American Horror Story: Hotel (Season 5) (1 Viewer)

Still having trouble figuring out Larry's story. Is he alive or a ghost? He was involved with Constance before he moved his family into the house?
He seems to be a somewhat gray area at this point...That said, I think Tate died in '94, so my guess is he lived in the house in between then and the gays, and killed/burned his family because of the house telling him to. He's the only character/ghost that we've seen outside of the house (except for Halloween), so that leads me to what I just said that he is alive as well. I figure they moved into the house in that time frame and he got bored with his wife and wanted Constance. This would also make sense because he killed Constance's "attic son" the other episode so their time in the house is both pretty recent.
no he didnt
This actually confused me a bit as well. When he told the story to Ben, he said that he lit the curtains and the house on fire. However, when they showed the flashback last episode, his wife is the one who lit her room (with her kids in it I think) on fire. So I can see why there would be confusion about that. I think the flashback is the real version. I think he is alive and not a ghost in any form. Just my take
he admitted to Ben he lied about killing them so not sure why there is any confusion
I think youre right. I need to quit watching this show half in the bag :banned:

This past episode was ok, not as good as the last few I dont think..it seems like they solved as many things as they muddied...

I guess it was still up in the air, but Tate being THE GIMP seemed pretty obvious to me at this point. Not surprised by Violet taking Tate's side over her mom's, but I dont see how Kate Mara and the O.W. (original wife) are getting those babies when she's not in the house and committed to a psych ward. Also, as hot as Kate Mara is, Id rather she stays underground til season 2. Her character is annoying and there is no suspense or things the viewer doesnt know with her storyline at this point.

Her in being in the :loco: bin makes it difficult for the babies to stay with her. So once thy are born they will be brought to the house where they can then take them under their wings.

I liked it

Nothing else even close to watch that night/time slot. Maybe you guys missed the young maid scenes? Maybe it tries too hard sometimes to scare you, but that's fine. Lots of back story going on.
The pilot introduced too many characters. They should have spread that out over the next few episodes. I thought it was OK but I don't know how long a haunted house series can last. The "WHY DON'T YOU JUST MOVE OUT?" question is going to weigh heavily soon.
Yep. Too much, too soon.
Exactly. I really wanted to like it. But in any successful haunted house story, you've got to build the suspense a bit. Going full-on Twin Peaks finale in the pilot episode was a horrible move. Still, Connie Britton getting impregnated by the gimp will be enough to get me to tune in to episode 2.
Is this part of the story line?

 if that was :sarcasm: or if you are just not watching the show

I still can't decide if I really like this show or now. I thought the last episode was awful and almost felt like a totally different show.

i agree with the above poster. i loved this show but that last episode was pretty awful.
Wow. I thought the last episode had some of the best acting/dialogue so far. Viv and Violet were brilliant, IMHO, and even the spark of anger between Ben and Luke felt real. I thought Haden was a little overplayed and there was no Jessica Lange, but all-in-all I really liked this ep.eta: just goes to show how much tastes/expectations can differ.

Very entertaining episode after last weeks failure.

This episode would make me think it stays in the house next year, but who knows.

I love the Black Dahlia murder tie in, keep it big time. Each living house character's stories seem to be digressing/dispersing which is interesting but I dont know. Now its starting to look like who gets caught first to a degree. Last episode had no Constance, tonights had no Violet (and barely Tate), its continuing to be a mind#### even more because Kate Mara is still apparently on Ben's side.

The end that lets the maid show her oldself to Ben makes it very very interesting on whats next. If she shows that, what wont she tell him?!

Like I figured after the 2nd or 3rd episode, this show is a completely awesome MiNd ####!!! I cant even say what the next episode brings let alone the next season

I still dont understand how the maid's true appearance is that of an old lady when in real life she was murdered as the young woman.

It is how women view her...they made a comment I think in the 2nd episode, that women view the person based on how they are as a person, some bull...and men, it is the opposite. So basically, she is a skank, and thus the wife sees her as an old, disgusting women...young maid needs to be the main character for at least one episode please...

I thought it was a good episode too. I'm not sure Kate Mara's really on Ben's side, though. She just wants him and is willing to do whatever she can to get him. She clearly lied about Ricky Baker in order to try and push Ben further away from Viv. It'll be interesting to see if she goes back to being a full-blown undead psycho now that Ben's rejected her. Oh and Kate Mara ... I've also long been a fan of Mena Suvari. I especially like how she gravitates toward girl-girl scenes. I respect that in an actress.

When she showed her "old" self to Ben at the end, she says something like "you're starting to see things clearly" - which would lead me to believe that the old face is the real one. If that's the case, then I echo shady's comment. Otherwise, her comment to Ben is a lie.

Yea, I can't quite remember what was said...I would have to go back and watch that episode again...but typically men (in the show's theme) see things the way they would like to see them...and women see things clearly...when Ben made the comment about making a mistake with his wife, he now was seeing things clearly, and therefore saw the maid in her old form...It's confusing, but that is what I am going with for now lol.

That all makes sense, except for why she doesn't look hot as her real self since all of the other ghosts look the way they did when they died. Why does she age & not the others?

I just know I'll be upset if the young maid is gone forever (considering it was really only Ben who saw her like that, and now even he doesn't)...show ruined IMO lol.

So far all of the men have seen her as a hot maid, not just Ben. I don't remember there being a scene involving Ricky and the hot maid but my guess is he'd see her as a hot maid too.

IMDB say the young maid (Alexandra Breckenridge) is only in 7 episodes...Next week is episode 10, sooo. Also says Ben is in only 11 but the season is 12

I'm not sure you can expect much more from her than what we got in that episode. My lady friend wasn't exactly thrilled with the extra attention I paid to the tv during the opening scene and her scene with Mena Suvari. GF: Is that what you want me to do for you?!

Me: Yes please?

According to Moria from "Murder House", Ben sees Moria differently "Because he's a man, and men see what they want to see, while women see the true soul of a person."

It still doesn't make sense. The daughter sees Tate as a teenager. Wouldn't his true soul be a bit more deranged? Also, the college nurses that were butchered seemed to appear to both genders in the same form.

This show is great.

My wife and I look forward to it each and every week.

The acting is outstanding. The atmosphere is fantastic.

I hope they can squeeze 3 or 4 seasons out of this show.

Which twist?Im guessing its Violet being dead, but based on the last couple shows, and then a truant officer shows up, I figured the writing was on the wall with her. It definitely will be intersting to see how she treats her parents now that she knows she's dead though - will she protect them? just protect 1 of them? what about the babies?Definitely setting up for a great season finale, glad its 90 minutes.

Didnt the daughter appear in the neighbor's house (when she talked to that medium?) That doesnt make sense if she cant leave the house. Im gonna have to check wikipedia to see when that happened but couldve sworn she took the pills earlier.

EDIT: Nope she talks to the medium in her neighbors house in the beginning of the episode she died in "Piggy Piggy Man"

I'm a little confused.

So I understand that Violet is now dead, but was there a past scene hint with the drug OD I forgot about? ...& what was the deal with Tate encouraging suicide?

Not sure what you're asking about the past scene hint. There was a past scene where she takes pills and ODs. Tate grabs her and drags her into the bathtub if memory serves.
