Anarchy League 3 Draft Order & Smack Talk Thread (1 Viewer)

Here is the LINK to the Anrachy League 3 Draft Web Site.

The default password for all teams is: anarchy.

The draft has been turned on.

The clock is currently off.

People can make picks at any time.

Please predraft whenever possible.

Once everyone is informed the draft has started and makes a pick, I will turn the timer on.

If someone misses a pick, they will get a placeholder pick (BPA) selected by the MFL system. AN OWNER CAN PM ME A REPLACEMENT PICK FOR THAT PLAYER and if that player is still available at the time I get the PM, I will swap that pick. I am generally around and on-line, so usually I can get to swap picks within 2-3 hours worst case.

For the most part, I combined players from Leagues 3 & 4 from last year into one league.

Draft Order

1 Brewzers

2 NorrisB

3 Dreamers

4 Reaper

5 Chris Black

6 Norseman

7 CommuterMan

8 HellFire

9 Browncos

10 EBF

11 Diesel Posse

12 Bucketheads

13 renesauz

14 ffgiant

15 Torn Tendons

16 Eggy's Booze Hounds

HellFire here - my stupid work computer has MFL blocked, so I'll be pre-drafting whenever possible. Sorry in advance for any delays. If anyone knows a work around to internet site blockers, please let me know.

Was hoping Moss might slide to me. Here's hoping for another year of health from Manning, a couple more regular season losses so he plays all 16 games, and a deep playoff run once again.

I know that TEs play a big role in this league but I am still a little surprised to see Witten get drafted in the first round... :rolleyes:

He ranked 6th overall in this format last year, and if people think the Cowboys will advance farther this year he could rank even higher.

David,

I am late to the draft and the timer has expired and the website will not let me draft. Please draft Anquan Boldin (Arz) or Steve Smith (Car) for me.

Thanks!!

Just noticed that according to the draft e-mails I'm receiving, both CommuterMan and EBF just selected Reggie Bush.ETA: Nevermind---I see there is a change on the league web site.

Giving new meaning to the term "double coverage."

Things are moving along pretty well, lets keep it up guys!

Wanted Welker with my pick (3.5), but I'm pretty pleased with getting Grant. To me, barring an injury he was the last RB that I thought could make it into the top 10 (for RB's) using this scoring format.

Darn ISP was down all afternoon...and I was out all evening, with no access.

The ADp pick for my 3rd was Steve Smith...wouldn't have been my first choice there, but would have been high on a short list, so no complaints.

Another ten minutes...I would have had a second ADP pick...that would have sucked.

Sorry guys...wasn't much I could do!

Cincy TM QB

SD TM QB

RB - Ladaian, SD

RB - Edge, Ari

WR - Bowe, KC

WR - Gonzo, Indy

TE - Dallas Clark, Indy

I'm feeling really good about this core team, so far. I especially like my picks at the 6/7 turn. I needed a QB on a playoff team and chose San Diego, alot of people predict them SB bound. Gonzo should be PPR gold, I love having him on my team

I know that TEs play a big role in this league but I am still a little surprised to see Witten get drafted in the first round... :shrug:
I was pretty sure Witten would go round 1, just didn't think it would be me taking him. I like him to have similar opportunities as last season, and I like Dallas to go deep in the playoffs. Gates has ????, Winslow is always dinged, and there are no playoffs for Gonzo in KC, so I like Witten to be a good bit ahead of the field in a 21 week long season. :goodposting: Witten was taken 4th, 11th, and 12th in the other Anarchy leagues this year. :goodposting:

Lions, Detroit DET TMQB

Johnson, Rudi CIN RB

Jones, Julius SEA RB

Fitzgerald, Larry ARI WR

Johnson, Calvin DET WR

Shockey, Jeremy NOS TE

Witten, Jason DAL TE

Everybody always loves their teams before the season starts, so I'll go against the grain and say I only "like" my team.

A healthy Shockey should put up top 5 or so #s in New Orleans, imo. If the Saints get 2 playoff games, I like Shockey to get another 8 catches and 100+ yards.... 26+ bonus points without counting TDs.

I see 160+ total catches from my two TEs.

I like Fitz for 90+ catches, and I'm looking for Calvin to make a big jump this year in terms of # of catches. With my drafting of the Detroit QB, I have a lot riding on that connection.

