Andre Johnson is the best WR in the NFL... (1 Viewer)

The guy is incredible. If you own him in PPR leagues you almost pinch yourself some weeks...he is just throwing it down all the time. Look at these numbers he has and lets include going back to last season, and maybe 2006...

Weeks 2 and 3 this year were pretty forgettable but he has 56 receptions which is tops in the NFL,a nd his 772 yards I think are best too, only 2 TDs but those are going to come.

10/112

9/131/TD

10/178/TD

11/141

11/143...my goodness he racks up enough for him and another WR in your lineup.

2007

7/142/TD

7/120/TD

6/120/TD

9/116/TD

9/82/TD

6/86/TD

7/74/TD

6/74

Granted he was out half the year but on a PPG basis and especially PPR, he is awful tough to beat.

He is on pace for 128 receptions, 1,760yds...granted it would be nice to see him cross the goal line a little more but I'll take these numbers all day long. I know there are a few WR ahead of him in FF this year but in PPR leagues he has to be right up there, and I think he is one of the best WR in the NFL. His size coupled with great hands, good speed, I believe he will go on to be very much like Terrell Owens, they are built very similar. TDs are coming, I can feel it. And Schaub is getting better and better.

There were some threads pointing to him being a bust early in the season...what a joke. And rather than bump those, lets start a new one with some appreciation in it.

I've loved this guys ability since his 'U' days. He is certainly one of the most gifted WRs in the NFL. IMO he has the ability that Calvin Johnson owners want to believe Calvin has. Only with far less hype. Wish he could stay healthy and really show it off.

 There is no WR in the NFL who exceeds CJ in talent. AJ is one of very few who come close to matching it, if not actually matching it. Here's the difference: Dan Orlovsky. Jon Kitna. [insert: Other turd.]Ridiculous post. (And I don't own CJ in any leagues, unfortunately.)

Yeah, that David Carr guy was awsome!

I think the Texans are a team on the rise with Kubiak coaching. I would love to have Texan skill players on my rosters next year. It is too early to say now of course, but it is something to watch for next season in redrafts. Act now in dynasties. I think AJ, Shaub, and Slaton may be worth reaching a half round above their ADP in next years draft. Kevin Walter will be a good late round grab next year too.

This guy knows stuff...................of course I'm a homer

He just came through a VERY EASY part of his schedule. Let's see if he can keep it going as his schedule gets harder.

He probably can keep producing at a good rate, but he will not be getting 10+ receptions a game much longer.

Thanks! I forgot to mention that I will be thrilled to have Owen Daniels on any and all of my teams again next year. I don't think I'll be able to wait as long as I did this season though. The classic during my draft when one guy was giving me crap for not having a TE yet in like the 12th round. Some guys had their backups already. Now I sit in first place with the #4 TE. Oh well, I regress, this is a thread about Andre Johnson, sorry for the hijack. Andre is money, too bad I don't have him in any leagues this year. Next year will be different.

Hey, don't put salt in his womb!

There probably aren't many TEs who exceed Vernon Davis in talent either.CJ looks like he might be something special but let's see him prove it on the field first.

AJ is currently first in my 12 team PPR. I love having AJ, Brandon Marshall, & Roddy White (flex),
That is a thuggernaut
Similar to how I drafted - Fitz, Marshall, Roddy White. Trade White for Colston when he went down - I regret that trade even though it didn't hurt me until this week. AJ is sick. So hard to say who is number one, since all the great ones have streaks like he has, which is why they are top 5. In no particular order I like AJ, Fitz, Marshall, Smitty, Boldin, Wayne..ok so 6.

That's why I grabbed him as my WR1 in the second round, just knew by his second half 2007 #'s he'd be an elite WR.

No Superfreak love? He may be getting old but still probably the most physically gifted WR we've ever seen.

