Andre Johnson Injury? (1 Viewer)

I'm dying at both QB (Rothlesburger, Cutler, Warner) and WR (Harrison, AJ, Evans, Bowe and some scrubs). I have LT, Peterson and Portis. I'm gonna move Portis and much depends on Johnson's return as to whether I move him for a QB or WR. Just gimme something here this week. :ptts:

What is this recent news mentioned in the upgrade/downgrade that indicates he may be out until week 11?
On his radio interview (no link), he said that he is crossing his fingers about Andre Johnson playing this week, but will know more on Wednesday and as the week progressed. Said this game has been the target for Johnson to play, but came nowhere close to saying yes.
Megan Manfull, of the Houston Chronicle, reports Houston Texans WR Andre Johnson (knee) is not going to play Week 7. He could be another two weeks away from returning.

Guys, as a native Houstonian and fellow FFBaller....think week 11 return for Andre Johnson....

Looks like Megan got the wrong Manfull, from rotoworld:

Andre Johnson-WR-Texans Oct. 16 - 12:49 pm et

Texans head coach Gary Kubiak is "very, very hopeful" that WR Andre Johnson will be available for Week 7 against the Titans.

Kubiak said Johnson is "progressing well" and is expected to run in practice on Tuesday. Earlier reports suggested Johnson could miss this week and be out through the Texans bye in Week 10. Even if active, Johnson would have a tough matchup against the Titans and he likely would be limited, but positive news all the same.

hopin AJ gets in there this week, knocks the rust off and then comes back full strength week 8 against the SD secondary, plus week 8 is bye week hell

How bad does this hurt Walter? Read somewhere here that Jones is not really an offensive factor at this point (could have misunderstood someone). If that's true, you figure it's between Walter and Davis.

Do you actually have knowledge on this, or is your proximity to the Texans and your participation in fantasy football your link to the information on Johnson?Since we have been getting conflicting reports from the team and the press paid to cover the team, I'm just a bit skeptical that a local fan knows something that seems, currently, unknowable.

My guess is them losing last week sped up his healing time :pickle:

Texans | A. Johnson OUT for Week 7

Mon, 15 Oct 2007 17:03:35 -0700

Megan Manfull, of the Houston Chronicle, reports Houston Texans WR Andre Johnson (knee) is not going to play Week 7. He could be another two weeks away from returning.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

From houstontexans.com:

The return of ‘Dre: Wide receiver Andre Johnson, who hasn’t played since suffering a sprained left knee late in the Week 2 win at Carolina, may return for this week’s crucial home game against division rival Tennessee.

“He’s progressing well; (we’re) very, very hopeful that he’s ready to go this week,” Kubiak said. “We’ll run him tomorrow. We liked the progress we saw last week, so we’ve just kind of got our fingers crossed that he’s ready to go this week.”

Johnson was among the league leaders with 14 receptions for 262 yards and three touchdowns in the first two games of the season, and the Texans have scored only four offensive touchdowns since he was sidelined. The team should know more about Johnson’s status by Tuesday or Wednesday. Stay tuned to HoustonTexans.com for updates throughout the week.

Well, one's from Kubiak and the other is from Megan Full'oman; I'm gonna go with Kubiak.

It doesn't sound like he'd be usable this week. The quotes spark a debate between "pre bye" and "post bye" returns, but what could you really expect in week 7?

So Kubiak is very very hopeful that he'll play. That's a huge difference from saying it's very likely that he'll play. Of course the coach would HOPE his best player can play...

Like Honk said, today on 610 Kubes said that when AJ originally hurt his knee, they were all looking for him to return for the Titians game. Kubes said that AJ did some running last week and will run more tomorrow (Tuesday) and they would know by Wed. if he will be able to play this sunday.

I think he’s day-to-day and he’s just waiting any day for us to turn him loose with the guys as far as getting involved in the football part of it, but he’s running at full speed and cutting at full speed. We’ll just have to make the best decision for him, but he’ll be day-to-day.”on the chances that WR Andre Johnson will play Sunday) “I have a hard time telling you that today. Everything is so good; the rehab process and everything he’s doing is so positive, but ya’ll know as well as I do until you step out here on the field and do it, it’s hard to make that call. I would say, let’s wait and see to tomorrow, let’s see if he does get some plays in with the team. You know, he looked pretty close to full speed, so we’ll see.”kubiak after practice today.....

Nothing much new, saw this on Texans website. http://houstontexans.com/news/Story.asp?story_id=3791

(on Johnson’s status) "I think he is day-to-day. He ran hard yesterday for the first time. He ran a little bit last week. We’ll find out where he is at today, as far as all the cutting and all those things it takes to play the game. He is doing well. Physically he is very, very close, but we’re also going to smart and play him when he is 100 percent ready to go."

As an AJ owner, I really hope they don't play him this week. If he's still iffy, I'd rather they hold him one more week, so he doesn't come in too early, gets messed up and is gone for the season.....just my :goodposting:

Very good news, IMO, and makes it seem less likely he'll be held out until after the bye. My guess is he gets one more week off and returns in Week 8.

Kubes? KUBES??!! Add another ridiculous nickname to the long list. "Kubes" is way up there on the gay scale. I love how they saved exactly one letter.

BK, I do realize that was a quote you posted.

I'm wondering why there seems to be less definitive information coming out about injuries this year. I don't ever recall a year with so many players seemingly in limbo. I've never seen anything remotely firm on how long AJ or SJax would be out, and it seems to drag on and on. I guess it's all about keeping the other NFL teams in the dark, but it sure makes things tricky for us. I say that with the full realization that our "needs" are trivial to the NFL folks.

