Always start your studs? (1 Viewer)

I am in jeopardy of dropping a few playoffs games this week by not starting guys like Snelling over established "studs" in the fantasy playoffs. I saw the warning signs and still stuck with Moss over Snelling which particularly bothers me. Had Moss gone nuts and Snelling gotten 20 yards would that have been worse? Assuming I survive this week it's going to be a tough call to decide which supposed "studs" are unbenchable next week with my remaining playoff leagues ... the first of which will be Bowe returning vs. Wayne now that they've clinched.

You don't understand what "always start your studs" means.

Through the course of a season, the "studs" are more likely to produce week in and week out cumulatively outscoring flashes in the pan by the end of the year. Starting these players gives you the best chance to win in any given week.

This doesn't mean that these studs can't be outscored in a given week costing you a game, possibly at a very inopportune week like the playoffs.

So, unless you're Kreskin and know when Louis Murphy is going to go off, the best bet is to start your studs.

Only problem is identifying who the studs are. :fishing:

been doing this for 20 years..dont know the exact ratio of starting studs vs. high risk players..id say its around 90-95% studs..but i do know every now and then (today) ill bench payers like benson, holmes and jennings for a running back whose name escapes me..plays for the redskins..sometimes it works, sometimes not..i also know i do it mostly late in the season and when i do its usually based on matchups as there are teams that have either quit or we have a good idea what kind of defensive team they have..the key thing here is defining STUDS..as of today, there arent very many

I don't know about you guys, but when I bench my studs I usually have a really good reason to do it and my predictions turn out correct very often. I had Wayne, Moss, Djax, and Holmes in a 2 WR/no flex league all year. You better believe I sat Moss and Wayne when I had guys who had favorable matchups and big play talent. And you know what, I wasn't being cute either since Djax and Holmes are startable players in their own right and could go off as well. Moss and Wayne have bigger range than most players but that doesn't mean they are immune to busting. You can drop them down a tier for a terrible matchup like the Broncos / Jets which neither did well against but that doesn't mean you start scrubs like Garcon or Meachem for. Have some guts and make the play. Like in poker, sometimes you got to fold your aces when the flop is dangerous even though you'll usually win with them.

I benched MSW, Benson, and LT for Fred Jackson, Forsett, and Meachem, non PPR. Was pretty close for me today. Up 20 v. Warner and Boldin to my Fitz. This week last until next week too. Came very close to benching Brady for Alex Smith though.

:lmao: Heading into the weekend Barber was RB 27 and Driver was WR 16. Come on man, those aren't studs!
:lmao: guy's done hardly anything for me this year. Now Miles Austin on the other hand...-QG
ugh at Cincy's performance today. with that said, I think they're beating SD next week :football:
