All-Play League (1 Viewer)

I like the idea of a no-schedule schedule for my league, where a lot of luck is pretty much eliminated and you play everybody in your league every week. So in a ten-team league, the 3rd highest score goes 7-2, etc.

I've seen this offered on myfantasyleague.com as an "All-Play League".

Anybody have any experience playing this way and did you like it?

Thanks.

We have played it for the last two years in one league.

I really like it, but most owners are less fond. They like "knowing" what team they play and who to root against.

I like it because with so few games, too much is based on who happened to be matched up against who on a given week.

Yeah, I know "that is how the game is played", but I want a system where the strongest teams go to the playoffs.

Although it approaches total points (rotisserie-style?), I still think it is more fun that total points accumulated. .

Love it. It eliminates "luck" as much as possible schedule wise. Every point counts and instead of just following your opponent you follow the whole league more closely. If you lose 102-100 you can still go 8-1

I play in a hybrid 12-team league using league points.

It's 2 pts for a win, 1 pt for a tie, 0 for a loss head-to-head.

You get 2 points for being in the top 4 scorers, 1 point for middle 4 scorers, 0 for bottom 4.

Works to reduce scheduling luck.

We use doubleheaders every single week of the regular season to marginally mitigate the luck of the schedule draw, but for us h2h games each week provide so many nice competitive benefits that I can't imagine going to all-play...(though that doesn't stop guys with high all-play records from crowing on our league forum)...

H2H keeps a league more compelling & personal, but we use All-Play record to determine the two wildcard teams in our 12 team league. We also give a monetary award to the team with the highest AP record.

It depends.

If I am in a big money league, I would rather the rules tried to eliminate the luck factor from the equation.

In my local cheap money mostly for fun league, there's nothing better than head-to-head matchups against my friends.

I made a proposal to go to all-play in my big money league this year, but I don't think it will pass. I think most of the guys in my league have played head-to-head for so long, it's what they have grown accustomed to. Like a previous poster said, they like just having one team of players to root against. In my mind, other than it not being head-to-head, there are no disadvantages to having an all-play format. We have our summer league meeting June 26, so I will find out then in the guys in my league feel the same.

I wish my leagues would go to the all play format. 3 times in the last 5 years I have had the best overall record, earned a 1st round bye and got whacked by a wild card team.  .