I don't like either of my RBs, but dem's da breaks when you wait for RBs. Both should be middle of the pack, which shouldn't hurt me. We'll see.

League 3 remaining roster spots (you HAVE to pick players that fit these spots):

Eggy 2 RB, 1 TE, 1 FLEX (RB, WR or TE)

Commuter 2 PK, 2 DEF

Rene 1 TE, 1 PK, 1 DEF, 1 FLEX

Norse 1 TMQB, 1 RB, 2 PK

Norris 2 PK, 1 DEF

Reaper 1 RB, 1 PK, 1 FLEX

FFGiant 2 TMQB, 1 WR, 1 FLEX

Diesel 1 DEF, 2 PK, 1 FLEX

Bucket 1 WR, 1 PK, 1 DE, 1 FLEX

EBF 1 DE, 2 PK, 1 FLEX

Torn 2 WR, 1 PK, 1 FLEX

Bus 1 DEF, 2 PK, 1 FLEX

Brew 1 WR, 1 DEF, 1 FLEX

Hellfire 1 RB, 2 WR, 1 PK

CBlack 1 RB, 1 DEF, 2 PK

Dream 2 DEF, 1 FLEX

I had to swap a WR for a PK for Reaper, as all his predraft picks didn't fill the right roster slots.
Thanks Dave... Still not sure what happened - I knew your "need" list above was off cuz I still need a QB... thought I predrafted the right amounts but, thanks!!!!!

So I log on at 10 PM last night, and I'm 12 picks away.

I sleep in a little, log on at 11:20 AM, and I've timed out??!!

I shouldn't be forced to pre-draft from 12 out.

We should probably turn the clock off for these last couple of rounds, or at least lengthen it significantly.

Not a huge deal here, but a four hour clock has severe (and somewhat unfair) limitations at this late stage.

OH...would like Nedney in that 17th round pick, or Coutu (Sea PK)

Fixed.

Last year was my first Anarchy draft. I don't know if I did any better this year, but I definitely had a better idea of what to expect. This is a pretty brutal format that requires you to build a deep roster with minimal margin for error. I think I did a decent job of finding value.

QB

Houston Texans - 6.07

New York Jets - 7.10

I was a little surprised to see so many QBs go so high considering the availability of decent sleepers and the fact that every team is guaranteed two starters no matter how long they wait to address the position. I think I got a decent pair considering my bargain bin approach. The Texans should produce top 20 numbers with the potential for top 10 if Schaub breaks out. The Jets were an early Christmas gift as the 21st TMQB off the board. If Favre stays healthy, I can't imagine them not crushing that draft slot. Neither the Jets nor the Texans look like Super Bowl contenders, but both teams have wild card potential. I could get an extra game or two here.

RB

Reggie Bush - 3.10

Felix Jones - 5.10

Chris Johnson - 8.07

Dominic Rhodes - 13.10

Not a great group, but all four of these guys will get touches for their team. Bush should finish inside the top 15. Jones wasn't a great value in the 5th round, but he'll get some touches and make some big plays. In a 32 team league, he's capable of putting up RB2 numbers. Bush and Jones both have strong playoff potential. Chris Johnson should get some yards and some big plays. I felt like I got a minor steal with Dominic Rhodes at RB57. He finished as RB25 in his last season with the Colts. His workload won't be quite as high this year, but when you factor in playoff potential I think he has a realistic shot to finish inside the top 30-40 RBs.

WR

Reggie Wayne - 1.10

Jerricho Cotchery - 4.07

Ted Ginn - 9.10

James Jones - 10.07

DeSean Jackson - 12.07

Antonio Bryant - 17.10

I like this group. Wayne is money in the bank. Cotchery could be this year's Welker. Even if he doesn't improve at all, he'll still be an adequate WR2. Both of those guys have playoff potential. Ted Ginn should see a bump up from his 2007 numbers. Jones will be an adequate WR4 in this format. I expect DeSean Jackson to be one of the top 2-3 rookie WRs this season. 700+ yards is not out of the question. Antonio Bryant rounds out the group. Assuming that he stays out of trouble, he'll provide me with solid flex scoring and a potential breakout candidate.

TE

Kellen Winslow - 2.07

Desmond Clark - 11.10

Winslow should be huge in this format and he has minor playoff potential. I probably waited too long to address my TE2 spot. I'm not wild about Desmond Clark, but he can finish as a top 20-30 TE this year.

PK

Mike Nugent - 15.10

Rian Lindell - 16.07

You have to be careful about the PK position in this league. If you wait too long, you'll get stuck with a rookie kicker or someone who might not last the entire season as his team's starter. I wanted to get two proven veterans with solid job security. I think I accomplished that goal. There's a decent chance one of these two guys will play in a wild card game.

DEF

Saints - 14.07

Chiefs - 18.07

Two defenses with strong potential to exceed expectations. I expect the Saints to be a playoff team, so I should get a little bump there.

Overall - It's tough to handicap your odds in a league like this. So much of it depends on catching that one huge sleeper and staying healthy. If there's one thing I don't like about these leagues, it's that the utter lack of depth provides no buffer against injury and adds an element of luck. My group should hang around the middle of the pack and if I catch a few breaks then I might contend.

Nice write up EBF. Also my 2nd year with this. Last year I thought it was very difficult - I picked 16th out of 16 and I think I finished around 12th or 13th. This year was difficult too - like you said, no room for error, and with 16 teams, a long time between picks. I felt like I had to reach and take guys earlier than I wanted - I"m used to 12 team drafts and I wanted to make sure I got certain players/positions filled while there were still decent players left. I don't expect to win this thing, but I hope to improve upon last year's results.

QB - NY Giants, Redskins

I wanted at least one team that I thought would get a playoff game or two, and I'm a Skin's homer and Campbell looked really good in the first 2 preseason games. It looks like Zorn likes to throw the ball, even to the backs. And I'm hoping we saw the real Eli last postseason.

RB - Ladell Betts, Deuce McAllister, Ray Rice, Adrian Peterson (Chi), B. Westbrook.

Even without ppr for RB, Westbrook should be a top 5 RB in this format. Rice looked real good the other night and I think he'll see a lot of playing time this year. If Deuce is healthy, he'll see 10+ carries a game, and Betts should be good for 10 carries and 2 catches a game. If McGahee doesn't recover at full strenght, I really like Rice.

WR - Braylon Edwards, Devery Henderson, Chad Jackson, Roddy White, Jacoby Jones.

Not sure what I was thinking with the Jacoby Jones pick. With Henderson and Chad Jackson, I was looking for guys that have a chance for multiple post-season games. Jackson could easily be the #3 for the Pats, he just has to beat out Jabar Gaffney. Reports say he is looking good thus far. Henderson has to beat out old man David Patten for the #3. Both Jackson and Henderson play on high power offenses that will likely have 1-3 post season games. Roddy White is the #1 for Atlanta, and Edwards may get a playoff game also. Again, I like this bunch.

TE - Chris Cooley, Vernon Davis

With 2ppr, I wanted to get 2 TE that could catch 60+ balls. I think both of these guys could catch 70+. I'm pretty happy with my TE line up.

K - Bironas, Kasay

Steady guys that will likely keep their jobs all season. Small chance of playoffs, but I should get 16 solid weeks from both.

D - Cowboys, Eagles

Both aggressive, blitzing defenses, that should force turn overs, and hold opponents scoring down. Also, Dallas should have a couple of playoff games, and Philly at least one.

Overall, I am more pleased with this team that my team from last year. One nice thing is that byes don't really matter since all scores count, all weeks.

Now that the draft is done, a couple of the teams didn't meet the roster requirements correctly (due to auto picks). I think that it is NorrisB and Torn Tendons.

I swapped the last defense for Norris. Tendons needs to pick from the remaining PKs for another kicker. If he doesn't check back in I'll have to take one for him.

Last year was my rookie season as well. I started out quite well when Ronnie Brown was tearing it up, but his and a couple of other injuries sent me to the middle of the pack.

Lions, Detroit DET TMQB - 7.11

Vikings, Minnesota MIN TMQB - 8.06

I like the Detroit QB to put up good points. Many will point to Martz's departure and the typical preseason statements that they want to run the ball more, but I don't think Detroit will be able to run it effectively. They will have to play to their strength, which is a potentially very good receiver corps and a solid vet QB.

I had Minnesota in the next tier of QBs, along with Tampa, Buffalo, and the Martz-led Niners. I just can't put my faith in the Niners, and felt that Buffalo would not make the playoffs. I like Minnesota to make the playoffs over Tampa, so that was the major deciding factor. I like Minnesota to be improved as well, with Jackson having more experience and a better receiving corps. Still middle of the road, but with an extra game or two in the playoffs.

