Allen Robinson....the next Keenan Allen.....get him before he breaks o (1 Viewer)

Jags have multiple reciever injuries as has been well documented. Among these Shorts is prone to constant soft tissue injuries and cannot stay healthy. Biggest perhaps is the loss of Mercedes Lewis who with his height was the best red zone target and security blanket. QB is not Rivers but defense is still ? And running game non existent.....they will have to pass to compete.

Allen Robinson - WR - Jaguars

The Florida Times Union's Ryan O'Halloran expects Allen Robinson to be a "full-time participant" Sunday against the Colts.

Robinson played 32-of-52 snaps last week against the Redskins, but due to injuries (Marqise Lee) and Robinson's understanding of the offense, his role could grow this week. Cecil Shorts (hamstring) is making his season debut, and Allen Hurns is coming off a sprained ankle. Both players may not be able to play the full amount of snaps. Robinson is merely a shot-in-the-dark re-draft option.

Enter Robinson.....6'3 220 lbs his measurables are impressive. Compared to Boldin he is not a speedster but like Allen a good route runner and a potentially good red zone threat with great body control.

Thoughts....,He has opportunity like Allen did last year about the same time. This weeks waivers may be too late.....Allen Robinson anyone?

Not buying into him just yet. I'm sure he's talented, but the Jags are getting killed to the point where even garbage time is futile.

Henne, no other weapons, horrible offensive line, OC Fisch

compare vs

Rivers, his weapons, good line, OC & HC Wiz (last year) and HC McCoy calling plays.

Go.

I think the Jacksonville breakout receiver isn't going to happen till they hand it over to Bortles. Robinson is one to monitor, but to me he's exactly the type of guy waivers are made for unless you have extremely large benches.

I like Allen but you need to include in your report "Henne is benched" for me to go adding.
It's bad when your Oline is so terrible that you don't want to bench your awful QB for a guy who was great in preseason because it gives up so many sacks. Plus, Henne is not a starter.BRING ON BORTLES!

I know Bortles is more mobile and he obviously has a higher upside career-wise than Henne, but why does every thread involving Jaguars players eventually go down the path of "when Bortles takes over the offense will take off"? I'm not seeing it. The line won't start blocking better - and yes I know Bortles is more mobile and will be able to avoid some of the sacks Henne can't - but it isn't like this will suddenly solidify a line that hasn't been able to run or pass block all year. Plus, while Henne isn't the most talented guy, he is a veteran with experience Bortles doesn't have at this point.

The offense will get better, but I'm thinking it will be more slight than many seem to be predicting. And that's not to denegrate Bortles one bit.

This offense will never produce like 2013 Chargers - and Robinson will not be Allen.

That doesn't mean he's not a waiver wire add right now

I agree not SD.....but didn't Shorts flourish here as a viable wr3 when healthy.......Blackmon?

Not much on my wire and had a free spot so added him preemptivey. I think if you want him you have to add him now. Just due to triage he's gonna catch 7-8 balls this week and will be a top add next week. I'd also like to add I know nothing about him. :)

Allen Robinson - WR - Jaguars

Allen Robinson is listed as a starter opposite Cecil Shorts in Sunday's Week 3 game against the Colts.

Allen Hurns (ankle) is active, but it sounds like he'll serve as the No. 3 receiver. It's a monster opportunity for the talented Robinson, as he'll be facing a very burnable Colts secondary. Marqise Lee (hamstring) is inactive, along with TE Clay Harbor, OL Austin Pasztor, CB Jeremy Harris, G Tyler Shatley, RB Storm Johnson and WR Tavvares King.

A good quarterback has pocket presence and knows when to get rid of the ball. Henne hangs onto the ball too long and hence takes too many sacks.

This may be more of a dynasty alert, but he could be solid in redraft as well. Bortles will start games sooner rather than later. In deep redraft he's worth a shot. He may be hard to roster in shallower leagues

Wow. Will be interesting to watch.

I'm starting to think nobody in this Jacksonville dumpster fire is worth owning this year. Even with Bortles.

Robinson should be a garbage time superstar this year.
I was going to say that he only got stats in garbage time.

Fortunately for his FF owners, every minute of a Jaguars game qualifies as garbage time.

looking to potentially add him where ever I can. Just curious what the future WR landscape will be when all the dust settles and everyone gets healthy...you have Hurns, Lee, Robinson and Shorts. Personally, I always like targetting the big red zone type targets with good measurables which he seems to be. He was banged up in the preseason which gave additional reps to Hurns/Lee. How does the pool see this situation shaking out because he could be a beast with some big games because Bortles will throw the ball downfield and they'll be behind in every game and throwing in the 2nd half of all games.

