Thank you SJax. Playing in 6 leagues this year. Bought him in an auction, drafted him at pick 4 in redraft and he fell to me at pick 7 twice and pick 9. He is the most talented RB in the league IMO. Hope he is not hurt. Will start him all the way to my championships!!

I'm not sure who my studs are anymore.

LT or Matt Forte?

TO or Brandon Marshall?

Randy Moss or DeSean Jackson?

Antonio Gates or Owen Daniels?

:wall:

Most of these "studs" are labeled as such based on past performance from prior years. I think you should re-balance bi-weekly your perception of "studs" based on their future outlook for the remainder of the season, what they've done so far this season, and then factor in their prior 'studly' years.

"I'm here to talk about the future" - M. McGwire

It all depends on how you define a stud. Braylon Edwards was a stud WR in the draft, but not on paper this season. Brandon Jacobs wasn't a stud in the draft, but has been one so far this season. If a stud is based on YTD performance, then yes start them. Past year performance doesnt always = current season aptitude.

This is the thing.......who you think your STUD is at draft time doesn't necessarily mean they're your STUD mid season and beyond.

One thing worked out this weekend. I was NOT going to fall for the "ADP against a tough run D" schtick again this year. Last year leading up to the San Diego game he had been struggling a couple games and was playing the #1 run defense in the league. I sat him on his record setting day. Every "expert" I looked at had Straton projected to score more than ADP...

"Always Start Your Studs"
A tired, tired cliche which seems more like a mantra used as an excuse for losing ("Yea I lost because LenDale went off on my bench while LT2 stunk it up again... BUT, you always start your studs! ) than a recipe/game plan for success.

Agreed.To/Wayne/Cotchery total 5 catches for 55 yds?... *sigh* :lmao:Anyhow, I usually stick to this theory, and am 4-3, 5-2, 6-1, 6-1

This has always been the crux of the question. Two levels of stud1) True stud- a guy who starts every week, every team, against every match-up. Only a handful at any position throughout the league.2) "your" studs- Guys who are clearly better than any other option on your team. Between injury and surprise performances (especially negative), an owner winds up with 3 WRs who start every week because even against good match-up the back-ups still not worth the risks. Happens to everyone sometimes, no matter how much you trade, work the waiver wire, etc. Overall, this year sems to be below average for the first type of player, so it makes those roster decisions much tougher.

Hopefully you have that figured out by week 7.Who would have won most weeks this season, the team with LT, TO, Moss, and Gates or the team with Forte, Marshall, Jackson, and Daniels? Answer that question, and you will be on your way to figuring out who your studs are. Never bench Owen Daniels, Brandon Marshall, or Matt Forte. DeSean Jackson is debatable.

How about another cliche - "always trust your gut"

I had doubts about Reggie Bush this week so I benched him. 0.5 ppr league. Could it have burned me? Sure. I liked Mewelde's chances this week against a crappy team so I rode him. Worked out pretty good! Once you study up on the teams involved, go with your instincts.

I drafted SJax and Portis in both leagues and I'm very happy.

Only disappointment is injury to Colston. I have him in both leagues as well and this week was highly anticpated he would do soome damage to is opponent, not my FF team!

I was almost tempted to start MMoore over SJax because of the Dallas matchup and didn't because of the stud theory.

Wow, MMoore went off but so did SJax.

I completely concur with this.I can't remember when exactly, it was last year or year before last... my gut told me to bench LT and start Kevin Jones. The matchups were in favour of this. I asked on another forum if anyone agreed and I was flamed to death. Of course, KJ had over 100 yds and TD while LT came up single digits on my sheet.I swore from that moment on I would always trust my gut after research.

My gut told me to bench P.Manning in favor of emerging stud Schaub this week & I went with the golden rule of always start your studs and was burned again. Schaub might just be started over Manning from this point forward. Sometimes it's time to declare a stud...unstudly.