It would just be nice if they'd come out and say the guy's out for X-Y number of weeks instead of this wait-and-see garbage. In my case, if AJ can go this week, I'll use him because I'm out of options, and I don't want to spend on a waiver wire move Friday only to cut the guy the next day to activate AJ.

It may have been Elway who first started calling Kubiak "Kubes". When it was first announced Kubiak would be the offensive coordinator of the Broncos, Elway said something along the likes of, "Alright, coach Kubes!"If it wasn't Elway that started it, then it goes back quite a ways regardless.

Truly frustrating from a fantasy football perspective, but unfortunately teams operate in the way that best helps them win, not helps fantasy football players win.Being as vague as the NFL allows with injuries gives teams an advantage as their future opponents have more to prepare for if they don't know if a player in going to go or not.

Andre Johnson-WR- Texans Oct. 17 - 9:18 pm et

Andre Johnson (knee) went through some cutting and sprinting drills on the side during Texans practice Wednesday.

Johnson began running exactly a week ago. The Texans consider him day-to-day and remain hopeful he'll play Sunday, but that's far from a guarantee.

Houston 790AM said at around 5pm in a local sports update for the Charlie Pulillo show, that they spoke to Andre himself and he had declared himself out for this week. I trust them as a good source. Now could Andre be playing mind games...possibly.

Texans :: WR

WR Johnson Still Uncertain This Week

Megan Manfull, Jerome Solomon, Houston Chronicle - [Full Article]

Texans WR Andre Johnson has been doing everything possible to get himself ready to return to the field, but he's experiencing weakness in his knee and is uncertain if he'll be able to play this week or even next. Johnson said Dr. Walter Lowe told him his knee injury typically has a six-week recovery period. Johnson was hurt four weeks ago. "I wish I could say in a week or two I'll be back on the field," Johnson said. "But I can't say that. ... After I run for so long, it gets pretty weak."

Andre Johnson says doctors have told him his knee sprain is a six-week injury, and wasn't optimistic when asked Wednesday about his chances of playing against the Titans in Week 7.

Johnson was injured four weeks ago, and although he has begun running sprints and making some cuts, doesn't appear to be ready for hitting and game action. "I wish I could say in a week or two I'll be back on the field," Johnson said. "But I can't say that. After I run for so long, (the knee) gets pretty weak." Look for Andre' Davis to get another start Sunday. Oct. 18 - 12:10 pm et

yuck.. it's looking more & more that he will in fact be out until the bye week.. Wow.. that would make it an 8 week injury...

About Andre: Wide receiver Andre Johnson has been running, cutting and going through catching drills after practice, but the Pro Bowler is still not sure when he will return to the starting lineup.

Johnson has been anxious to play. Meanwhile, the Texans medical team has been reminding the five-year veteran that he is two weeks shy of the six weeks needed to recover from a knee sprain.

“I just wish I was playing,” Johnson said. “That’s about it. Every day, I’m in here rehabbing, doing what I need to do to try to get myself better.”

Johnson’s knee has improved to the point that the team is listing him as day-to-day, but the wideout isn’t moving at full speed.

“My leg’s still not strong,” Johnson said. “I’m still trying to get my range of motion and things like that, so that’s just the biggest thing.”

The injury has been especially frustrating for Johnson because he had begun developing chemistry with quarterback Matt Schaub, especially in long yardage situations.

“It doesn’t matter how many games it is left in the season, but I just want to get out there and just play with Matt, it being his first year here, and it’s hopefully something that we can have around for a long time,” Johnson said.

...Johnson said Dr. Walter Lowe told him his knee injury typically has a six-week recovery period. ...
Was this 6-week diagnosis anywhere in the news when AJ got hurt? Everything I read said a few weeks, maybe a month then. Now we find out his doctor told him 6 weeks. That sure would've been good to know a month ago.I guess Houston is the New England of the South now.

It may be time to try and move AJ and try and get some good value for him. This appears to be turning into more and more of a gamble that he returns 100% or close to where he was for the first 2 weeks.

Not now, everyone's wary. No value. The time to move him was when people thought it would be a couple weeks, unfortunately. Me being one of them, unfortunately.

Agreed, now you have got to hang on and hope that he comes back for the stretch run and the playoffs. If you can afford the roster spot now he'll payoff when you need him to. However, if you are in need of a win now you need to find someone who is in love with AJ and try to get something for him.I just got him, someone dropped him. I'm hanging on, but there is a possible trade in the works with a guy who loves AJ.I send AJ, Welker, and S. Young he send Cal J., G. Jennings, and Benson. Not that you care about my team, but thought it would give perspective on what AJ is fetching. Basically he wanted AJ for Calvin straight up and I turned it into trying to get something for S. Young as well.He also has J. Walker, and today he'll learn that he's hurt so the trade wont go I assume. So I'm hanging on to AJ and running with him to the playoffs.

I texted Rich Lord on 610 and he said that he talked to Kubes off the air and Kubes did not sound that confident about AJ playing, and the phrase Kubes used was that "he had his fingers crossed" about AJ playing.
Kubes? KUBES??!! Add another ridiculous nickname to the long list. "Kubes" is way up there on the gay scale. I love how they saved exactly one letter. :lmao:

BK, I do realize that was a quote you posted.
Sorry to bring this up again, but I'm not buying that story. Sounds made up, number one, and having lived there during that time, and following the Broncos for awhile, I've never heard him called that. Yeah, reading your post again makes me call total  . What, were you there when Elway got the news?

"If it wasn't Elway that started it, then it goes back quite a ways regardless."