Added Robinson in 2 leagues he was available just 20 minutes before kickoff. I was on the fence adding him anyway, but when it was announced that Lee was inactive, I felt the time to add Robinson was then or maybe never. I can't stress enough how important FBG's late breaking inactives email is. A must read in the final hour before the 1:00 PM kickoffs.

42" vertical at 6'4" with longer than average arms, nice vision and route running, I'm in! Could be the best Penn State receiver since the formidable Joe Jurevicius. Bortles-Robinson show rest of the way!

He's actually only 6'2", but all the same he was my favorite of the Lee/Matthews/Richardson/Adams/Latimer/Landry cluster in this draft class. Just really liked what I saw every time I watched any of his game cut-ups from last season. Not super fast, but very quick and agile for a tall receiver. Dangerous after the catch and can also sky for the jump ball. Savvy route runner with an innate ability to misdirect DBs. I think Lee and Shorts are solid players, but Robinson has the highest ceiling of the bunch given his size advantage and well-rounded game. A few quotes about him that stood out to me recently:

From Cecil Shorts early in September:

http://www.jaguars.com/news/article-JaguarsNews/Open-Locker-Room-Allen-Robinson-ready-for-return/4600c8d6-98cb-454e-aaed-bb6b5ea5c371

“He missed a lot of time,” Shorts said, “but he has a good head on his shoulders. He has to understand it’s a process. Success is a process. There will be bumps in the road, but he’s a good player. We picked him at sixty-one for a reason.

“He was having a very good training camp before he went down. It’s going to come back to him. He’s just got to stay focused and continue to get better, continue to fight. It will be difficult. There might be some rhythm stuff off, but I think he’ll be good to go.”
From Gus Bradley a couple weeks ago:

http://jacksonville.com/sports/football/jaguars/2014-09-12/story/limited-practice-time-jaguars-wr-allen-robinson-not-yet

“Don’t think too much about the depth of the routes and how to run the routes, that you forget to do what you do great, which is to compete for the ball,’’ Bradley said. “I think he’s going through that right now. He is tremendously talented, so if we can just help him get through that, I think we’ll be in good shape.’’
I know coach speak is a common thing, but it's never a bad thing when your head coach describes you as tremendously talented.

Robinson had a ridiculous YAC average on screen passes at Penn State last year and already the Jags have tried to tap into that by throwing him lots of short passes. I also noticed yesterday watching the game on a choppy stream online that Bortles seemed willing to throw it up to him long even in coverage. I think he had on deep target in the end zone in double coverage.

I posted this elsewhere, but here's an interview after yesterday's game that includes some of his catches:

http://www.jaguars.com/media-gallery/videos/Robinson-We-have-something-to-build-on/ba57da6d-5df4-42c7-b6a2-e620ff06b3cd

Looks pretty good. That's him flashing by the screen around 0:46 before he makes the catch. Not too many 6'2" guys can sink their hips and explode like him.

Thank you to this thread, you guys helped me identify him early on. I think this guys going to be really good.

The question is will he be a redraft starter in 2 wides when everyone is healthy?
You're right we don't know if Shorts gets more back to his usual self, if he's pushed out. Will have to wait and see. He definitely has earned more time though I believe.

Trying to decide if this guy is worth a #1 waiver wire add. Henne is benched is great news. But still a very crowded WR corps. Not sure where the dust is going to settle with regards to pecking order. I think I may be better off passing on him and seeing what "good" guys are cut due to frustration, which usually happens leading into week 4 due to bye weeks and injuries causing havoc.

Anyone going all in on A-Rob? :)

I added him last week, and was very happy with the targets he got and what he did with them.

A bit concerned about the crowd there, but Hurns only got one target last week (although a long TD), and Shorts is who he is. A decent possession receiver, but not much upside and one who gets hurt a lot. Plus, Lee is hurt himself and may not be back for awhile.

It certainly remains to be seen who Bortles favors or whether he spreads the wealth, but Robinson seems to have some good tools and could very well emerge from the pack.

This!

I added JMatthews over him, feeling uneasy about it though I feel like Bortles will have a decent year (aside from INTs) and Allen is a good WR for a rookie, still holding onto Matthews in case Cooper falls to third WR or Maclin gets hurt again

OK so if you have a shot at Shorts, Robinson or Hurns, which guy to you pick up starting this week? In several leagues ALL these dudes are a available. Seems Shorts will still lead in targets.