Jones, Julius SEA RB - 5.11

Johnson, Rudi CIN RB - 6.06

Norwood, Jerious ATL RB - 9.11

Perry, Chris CIN RB - 12.06

My draft plan was to skimp on RBs, and I succeeded. ;) I am not high on him, but I think Julius Jones is better than M.Morris and will see enough touches to put him in the top 20 or so. I considered kevin Smith, but I went with Jones and his likely 1-2 playoff games. Rudi was the last "starting" RB, but I'm pretty unhappy with the pick now. If I had it to do over, I would take the San Diego QB at that spot. I took Perry to cover for the Rudi pick. It still may work out if they stay healthy, but that may be a big if. I like Norwood to match last year's numbers, 900 yards from scrimmage, with some receiving upside.

Fitzgerald, Larry ARI WR - 2.06

Johnson, Calvin DET WR - 4.06

Jackson, Darrell DEN WR - 10.06

Gage, Justin TEN WR - 11.11

Toomer, Amani NYG WR - 13.11

Northcutt, Dennis JAC WR - 17.11

I was either going to go with a TE or WR as my flex; I like Northcutt as my WR6. I see him as a solid, dependable vet that will match or exceed last year's numbers. He had over 140 points last year, and I think he'll do about the same out of the slot. Fitz is good for 90-100+ catches, though there is some "Leinart sucks" risk. I like Calvin to break out this year, a la Brandon Marshall last year. Calvin might be a difference maker. I am higher on D.Jackson than most; I think he nails the #2 spot in Denver and puts up solid numbers. I think last year in San Fran isn't even worth considering. Gage had over 140 points in Tennessee last year, and I don't see much reason for that to decline. Toomer had 150 points last year... I think he'll be around there again. I was torn between Toomer's steady production and Steve Smith's possible upside in NY.... I just don't think Smith did enough last year to anoint him as the #2 WR in NY. Either way, Toomer should get plenty of targets, especially with the departure of Shockey.

Witten, Jason DAL TE - 1.11

Shockey, Jeremy NOS TE - 3.11

If Witten repeats last year and Shockey is top 5, my TEs may wel cover for any other deficiencies. Obviously I was lokoing for a distinct advantage at TE, and I should have two of the best who should both be in the playoffs.

Brown, Kris HOU PK - 15.11

Hanson, Jason DET PK - 16.06

Like EBF, I wanted two kickers that I don't have to worry about, so I didn't wait until round 17 to take them. I like both Houston's and Detroit's offenses to score well, and I especially like that they won't have bad weather home games.

