Altering your team even if you are #1 or #2? (1 Viewer)

Just curious what people think about messing with rosters when you are in first place or have already pretty much qualified for the playoffs. Do you sacrifice depth for the championship run, or go with what "brought" you?

For instance the teams who drafted high (12 team leagues-less than 12 do not really count) got a RB stud (Shaun team may be hurting worse), and depending on how you went for 2nd & 3rd rounders your RB2 or WR2 may be a question mark. I went WR, WR and have been playing roulette for my RB2 (Addai, McCallister & Jamal). My depth is good, but I could possibly leverage depth for a solid RB2.

There are of course teams that are on the bubble that may bite, but do you screw up what has worked, or look at playoff matchups and take those into account?

Thoughts?

I am 8-1, and my 1 loss was by 2pts when LT was on bye week. We start 2RB 3 WR and 1 Flex. I have 5 WRs who can start for me at any time (TO, Boldin, Driver, Plax & Branch) and fringe guys in Chris Henry and Maroney.

I am trying to run with a RB at the Flex spot and Maroney isnt cutting it so I am trying to offer packages to the low ranked teams for a solid RB. Other than that I am just staying put because as you said "this is what brought me there"

If you are on the fense as to what you should do, I would say clean out your bench for stud players if you can, but I wouldnt trade anyone you considered a starter for anything short of a stud.

I am in second place in my 12 team redraft $$ league. I had a glaring glut of TEs (Colston, Hep and Winslow in a Yahoo run league). I play Colston at WR, but needed to move Heap or Winslow as one of the two was just wasting away one my bench.

I ended up trading Heap for Barber III because I wanted to secure a little more RB depth (at the time I had Barber, Droughns and Bush and can play all three with the flex). I targeted a guy who was not dead last (usually in a Shark league they are embarrased enough they are in dead last, they don't want to get fleeced on a trade too). I also am hesitant to trade with another team in the top 4, as I am weary of helping out an opponent that is so close in the standings. I traded with a guy that was like 2-4 or 2-5 at the time. He still was in it, but was definitely willing to deal. Unless he runs the table, I don't have to worry about him (already played and beat him prior to the trade), and maybe he can knock off a couple of my opponents for me along the way.

The toughest part was finding someone willing to deal for a TE in a start 1 league. My trade partners were severley limited.

I hear you Kidd, but it seems more often than not, in our leagues the #1 ranked team going in does not win the championship, maybe tweaking is what is needed to break the curse.

Then of course there is the pride factor to say, this is who I drafted and I won with my drafted team and savvy waiver wire pickups!!

My team in my work money league is 8-1 and i have been playing roulette all season at qb, so ive been trying to solidify that by looking at favorable playoff schedules. the rest of my line up is pretty solid. There is always that fear of players on good teams taking a game or 2 off near the end of the season, but you cant really control that, just gotta go with your gut.

I made a move 2 weeks ago and traded c taylor and glenn who i felt were outperforming for wayne and mcgahee who i felt were under, and you can see i reaped from wayne and just got stuck with mcgahee

grabbed a thomas by ditching a 2nd D and hoping it works out...

So yes, im looking to improve my 8-1 squad's QB

Yes we all try and improve. I am looking at trading Boldin or Colston and one of these RBs (Mccallister, Addai, Jamal) for a Portis/S. Jackson and some WR3 (Muhammed).

Here is crazy for you-----They guy who has Jackson also has Palmer, and he has just had bad luck. Given McNabb's playoff schedule I am considering throwing in McNabb for Palmer to sweeten the deal to get Jackson.

Crazy?
