I was talking to a Broncos insider on the sidelines at Valley Ranch today, and he mentioned that he thinks they are grooming Hall to be ready to take over when Henry gets worn down in 2-3 years... I know its really impossible to project that far ahead, but it certainly got my attention.

Definitely a newsworthy item, but I'd still temper my optimism. I was never a big of fan of Hall and it's not an encouraging sign that he already washed out with one NFL team. Denver is a great spot for him, but I still say it's a longshot that the ever holds down the starting spot there. Mediocre talent doesn't last in the NFL. There are just too many good players chomping at the bit.

RB usually don't need to be groomed, so I think the team bringing in Henry says what needs to be said about Hall. Like others have posted, they'll likely bring in a new back instead of giving the job to Hall.

Just like we discussed re: Marshall, you can't really scout heart, desire and sacrifice. If a guy looks horrible playing against NFL regulars, then maybe the talent isn't there. But if he doesn't get the opportunity or gets in the coach's doghouse, there is the possibility that it's his heart/brain and not a negative indicator of his talent. Like you mention, I have heard that Hall's issues have been with hard work. If he does turn that around, his talent may shine. Another RB I liked coming into the NFL like that is Ryan Moats. Everything I hear about his failings with Philly are centered around the "can't learn the playbook" theme, not the "this guy blows" theme. Not learning the play book could be a smarts thing or it could be a desire/hardwork thing. But keep in mind that the Eagles play book is acknowledged to be very, very difficult to master. So maybe he "gets it" with another team. Of course, the injury may have closed his window. A contrast to that, FWIW, is Eric Shelton. Living here in Charlotte, I've never really heard that Eric wasn't getting the playbook or he wasn't working hard on running lower or that he is a troublemaker. He just isn't that good. That likely will not be fixed by a change of scenery.

great point about Andre Hall Bloom. We've seen it in practice - this kid has the type of skill set that no other Broncos back has (but he's not on the level of THenry). Henry has the power, pad level, cutback ability. MBell has instincts, a little power, no wiggle and no speed. Sapp has power, vision, and more power. Andre Hall has explosiveness that really stands out on screen passes, etc. I like his vision and instincts. Inside running is not his forte. He is determined, but he just doesn't have much success going up the gut.

Ryan Moats biggest problem is confidence. Bloom and I talked to one of his former college teammates on the sidelines of the Shrine Game practices. He told us that Moats would really get out of his game if the confidence issue came up in his head. Not being able to learn the playbook has to REALLY shake his confidence.

Andre Hall is one of my favorite sleepers, and any Denver RB has a chance to be good. Being explosive with good vision and insincts sure never hurts, and he has the speed that Denver RBs lack.

I agree Hall has talent but barring injury to Henry I doubt he'll ever be the starter for the Broncos. That's not really a knock on him as much as it's a recognition of the RB talent entering the league in the next couple years. There's always the possibility of that the Broncos are grooming Hall, but that doesn't seem to be their MO.

These kids need to wake up. Next year's draft will replace any slackers (at RB) in a heartbeat imo.