Titans, Tennessee TEN Def - 14.06

Rams, St. Louis STL Def - 18.06

Tennessee is a very solid defense, and I wanted at least one solid D. I wanted Oakland as my Def2, but they were taken 2 spots ahead of my pick. I then wanted the Houston D, but they were taken 8 spots before my 17th round pick. I don't mind the Rams D, I think they'll surprise and finish middle of the pack. If Little stays healthy and Long produces, they could be better than advertised.

~~~~~~~
Some of the guys that I was targetting that I did not get: Ginn, Chris Johnson, James Jones, DeSean Jackson. ALL of them went to EBF. :P
Overall, I like my team. Rudi needs to be at least pretty good, but I like the rest of my team to be very solid. I think I'll be in the running all year, but I'll fall off the pace when the playoffs come around. I just don't have enough good playoff players.
It'll be interesting, though. I think I improved over last year, strategically at least.
Good luck.
>>editted to fix Toomer's stats.
I drafted Toomer on the strength of the stats that MFL showed on his player page; that included his playoff stats.
Hmm.... maybe the Giants will make the super bowl again. Yeppers...
I had to swap a WR for a PK for Reaper, as all his predraft picks didn't fill the right roster slots.
OUCH.. Tynes.. Again, not sure how it happened but, Definitely wasn't on my list - Once you gave him to me, I figured he'd at least play but, in this league a ZERO stinks....Could I at least take whoever the new Giants kicker is?
On 2nd thought I understand how that could be unfair - I should have changed it right away....Whatever.
We can compromise . . . let me know which non-Giants kicker you want and you can have that one. IMO, taking the replacement kicker for the Giants seems more unfair than letting you swap for him.
BusMan's Draft
I was kind of caught totally off guard by the start of this draft. I celebrated the birth of my first child near the beginning, and spent so much time away from the computer that I timed out quite a bit early on and ended up stocking up on RBs early. I'm strong at RB but weak almost everywhere else now. We'll see how that affects my chances.
Anarchy leagues are a real treat---its fun to be forced to think outside of the regular draft box, if you will. My hardest decisions in this draft were always when I tried to find a target that I thought would be playing in the postseason. As the draft went on, I realized these types of players were going way too early, especially considering that teams that look good before a season don't always make it deep into January. This realization had me taking whatever value I could find, regardless of whether I thought the team was a playoff-qualifier. I'll likely have to outscore folks by quite a bit in the regular season to have a chance of winning this thing.
The Picks
I was drafting here in Anarchy 3 and for MBSL 1 at the same time, and in both leagues I pulled a pick at the 8/9 middle of the 16-team league. I really enjoyed these spots as I never had to wait too long to draft and I could at least attempt to scoop any value that fell off the turns.
1.09 - Dallas Cowboys Team QB, QB - DAL/10: QBs were just flying off the board early. I'm glad I got the Cowboys as the third group off the board, as I had them rated slightly higher than the Colts. Plus, Romo doesn't have the injury concerns heading into the season that Brady and Manning do. I'm very pleased with this pick.
2.08 - Larry Johnson, RB - KC/6: This was my first of a series of auto picks thanks to me being away from a computer for too long. Obviously I don't expect LJ to score for me in the playoff weeks, but I'm ok with him as my RB1. Had I actually made the pick I would've considered Braylon Edwards, Antonio Gates, Dallas Clark, and Wes Welker here.
3.09 - Brandon Jacobs, RB - NYG/4: Another auto draft pick. I would have gone with a receiver here had I actually been drafting. That said, LJ and BJ as my top two RBs in a 16 team league ain't too shabby. Brandon has a decentish chance to score for me in the playoffs, to boot.
4.08 - Kevin Curtis, WR - PHI/7: OOF. First I reach for the guy, and then he needs hernia surgery. What a suck.
5.09 - Jonathan Stewart, RB - CAR/9: Another missed pick means another RB on the squad. I'm not really that high on Stewart, as I don't trust him not trusting his toe, and I've seen enough of John Fox's RB plan to know that the incumbent usually gets the bulk of the touches despite any real or perceived talent discrepancy. My draft is really starting to go downhill.
6.08 - Rashard Mendenhall, RB - PIT/6: Now this is just getting ridiculous. Silver lining: I won't need to consider the RB position for the remaining 12 picks of the draft.
