Andre Johnson's Dynasty Value (1 Viewer)

When he's healthy he puts up great numbers. How valuable is he in a dynasty league? I have Welker, Fitz, Cotchery and Jennings. Would Johnson be an upgrade for any of these guys. Does anyone know how healthy he is now?

By next season, he'll be 100% for sure. And one could argue he's as good as any WR you have. I'd put him and Fitz in the same tier, with Jennings and Welker not too far behind.

I franchised him along with westbrook....i see the texans as a team on the rise that will focus the offense around A.J....he`s healthy and he`s dominating.

I would take him over all those guys. (I personally would deal Fitz for Johnson....and get quite a bit more in addition to Johnson. I'm not going to post the #'s from Leinart-Fitzgerald from Leinart-Warner, but you'll see a entirely different, more-run oriented offense when Leinart takes over next year. Much like we saw in early 2007). I'd take Boldin over Fitz with Leinart under center. For the record, I am a Cardinals homer and unless we find a primetime RB, I can't say I'm really looking forward to Leinart in 2008 after seeing what he did in 2007.I'd take Johnson over Welker, Cotchery, Jennings. I think he's got the highest upside of any WR outside of Moss in the league. However, his downside is probably on par with #'s that Welker/Jennings could put up next year. That I believe Schaub can and will be a big-time QB, I have Johnson easily ranked in my top 5 dynasty WR's.

With that in mind, how do you see the QB situation working out? Is Leinart the starter for sure? (it's been discussed elsewhere, but I don't remember if you chimed in)

I'd put the odds of Leinart starting opening day 2008 at 95%. Only way I'd see otherwise is if he weren't healed. If he's not starting opening day for a reason outside injury, his AZ Cardinal career is as good as over.Cardinals have invested far too much in Leinart than to base off of 4, for the most part, abysmal games in 2007. He didn't know what he was doing (where to go with the ball) in Whisenhunt's offense this past year. Chalk up the indecisiveness to a new offense for 2007, but if he looks likewise midway through 2008 (and a full inactive season/offseason to get a grip on the playbook), I'd jump ship.

As far as dynasty ranking, I'd put in around 20 for QB's. I don't think he has the great upside because of dynamic WR's. I expect them to replace James in the next year or two (people are in the area still regret passing on All Day.....no matter what Levi Brown did this past year) and turn into a run-first offense. I see his upside as someone like Jake Delhomme and his solid year of 2-3 (?) years ago.

In addition, Whisenhunt already started:

"Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt made it clear after Sunday's season finale that Matt Leinart remains his likely starting QB in 2008.

"I don't believe in a player losing his job because of an injury, which is what happened with Matt," Whisenhunt said. Kurt Warner threw 27 TD passes, completed 62.3% of his throws, and is probably a top 15 quarterback in the league, but Leinart is the future for a young ballclub. It would likely take a terrible offseason for Leinart to not be starting in Week 1 of 2008."

Very little risk. He's up there with Fitz....well above your other guys.
What AJ are you talking about? Twice in the past 3 years he's finished with less than 800 receiving yards. Plus to put him on the same level as fitz is a joke considering themost yardage he's had is 1,147 yards. I say all this as someone who owns andre johnson in a dynasty/

So trade him then...

In 5 years, here are his season-by-season breakdowns.66/97679/114278/847 (pro-rated numbers)103/1147107/1513 (pro-rated numbers)Seems very consistent and reliable. Clearly the #1 option on an offense that's clearly on the rise. In each of his seasons with Kubiak, he's posted a 100-reception pace- two events that I think are probably related. In his first post-Carr year, his numbers spike through the roof- two events that I think are probably related. He's also got all-world talent, and not only is his situation ideal because the offense is improving, but he also has virtually no competition for touches. He posts numbers with Schaub and he posts numbers with Sage. Compare AJ's numbers with Schaub to AJ's numbers with Sage, and then compare both of them to Fitzgerald's numbers with Leinart.
