It's not like he went there on vacation.Sucks for him. A good reason why Pakistan shouldn't be on Americans' travel plans.
I don't think the people looking for Americans to kidnap really care why they are there. It's not like he went there on vacation.Sucks for him. A good reason why Pakistan shouldn't be on Americans' travel plans.
Sorry if it seems callous but it's the truth. We can't negotiate with them at all or kidnappings will go off the charts. And we aren't going to stop bombing AQ with drones.Very callous attitude by some of you guys. You realize the kidnappers make them say these things

We'll see. I don't think they are even dumb enough to say anything here unless Obama and team were to negotiate. This seems like a non-issue. Yes, it's very sad and unfortunate. However, we cannot negotiate with terrorists and when he went to that part of the world he assumed the risk. Clearly this is an AQ ploy to get involved with the U.S. elections. I'm curious to see if and how the republicans make this an issue??

IIRC they said he managed to escape in Sept of last year but was recaptured in a couple of days. Still held as far as I know.Whatever happened to Pfc. Bowe Bergdahl? This soldier is still missing and the media stopped covering this story fast.

You really think Republicans will bring up this issue during an election year when Obama gave in to Israeli pressure? I thought the story was supposed to be that Obama was an enemy of Israel? Here's one.http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/middleeast/palestinianauthority/8280102/Middle-East-peace-talks-leaks-Obama-backed-out-of-land-promise-to-Palestinians.htmlWhich part is the 'lie'?The continued bombings of other sovereign nations appears to play a part in it."Obama lies" aren't the reason this guy got kidnapped.Really? Maybe - I haven't really followed the whole thing that closely. Bottom line is that if this guy got kidnapped on Bush's watch, everyone would go ballistic. Happens for Obama, who really hasn't been all too peaceful in the middle east and it's kind of "well, what can you do". If you're in favor of continuing to kick the crap out of sovereign nations, it's probably best to vote for Obama because he'll be able to continue doing this stuff without reproach, while liberals will get super in arms over anything Romney does there. You really think Republicans will bring up this issue during an election year when Obama gave in to Israeli pressure? Through this entire thread, you're the only partisan hack trying to make this a 'my party's good, your party's bad' issue.Maybe - I haven't really followed the whole thing that closely. I'd think they're discriminant. They probably prefer Muslim Socialists that don't bomb them.Of course it does, you know AQ hates Muslim Socialists.Obama lies, innocent civilians die. That is correct. He is likely being held in Pakistan right now. Bergdahl isn't a priority because he brought that kidnapping on himself. He made stupid choices and now has to live with them. Both the military and CIA have more important things on their plate right now. They are still looking for him, but he isn't a priority.IIRC they said he managed to escape in Sept of last year but was recaptured in a couple of days. I agree that, in general, most liberals have shown how hollow much of their opposition of Bush was. He left his post by his own free will and wandered into a nearby town. Most likely to join the taliban. And the way for an American to best serve the Taliban is by being a hostage.Wasn't he allegedly drunk and wandered into the capture? That is correct. He is likely being held in Pakistan right now. And he's 70. What the hell was he even working for? Should have retired years ago.If he was over there working, he knew the risks and was being paid handsomely for it.![]()
I promise you I won't become the Steelers.Whatever emotional strings are being pulled - we must remember not to become the thing we hate. That is all I got to say.

Not sure it applies though. This is US SOP and has been forever. We do not reward terrorists for taking hostages. No matter how old, cute, lovable they may be.Whatever emotional strings are being pulled - we must remember not to become the thing we hate. That is all I got to say.
5 for 1? Looks like some bad dudes were released. I'm happy for the American, but I don't feel too good about this.

The detainees are among the most senior Afghans still held at the prison. They are:
—Abdul Haq Wasiq, who served as the Taliban deputy minister of intelligence
—Mullah Norullah Nori, a senior Taliban commander in the northern city of Mazar-e-Sharif when the Taliban fought U.S. forces in late 2001
—Khairullah Khairkhwa, who served in various Taliban positions including interior minister and had direct ties to Mullah Omar and Osama bin Laden
—Mohammed Nabi, who served as chief of security for the Taliban in Qalat, Afghanistan, and later worked as a radio operator for the Taliban's communications office in Kabul
—Mohammad Fazl, whom Human Rights Watch says could be prosecuted for war crimes for presiding over the mass killing of Shiite Muslims in Afghanistan in 2000 and 2001 as the Taliban sought to consolidate their control over the country.