7.09 - Tennessee Titans Team QB, QB - TEN/6: At this point I think I've just resigned myself to having crappy WRs. But I also believe this is the point of the draft at which I wake up and actually starting pre-drafting and doing those little things that alert, conscientious, and considerate drafters should do: pay attention. Oddly enough I'm pretty bearish on VY. I guess I'm just counting on his legs to get me some points. I like that this gives me an above average QB squad to complement my good RBs and non-existant WR/TE/DEF/PK.
8.08 - Sidney Rice, WR - MIN/8: I like Rice a lot, but as a WR3 or 4, NOT my de facto WR1 for the first month or so of the season. :puke:
9.09 - Ben Utecht, TE - CIN/8: Ladies and gentleman may I present to you BusMan's first tight end pick in this tight end heavy format, Mr. Benjamin Utecht of the Cincinnati Bengals.
10.08 - D.J. Hackett, WR - CAR/9: Hopefully D.J. will win the #2 job in Carolina and fill in more than admirably during Steve Smith's suspension.
11.09 - Alex Smith, TE - TB/10: BOW BEFORE MY UTECHT/ALEX SMITH TE COMBO, ANARCHY 3!
12.08 - Derek Hagan, WR - MIA/4: Hagan as a WR4. That's insane, but not so terrible considering my receivers. Maybe Pennington to Hagan will be the next Montana to Lake Dawson.
13.09 - Washington Redskins DEF, DEF - WAS/10: I figure I can't really afford to slough off Ds and Ks with my crap pile at TE and WR.
14.08 - Eddie Royal, WR - DEN/8: Royal just might be the only team BusMan player to outperform his draft position. My Broncos homerism has me hoping for at least a game or two in January.
15.09 - Oakland Raiders DEF, DEF - OAK/5: That makes three above average units on my team, to hopefully cover for the two dreadful ones.
16.08 - Robbie Gould, PK - CHI/8: I've always thought the Bears unis were black, not blackish blue. Just shows how often a 28 year old Broncos fan living in Virginia gets to see the Bears play on television.
17.09 - Michael Jenkins, WR PK - ATL/7: Jenkins had been screaming value to me for several rounds now, so I gladly grab him as my darkhorse WR savior.
18.08 - Brandon Coutu, PK - SEA/4: Thank God this travesty is finally over. :homer:
The way I see this league going:
Reaper wins it.
I'm lucky to finish in the top half, but am more than likely headed for a subpar season like I did last year in Anarchy 4. I do think I have a better than decent shot at finishing last, actually.
It was fun guys good luck to all!
Is there a host site for the league? Last year, someone hosted the league, not MFL. If I missed a link, please point me in the right direction. TIA.
I have quite a team in here. Got some of the biggest steals in the draft with Bryant, CJ3, Rhodes, and DeSean. It's just too bad that I have so many guys getting injured (Winslow, Bush, Nugent, Felix). The one thing I don't like about this league is that you can't give yourself any insurance for injuries, so you're totally screwed if a couple of your guys get hurt. Getting a 0 from Nugent every week is the difference between me being in first and third place.
I know what you mean EBF. I have had multiple weeks of 0s from Plax, Meachem, Sweed, Morgan and Melhaff. Somehow I am still in 1st place, as of last week. The bad news for me is this leagues runs through the playoffs and most of my big scorers will be done next week, including Brees, MJD, Jennings, Forte (likely), Cutler (possibly). Basically, all of my studs are done and so am I.
Still hanging on to 1st place, but my roster is done. I've got 2 Ds, a kicker and 2 bad WRs left.
Sweed, Limas PIT WR 0.00
t's funny looking back at my draft and writeup for my squad.
My RBs KILLED me. I considered Kevin Smith over Julius Jones, but took Jones. 86 points lost.
I would have taken the Charger QB instead of Rudi Johnson. That would have replaced Minnesota QB. 113 points lost there, and I would have likely easily replaced Rudi's 44 points.
Shockey was a relative bust. The only other TE I would have considered instead of waiting and taking a scrub would have been Owen Daniels (I own him in 3 out of my 4 fantasy leagues). Daniels scored about 90 more than Shockey. But I don't regret the move, only the results.
The Detroit QB ended up being kinda sucky, but I don't regret the pick. Kitna would have put up very solid #s if he was IRed. I figure 40-80 more points with Kitna over the revolving QB door that occurred.
Darrel Jackson sucked, but my WR4-6, Toomer, Northcut, and Gage, were all solid contributors. Calvin broke out, but probably would have scored better throuhg increased receptions with Kitna.
The Rams D cost me points. They were wretched. I actually like Miami and SF as sleepers at that spot, but went with the craptastic Rams. SF scored 36 more points, and Miami scored 77 more and counting. A lot of points left on the table there.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Pretty interesting going into the playoffs.

I'm 79 back in 4th place, so it's likely a 3 horse race between Renesauz, FFGiant, and Bucketheads.

Bucket (jeter23) is probably right; not enough quality playoff players to keep his lead.

