Amazing records that Manning is approaching (1 Viewer)

I knew Manning has done amazing over his career, but never really thought to compare his stats to the all-time records until now for some reason. Going by:

http://www.nfl.com/history/randf/records/indiv/passing

Most TD Passes - Career

Favre 442

Marino 420

Tarkenton 342

Manning 333

Most Yards Passing - Career

Favre 61,655

Marino 61,361

Elway 51,475

Manning 45,628

Already owns a few records, especially rookie ones... Think he might hit the Yards Passing before he retires? Hate to think of it, but I can see him hanging it up in the next 2-3 years... :blackdot:

Manning (Peyton) will own all the statistical records when he retires, if he wants them. With the possible exception of consecutive games played, but even that he has a good shot at.

Most passing yards, career:

Favre = 65127

Manning = 45628

Difference = 19,499

TDs:

Favre = 464

Manning = 333

Difference = 131

Wins:

Favre = 160

Manning = 105

Difference = 55

For yards, Manning has 4, most likely 5 years of Manning stats to pass Favre although if he plays 6 years more, he should have it.

For TDs, Manning has a full 4 to possibly get it but 5 years should have it.

For wins, Manning has 5, maybe 6 years before sniffing this one.

Manning will be 33 this coming year, 34 next year, 35 the following, and hitting 36 in the 4th projected year where he will inch close to one of these records. He will be 37 the year he really sniffs a couple of these and should pass them when he is 38... if he plays that long.

Favre has 169 wins, 464 TD and 65127 yards.

Favre through age 32, had 103 wins, 287 TD and 38627 yards.

Manning through age 32, has 105 wins, 333 TD and 45628 yards.

The wins record will be tough for Manning to get as Favre just kept winning after age 32. The TD record Manning will get in his sleep and he'll get the passing record a few games after that.

Favre was 66-46 after age 32 (60% win rate). That's not bad, but it's fewer than 10 wins per year; Manning hasn't had fewer than 10 wins since 2001. If Manning plays to age 39 as Favre has, I expect he'll beat it easily, especially considering that he has a 2-game head start.

As a Manning dynasty owner I hope he plays a LONG time and gets all the records. It'll be interesting to see what his passion for the game is like in another 3 years or so.

I think it's unlikely that Manning plays until age 39 and averages 10 wins a year.

He's averaged almost 13 wins over the past four years. He hasn't had fewer than 12 in the past six. If he puts up three more 12-win seasons, he'll average over 10 wins a year.

Maybe. It's really hard to get 12-win seasons, though, and it's hard to keep playing at an elite level in your mid and late 30s. If anyone can do it, though, Peyton would be the guy.