Good point Buck
Eh, not so much. This point is only raised against players who don't fit the consensus preconceptions. Did it matter that Randy Moss faced a cake schedule last year? Would it matter if TO or Reggie Wayne was doing it against weak opponents? AJ vs Tenn last year: 9/ 116/ 1 TDAJ vs. Carolina last year: 7/ 120/ 2 TDsAJ vs. Tampa last year: 9/ 82/ 1 TD

Houston has played some incredibly awful defenses though. I think that everyone expected him to blow up through this part of the season. AJ is a beast... but the team, including his QB falls apart when up against a good defense.

I am still most comfortable having Jennings. He was #1 scoring in my league heading into his Bye week. Could have scored even more too... except for last week when they stopped throwing the ball when well ahead. I actually passed up AJ for Housh in my draft. With Palmer in... I would still want Housh... but I would like to have AJ instead right now.

No they don't. The Texans offense is top-five. Sure, they played like crap against Pittsburgh, but they've moved the ball well ever since that game. The score of the Titans game is nowhere near as close as that game was. The Texans got it into the Tennessee red zone repeatedly but failed to convert, either through turnovers or poor coaching decisions. Kubiak cost the Texans that game as much as Schaub did. And AJ dropped two TD passes he normally converts. You can excuse his performance this season as a consequence of a soft October schedule, but those of us who watch this team every week know better.

in a PPR I would take 1. Marshall 2. AJ 3. Fitz
I must brag...I own all three. 8 team league. Fitz in the 3rd, Johnson in the 4th, Marshall in the 6th. I think we need to keep a little perspective here, however. After week 2, everyone thought Marshall was by far the best and by week 3 everyone was down on Johnson. You've got to keep an even keel in this league. That's why I'd consider trading any one of these guys if it could bring me a solid but underachieving receiver and an upgrade at another position. Keep your eye on Reggie Wayne, cause you know he'll end up with 1400 and 8 - 10 tds. To give an idea of AJ's value - I was just offered TO and LT for Bush and AJ. Two months ago it would look like robbery. But today I couldn't bring myself to pull the trigger, even with Bush's injury.

But wait, I thought because Andre Johnson had never been a top 5 WR before, he never could be in the future.

/sarcasm

Btw, why all the crazy love for Marshall, but not Jennings?

Most have Marshall #1, and Jennings not even worth mentioning in their top 3.

Marshall:

166/1

155/1

77/1

25/0

98/0

77/0

Jennings:

91/0

167/0

115/0

109/2

87/1

84/1

32/0

yeah seriously. Jennings really get no love from people. Besides last week when winds were 30mph and GB had a big lead, he's been the epitome of consistent.

The season isn't over.
I definitely don't expect AJ to be in the top 5 let alone top 10 at the end of the season. There are a lot of WRs who can put up good numbers against teams like Cin, Det, etc.
Maybe you should go do the math on his last 16 games played before you post anything else in this thread.

Maybe you can give us that list again of the 20 WR's that will finish with more FF points than him.

Here is the danger that I see with AJ. The defenses get tougher... people get wore down. AJ is being used in a major way, and they used up their bye week in week 2. That is a long, tough season. Don't be suprised to see AJ too banged up to play sooner or later. When you target a receiver that much, they tend to take A LOT of hits.... even when they aren't balls that they catch. To have to go the entire season, with the bye week coming all the way back in week 2 is going to be touch on his body.

In PPR leagues, the current Top 10 in PPR based on ppg are:

1. Boldin, Anquan 26.4

2. Johnson, Andre 22.9

3. White, Roddy 22.4

4. Marshall, Brandon 22.4

5. Smith, Steve 22.1

6. Fitzgerald, Larry 21.9

7. Jennings, Greg 20.4

8. Johnson, Calvin 19.3

9. Moss, Santana 19.2

10. Evans, Lee 18.6

Roddy does all that while playing in a run-heavy offense and without any other threats in the passing game.

Hate owning three of these guys in a dynasty