FFGiant is in 2nd with Deangelo Williams, Baltimore QB, Lendale, Pitt D, Heap, and L.Pope. If he can get multiple games from Deangelo and Baltimore, he's got a good shot.

Renesauz is in 3rd with Philly QB, Ron Brown, Steve Smith (Car), Vince Jackson, Ward, Scaife, and LJ Smith. McNabb and Steve Smith are his big dogs, with Ward, Brown and V.Jax putting up decent #s. He'll likely fight FFGiant for top spot.

Diesel Posse (me) has Fitzgerald, Minnesota QB, Toomer, Norwood, Gage, and Tenn D. Basically I need Tennessee to face either 'Zona or Minny in the super bowl for me to have a chance at scoring enough points to get back in it.

EBF has a better shot than me. He has Desean Jackson, Ginn, Chris Johnson, Wayne and Rhodes. He is the only top 7 team with Indy players, so if they play 3 or 4 games he'll possibly be getting a big boost that could put him over the top.

NorrisB is right behind EBF, but he might be lacking firepower. He has Balt D and McGahee along with Atlanta's QB and kicker, so if it's a Balt-Atl super bowl, he'll be making up a lot of ground.

:goodposting: Very nice analysis. First 6 games into the season, my team ranked in the very bottom tier in the league. With my high drafted WRs totally screwed up, I thought the season was over for me. Fortunately I nailed almost every RBs I had despite none of them were first 3 rounds picks. I like my chance now but it should a very close finish for the top few teams.

I've been bouncing between 1st and 3rd all season, usually in conjunction with the fortunes of McNabb and the Philadelphia offense.

At this point, I could use Philly winning in the WC round, and relatively quick exits for Indy and Baltimore.

BUT...it seems I have more big dogs left then anyone else, including several that have at least the potential to put up big scores (McNabb, S. Smith, Ronnie Brown, Hines Ward, and Vincent Jackson, plus two or three role players.)

Now, I've probably gaurenteed my downfall.

BusMan's Draft

I was kind of caught totally off guard by the start of this draft. I celebrated the birth of my first child near the beginning, and spent so much time away from the computer that I timed out quite a bit early on and ended up stocking up on RBs early. I'm strong at RB but weak almost everywhere else now. We'll see how that affects my chances.

Anarchy leagues are a real treat---its fun to be forced to think outside of the regular draft box, if you will. My hardest decisions in this draft were always when I tried to find a target that I thought would be playing in the postseason. As the draft went on, I realized these types of players were going way too early, especially considering that teams that look good before a season don't always make it deep into January. This realization had me taking whatever value I could find, regardless of whether I thought the team was a playoff-qualifier. I'll likely have to outscore folks by quite a bit in the regular season to have a chance of winning this thing.

The Picks

I was drafting here in Anarchy 3 and for MBSL 1 at the same time, and in both leagues I pulled a pick at the 8/9 middle of the 16-team league. I really enjoyed these spots as I never had to wait too long to draft and I could at least attempt to scoop any value that fell off the turns.

1.09 - Dallas Cowboys Team QB, QB - DAL/10: QBs were just flying off the board early. I'm glad I got the Cowboys as the third group off the board, as I had them rated slightly higher than the Colts. Plus, Romo doesn't have the injury concerns heading into the season that Brady and Manning do. I'm very pleased with this pick.

2.08 - Larry Johnson, RB - KC/6: This was my first of a series of auto picks thanks to me being away from a computer for too long. Obviously I don't expect LJ to score for me in the playoff weeks, but I'm ok with him as my RB1. Had I actually made the pick I would've considered Braylon Edwards, Antonio Gates, Dallas Clark, and Wes Welker here.

3.09 - Brandon Jacobs, RB - NYG/4: Another auto draft pick. I would have gone with a receiver here had I actually been drafting. That said, LJ and BJ as my top two RBs in a 16 team league ain't too shabby. Brandon has a decentish chance to score for me in the playoffs, to boot.

4.08 - Kevin Curtis, WR - PHI/7: OOF. First I reach for the guy, and then he needs hernia surgery. What a suck.

5.09 - Jonathan Stewart, RB - CAR/9: Another missed pick means another RB on the squad. I'm not really that high on Stewart, as I don't trust him not trusting his toe, and I've seen enough of John Fox's RB plan to know that the incumbent usually gets the bulk of the touches despite any real or perceived talent discrepancy. My draft is really starting to go downhill.

6.08 - Rashard Mendenhall, RB - PIT/6: Now this is just getting ridiculous. Silver lining: I won't need to consider the RB position for the remaining 12 picks of the draft.

