Anarchy Opens His Concert Vault Again: Big in the 80's (1 Viewer)

I'm going to mix things up a little for this one. (Very loosely) in honor of Memorial Day, I put together a set of "Big in the 80's" music DVDs (all audio files, no video files) featuring artists that were popular in that era. I will post the contents as I have them finalized (see below). If you want one, you are either middle aged, younger with impeccably good taste (and likely fine tailoring), or just curious. Any or all of those work. As always, 50 hours of music crammed onto each DVD.

Since the Led Zeppelin giveaway got very cumbersome and costly (sent out almost 300 DVDs for that one), I am going to have to do things differently moving forward, as some folks keep taking handouts for free and don't contribute to help defer costs. So I will give away for free ONE of the EDIT: FOUR DVDs to anyone that wants one. If you want the other two, you'll have to PayPal me a donation.

Here are the four options:

Big in the 80's - Rock Edition: Features performances by (in alphabetical order):

I would be interested in the set of 3 as well.  Will plan to send another donation.

Not sure of the dates of the various shows that you are planning on using, but have a sweet FM show from The Hooters from Thanksgiving 2005.  Show has all of their hits (And We Danced, All You Zombies, Hanging On A Heartbeat, Day By Day, 500 Miles, Satellite, and Karla With A K) as well as more hits like One Of Us and Time After Time that Eric Brazilian wrote with others and other Hooters songs.  Happy to pass it along for evaluation to see if it would fit one of the disks.

The Hooters are one of the bands on the fringe at the moment. I have a Thanksgiving show from them I was considering including, but that is from Philadelphia in 1987. Been trying my best to stick to 80's artists actually performing in the 80's whenever possible to give it more of an authentic feel from the time frame. I'm sure it really doesn't make that much of a difference doing it that way.

Not that people are going to care all that much, but re-configuring things to now have 4 DVDs . . . adding a "Pop" category. Will update the listings once I have things mapped out. "Pop" will not be pop in the typical sense of the word, just groups in this group that were "popular" (without being Madonna or Lionel Richie). So The Police, R.E.M., U2, Rolling Stones, Prince, etc. will end up in this category (to free up space in the other ones).

This thread = the old tumbleweeds emoticon. Less going on here than in Johnny Manziel's football career.

Anarchy, I sat back on this one to give others a chance. Didn't want to monopolize your generosity. If others aren't jumping in and taking advantage of this awesome music I'd certainly be interested in the Rock and Hard Rock editions.

Love all of them. Would there be a way to just get the audio versions, besides converting the DVDs?
They are all audio files. No video files. All shows are decent quality mp3 files, mostly radio broadcasts. I only put them on DVDs because they hold way more than CDs.

This is near perfect . Thompson Twins is the turd in the punchbowl

Ok, great. I just thought video when I heard DVD. While it would be cool to see some of this as video, I'm sure I'm not the only one who would rarely watch it, but will listen to it a ton!!

Thanks!!

I was also sitting back to give others a chance,  but will gladly take an alternative set

Down to the last couple of spots left in the artist list, so the list in the OP is like 98% what is included. Will try to add in one or do others but almost out of space.

First few went out. I think I was able to match up people's names, addresses, board names, and requests. In the future, if people could somehow get me all of that information altogether that would help so I don't have to sift through PMs, emails, PayPal records, and/or prior music mailings to access your information.

Will still take on any newbies if anyone is interested.

:kicksrock:

I've been headed to the mailbox the last few days hoping the package had arrived...
It takes time to properly prepare 2,554 separate audio tracks (which is what is on this set).

But because you are such an ardent support of the arts, I will make a special trip to the post office to get yours in the mail today.

Received mine in yesterday's mail !!

Thanks  :excited:

@Anarchy99  Disks got here today - great stuff as always!

I think there may be two glitches on the Rod Stewart stuff - about 30+ minutes of dead space following Maggie May and Young Turks.

Thanks again!

Not sure what happened. Emailed you the files without the dead space.

If anyone else wants those two tracks with the proper time, let me know.

Out of curiosity what's the format of these files? Of course I could just pop into the computer when I get home but thought I'd ask.

P.S. Thanks for doing this! Awesome!
