American Horror Story: Hotel (Season 5) (1 Viewer)

I was curious how the writers would keep this show fresh for a full season. Kudos to them. They've introduced enough characters to keep us interested without really overdoing any of them.

I really enjoy the different independent storylines each week, but everything still seems to flow as a cohesive show. I'm not really sure where the plot is going, but I don't care. It's entertaining. Great stuff.

I love this show but wasn't thrilled with the episode. Some strong acting by Violette though IMO.
I was gonna post last night 2 points.1. That little girl is a heck of an actress

2. I guess a completely new storyline next year?
I'm thinking the same. Since they've let most of the cats out of the bag, I'm afraid this will be one of those great for one season type of shows. Hope I'm wrong.

Finally was able to finish watching this. Pretty damn good episode. I like how they're not afraid to scramble everything up just when you think you see where it is going.

the finale should be interesting. I think Tate is gonna go ballistic without Violet.

the little baby monster clown thing...didn't it look like it had an adult face? WTF is that thing?

That's the original couple's baby. In an earlier episode, the nutty doctor was shown using body parts from different beings (was one donor a pig?) to bring it back to life.

Any idea when/how Thaddeus died(assuming he is a ghost)? Obviously he outlived his folks. Has there been any backstory between the Montgomerys in the 20's and the Dahlia in '47?

I wouldn't think he outlived them. I am not sure how a reanimated Frankenstein monster baby would live on his own.I assume that the baby died with the parents.

I don't think we'll ever know the answer to that one. Remember that the wife tried to kill the baby & told her husband that it wouldn't die right before the murder/suicide.

Except he does not appear as a baby(at least his face is adult) and ghosts look like they did at the time of death which would imply that he did live on for some time after his parents died before eventually dying inside murder house.

They don't always appear as they did when they died (the maid for example). This site seems to think it may some sort of a demon.

yeah perhaps thats the personification of the evil in the house. its not the actual baby cuz the baby was found dead outside the home

The "go away" thing implies strongly that he is a ghost but we have no "rules" for demons on the show. I said in my first post in the thread assuming he is a ghost which is not certain.

The maid is an annoying and so far unexplained anomaly from the ghost"rules".

I don't recall this. Do you mean before reanimation?
yeah the baby was kidnapped and later found murdered and brought home in pieces in a box by the police
:goodposting: So the "thing" wandering in the basement is whatever he tried to re-animate with left over parts. It is possible he brought it back to life for a short time, and then once the doctor died it died.

I forgot to look back and deleted the episode but did Violet and the medium briefly read each others thoughts?

That's what I thought. So many great twists in that episode, loved it.

I liked when Spock was making it seem like the word Croatoan was working. And when Nora takes the dead baby. Creepy. Real Rosemary's Baby feel to it.

Can't wait for the finale.

The wife tried to kill it but was unsuccessful. She came up to the Doc with scratches on her neck before she blew his brains out. Then her own.

yep and constance doesnt realize shes dead
Wait, what? She goes back and forth between the houses and has been outside the house in other scenes. How can she be dead?I'd been at the bar watching Calvin dominate, but I didn't think I was drunk enough to miss this.

Constance doesn't realize that Violet is dead.

I've always thought that they could just kill everyone off, and start with a new family next year.

Mmmmm you may be on to something.

Ben will survive and become next season's Larry. He won't have enough money to keep the house and will try to find a way to get back into the house.

So, that ending makes it seem like they didn't know if the show would be picked up for season 2 or not when they wrote it. Kind of wrapped everything up inside the house. Will S2 be the story of the kid now, not much else for the family to do but keep scaring people who try to buy the house.

I hope Winona Ryder moves in next season and has to say 'Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice' every time she needs to talk to the family.

no clue. Both would be dumb

So the season finale was supposed to be two hours long and they cut it to 90 minutes because of production costs. You could really tell by how muddled and fast moving the episode felt. I didnt like it. Also it wasnt even 90 minutes. What was up with that?

Is it possible they changed directions when the show got picked up for season 2.

that was probably my least favorite episode of the whole season. way to end on a high note. :X

seems like nothing was really resolved. so the entire family is trapped in the house forever and will try to keep everyone from buying the house? that's a weak storyline. if that's the angle they're going to run with next season, might as well turn it into a sitcom. if it's going to be about Tate's demon kid, not sure how that will play either. if they decide to go with a brand new story next season, that would make sense, but then we end up with no payoff for this season's family.

either way, it kinda sucked.

Why were they so scared of dying? It seems like they have a pretty good existence right now?

Its almost like they had no inkling that this would get picked up for another season. Seems like they could be painted into a corner next year and I agree a story revolved around the Harmon family scaring people out of the house or a story revolved around "Damien" would be stupid.

Is it just me or is Demonspawn aging at an incredible rate of speed? Not only was he born fully healthy in like 5 months, now he's 3 years old when he kills Lupita?