7.09 - Tennessee Titans Team QB, QB - TEN/6: At this point I think I've just resigned myself to having crappy WRs. But I also believe this is the point of the draft at which I wake up and actually starting pre-drafting and doing those little things that alert, conscientious, and considerate drafters should do: pay attention. Oddly enough I'm pretty bearish on VY. I guess I'm just counting on his legs to get me some points. I like that this gives me an above average QB squad to complement my good RBs and non-existant WR/TE/DEF/PK.

8.08 - Sidney Rice, WR - MIN/8: I like Rice a lot, but as a WR3 or 4, NOT my de facto WR1 for the first month or so of the season. :puke:

9.09 - Ben Utecht, TE - CIN/8: Ladies and gentleman may I present to you BusMan's first tight end pick in this tight end heavy format, Mr. Benjamin Utecht of the Cincinnati Bengals.

10.08 - D.J. Hackett, WR - CAR/9: Hopefully D.J. will win the #2 job in Carolina and fill in more than admirably during Steve Smith's suspension.

11.09 - Alex Smith, TE - TB/10: BOW BEFORE MY UTECHT/ALEX SMITH TE COMBO, ANARCHY 3!

12.08 - Derek Hagan, WR - MIA/4: Hagan as a WR4. That's insane, but not so terrible considering my receivers. Maybe Pennington to Hagan will be the next Montana to Lake Dawson.

13.09 - Washington Redskins DEF, DEF - WAS/10: I figure I can't really afford to slough off Ds and Ks with my crap pile at TE and WR.

14.08 - Eddie Royal, WR - DEN/8: Royal just might be the only team BusMan player to outperform his draft position. My Broncos homerism has me hoping for at least a game or two in January.

15.09 - Oakland Raiders DEF, DEF - OAK/5: That makes three above average units on my team, to hopefully cover for the two dreadful ones.

16.08 - Robbie Gould, PK - CHI/8: I've always thought the Bears unis were black, not blackish blue. Just shows how often a 28 year old Broncos fan living in Virginia gets to see the Bears play on television.

17.09 - Michael Jenkins, WR PK - ATL/7: Jenkins had been screaming value to me for several rounds now, so I gladly grab him as my darkhorse WR savior.

18.08 - Brandon Coutu, PK - SEA/4: Thank God this travesty is finally over. :thumbup:

The Team

QB Dallas Cowboys, DAL/10QB Tennessee Titans, TEN/6RB Larry Johnson, KC/6RB Brandon Jacobs, NYG/4RB Jonathan Stewart, CAR/9RB Rashard Mendenhall, PIT/6WR Kevin Curtis, PHI/7WR Sidney Rice, MIN/8WR D.J. The way I see this league going:

Reaper wins it.

I'm lucky to finish in the top half, but am more than likely headed for a subpar season like I did last year in Anarchy 4. I do think I have a better than decent shot at finishing last, actually.

It was fun guys good luck to all!
Its nice to have at least one correct preseason idea.

It's a litle bit clearer after last week.....

Bucketheads at 2847 has a lead, and still 4 players alive. Arizona DST, NYG DST, Steve Smith (NYG), and Limas Sweed. With no studs, is his lead big enough to hold on?

Renesauz is in second at 2829, but DOES have a couple of studs alive, and several more. In fact, Rene' has six remaining players, more then anyone else. Eagles QB, Steve Smith (Car), Hines Ward, and Vincent Jackson lead the charge, with potential help from LJ SMith and Bo Scaife. If Carolina and Philly both win this week, it might be over.

ffgiant is a close third at 2823, and has enough firepower left to take the win with the right NFL teams advancing. Balt team QB and Deangelo Williams in the super bowl should be enough if Rene' loses too many players in the divisional playoffs.

NorrisB (2792) is a fairly distant fourth with only slim hopes remaining. His hopes rest on the Ravens DST, McGahee and Heath Miller.

Dieselposse is further behind (2779), but with a little more firepower in Larry Fitzgerald, Justin Gage, Amani Toomer, and the Tenn DST.

EBF is close behind Posse(2778), but is toast with only Desean Jackson and Chris Johnson still scoring (or is he??????)

My take: Bucketheads doesn't have enough firepower to keep that lead. Renesauz has to be the favorite based on pure numbers, but ffgiant doesn't need all that much help to reverse that advantage. Norris doesn't have enough since his main help (in Balt) would also help ffgiant (QB). Dieselposse would need a rare stellar alignment allowing Arizona all the way with Fitgerald starring in every game. It could happen, but...... EBF is an also-ran at this point.

OK, enough analysis. Basically it is just you and me! The biggest showdown will be this weekend.Your team is favored with more impact players left. I only got Bal QB, TEN and CAR RBs, plus PIT defence. It all depends on how many live bodies left after this week.

Rene is taking this one for sure. I can't believe I am even still leading. Enjoyed it this year guys. Have a great offseason.

Very close league this year. Two weeks to go with:

renesauz 2899.36 (PHI TMQB, Hines Ward, LJ Smith)

ffgiant 2873.02 (BAL TMQB, Todd Heap, Leonard Pope, PIT DEF)

Diesel Posse 2845.82 (Larry Fitzgerald)
