A good deal just keeps getting better
Yeah, if you're planning on always being on Prime, that's a great addition, but what if Amazon raises their rates a bunch for Prime and you don't want it anymore? Now you're in a bind because all your photos are stuck.Quite likely a game changer for me, in the sense that it might lock me into Prime for a long time.
Looking forward to reading more about it tonight.
Can't you just download your files from Amazon to an external hard drive?GroveDiesel said:Yeah, if you're planning on always being on Prime, that's a great addition, but what if Amazon raises their rates a bunch for Prime and you don't want it anymore? Free unlimited photo storage and I'm not tied into anything else.Das Boot said:Quite likely a game changer for me, in the sense that it might lock me into Prime for a long time.

how much extra storage do you buy?Quez said:Currently using Google Photo with additional storage. It syncs so well with android that it is worth the cost.
However, I may be interested in this if there was an easy way to print photos, and get them in 2 days...
I am a Flickr fan and user as well but what if they start charging, wouldn't you be in a similar "bind"? Flickr absolutely is tied to something else; Yahoo. In cloud storage the prices are pretty minimal so the real value is having a trusted place to store your photos over time and in... ten years(?) I'm much more confident Amazon will still be in business with a similar business model for storing your photos than I am Flickr/Yahoo will look like they do today. I agree the Amazon service is hardly earth shattering, but it's a good option and probably a safer option long term for the average person. Even if you're not an average person, if the photos are valuable to you they should be in three locations anyway so you would never be in a bind no matter what single event happens to your photos/data.GroveDiesel said:Yeah, if you're planning on always being on Prime, that's a great addition, but what if Amazon raises their rates a bunch for Prime and you don't want it anymore? Mac client is coming but the iOS app seems to work well. Have to use browser on a mac right now.And isn't the Amazon cloud software still pretty iffy? I don't think they even have a Mac client.
That would be pretty sweet. I don't print photos, but when my wife does she uses Walgreen's.Quez said:How do you guys print photos? CVS, Walgreen's, order online?
I'd like a seamless option from Google Photo where I don't have to upload into another cloud. This would be an attractive option for me if I could just click photos already in the Amazon cloud to print and Prime ship.
I uploaded my entire music collection to them in 2010 or 2011 and it's what I use to play music 95% of the time now, no matter where I am. No issues at all.FreeBaGeL said:And isn't the Amazon cloud software still pretty iffy? I don't think they even have a Mac client.
Didn't you just post that you're using 1.5MB DSL? Yes, that will take a long time to upload a TB of data.Finished a couple GB out of half a terabyte last night. Looks like it would take weeks or even months to upload everything with no way to pause.
