Who wears a jacket in 90 degree weather

Ballistic clothing.

At the insistence of her private security detail.

Unfortunately modern American politics has gotten to this point .

For optics, politicians who lean socialist need to spend more time in close contact with large crowds. Also AOC's fund raising pathway is mostly built on small dollar donations. She has one of the most expensive staffing budgets in all of Congress period. And spends the most out of anyone, outside of POTUS campaigns in their cycle, on social media advertising.  She literally can't afford to slow down her social media engagement so she can't afford to NOT be in the national daily media cycle.

Find someone on YouTube desperate to upload their next movie review or political hot take or cooking receipe that is willing to use shock marketing to get more views, likes and subscribes and AOC functionally is no different. She's literally held hostage by her own platform.
