Almost Human - new TV show on FOX (1 Viewer)

I think the important thing is we all know who we are talking about with or without the "in" which I swear I never hear anyone on the show say.

Guys its INsyndicate
Right, them and Wall Street Boys.

I'm waiting for the episdoe where a bad guy figures out learning enhancement and can speed program people with just shy of 100 college diplomas. He could form a bad guy group called 98 Degrees.

I watch with subtitles on because I turn them on for True Detective and I'm too lazy to turn them off for other shows.

The subtitles always say Insyndicate.

This week's episode finally gave Minka Kelly a bit more screen time. If they don't do a lot more of that, this show is going to fail.

She has two expressions. I have seen trained dogs with more acting talent. Still she is pretty.

She has more range than Meryl Streep. It's just that the character she plays in this particular show is sternly poker-faced. Come to think of it, she's been typecast in similar roles her whole career. But that has nothing to do with her acting talent. A lot of people in Hollywood get typecast.

Fair enough.

Tonight's episode had some subtle undetones of the Zimmerman-Martin trial.
Yeah it was an interesting way to spin it for the show. I am really interested in the planted memory thing. I just feel like we are building to Dorian going over the wall to find the creator and Kennex in some kind of InSyndicate issue for the season ending cliffhanger,

Looks that way. Who would have easier ability and access to implant files into dorian than his creator? Question is why. What are they for?

Any word on how many episodes left in the season?

Not sure really

Just found out Fox did it again with this show (like with Firefly). They showed the episodes out of order they were designed for, likely contributing to the inconsistencies in the stories.

http://geektyrant.com/news/fox-is-airing-episodes-of-almost-human-out-of-order

  • 1 Pilot (1)
  • 2 Skin (5)
  • 3 Are you Receiving?(6)
  • 4 The Bends (7)
  • 5 Blood Brothers (8)
  • 6 Arrhythmia (3)
  • 7 Simon Says (10)
  • 8 You Are Here (2)
  • 9 Unbound (9)
  • 10 Perception (4)
  • 11 Disrupt (11)
  • 12 Beholder (12)
  • 13 Straw Man (13)
This explains why there are inconsistencies with John Kennex's urgency to discover the truth of what happened in the pilot and almost seeming nonchalant on the issue almost immediately after.

It was messing with me a couple of weeks ago because I was like this must be a repeat but they said it was new. It seems out of order to be new.

I was hoping it wasn't true but it felt like Firefly all over again. Wtf is wrong with the fox execs?

And (unfortunately?) they actually reshot a few scenes in the different episodes to "enhance" the continuity for the reordered version, so we won't be able to go back and watch it in the "proper" order because of the reshot scenes.

They do certainly vex me.

So last night we had some character development. Our detective is starting to feel lonely. I think I might have detected a third facial expression for our female lead but it was fleeting. I am assuming she is toying with us at this point given MT's defense. Not sure what we saw as scenes from next week strikes me as the place to stop.

And one criticism. These Chroms. Are supposed to be perfect, beautiful, geniuses, etc. But they aren't really showing that. For example vicitm last night was supposed to be a former Olympic swimmer. Really have they seen Olympic swimmers? And this one was supposed to be genetically engineered to excel as an athlete. Again really? The problem is they have too many. The guy from last night that was the club owner was short and wasn't really any better looking than Kennex. When you have one of these characters they should be noticeable for standing out amongst the crowd. These never really do for me.

I like the show. I set my DVR to record from the beginning but I think I missed the pilot somehow. I don't remember hearing about the Wall until a couple episodes ago, the one with Dorian's creator. What's the story with the Wall?

It didn't come up at all until that episode. Apparently Fox has pulled a Firefly here and showed several episodes out of order which led to some confusion. We haven't gotten much on the whys and wherefores of the wall yet.

Still have to watch Monday's. Was this the last of the season?
I think next Monday is the last one but I could be wrong.
It was the finale, no more. The ratings weren't very good either, so no idea if it is coming back. It actually got better near the end. I think the jumping around definitely got confusing. The whole "wall" thing seems a whole lot more important than what they gave us.

That was the finale? Felt like just another episode.

Yeah, that was the finale. It must have been one of the episodes shown out of order, because it didn't end like a season finale normally would. (I can't think of another episode that was a lot more finale-like, though, either.)

Yeah the doctor going over the wall felt the most like a break point. This blows. I really like this show and it really felt like it was finding it's legs a bit. I hope they do bring it back.

I hope so too but This has a Firefly feeling all over it. I'm worried for it's future.

Yep. But I will say I will now be more pre-disposed to watch stuff Karl Urban is in. Kind of like Nathan Fillion. I really got into his work and now I watch anything he is in. I would also be interested in seeing Michael Ealy more. And of course if Minka is going to get naked I'm in but her acting isn't getting me to watch.

Urban was the main reason I gave the show a chance. I like him in everything. Even when he was in Doom with the rock, I like his character. Solid guy movie actor.

I had forgotten he was in that. And of course he is in Star Trek but they don't give him a lot to do really.

The new Dredd was a good flick. He was also in the Bourne Supremacy, Lord of the Rings 2 & 3, the Riddick films. A lot of good guy flicks. I like his sarcastic wit.

Urban is awesome and is also the main reason I started watching this. I'll be disappointed if it doesn't at least get another partial season, but I'm not expecting it at this point.

It's interesting how this show crossed trajectories with Agents of Shield, at least for me. Early on I was frustrated that Agents of Shield wasn't more on par with Almost Human, but while AoS seems to be really finding itself Fox found a way to make AH flounder and regress.

Yeah I liked the new Dredd. Of course he actually kept the helmet on when he did it. I was just looking at IMDB. I had completely forgotten he played Caesar and Cupid on Xena and Hercules.

Yeah they seem to have turned a corner with Shield.
