Andre Roberts (1 Viewer)

I see Andre Roberts slipping in a lot of rookie drafts. I assume this is because of the perceived quagmire of WR's on the Cardinals roster. I think what some people are missing is that Breaston is only one a one year contract right now and Roberts drafting could signal that the Cards do not intend on giving him a LT deal after this year. They have already proven that they don't want to spend/or can't afford top $$ on a WR besides Fitzgerald. Roberts is a talented PR as well which conveniently takes care of that responsibility. I realize Doucet is still in the mix but I think you will see a battle for the #2 and #3 WR spots in 2011 between Doucet and Roberts.

I'm a fan of his game and I've got him on my roster in several money dynasty leagues. As I've mentioned previously, he reminds me a lot of Eddie Royal from a skill set/body type/playing style standpoint. They look almost identical when they move. I also see some shades of Santonio Holmes and Derrick Mason. Roberts doesn't have Santonio's deep speed, but he's not slow either. In a best case scenario I could see him becoming another Mason: a smallish, lightning quick possession WR who quietly dominates.

It will be a surprise if he's anything more than the #3 receiver for Arizona next season, but in the long run I think he has the potential to develop into a quality #2 opposite Fitzgerald. He's one of the most fluid, athletic WRs in the draft. The downside is that he's just a tad on the small side and he might get pigeonholed into a slot/returner role like Royal has been recently.

Still, from a raw talent standpoint he's my favorite of the WRs who were drafted in rounds 2-4. He just looks like a player. Very low bust risk IMO. The only question is, how high is his ceiling?

"The only question is, how high is his ceiling?"

I'm guessing not high in foreseeable future with a lame QB situation and 2 other WR's well ahead on the depth chart

I don't think much of Doucet so I don't view him as much in the way at all. Breaston looks like a good receiver but he only signed a one year deal. The Cardinals will have to sign Fitzgerald to a huge contract next year so I'm thinking they might trade Breaston instead of giving him the big deal he'll want. The worst case scenario for Roberts is if Breaston gets signed to a long-term deal so there is a risk that he stays buried on the depth chart.

I think saying that best case scenario roberts is mason is unfair. Best case scenario is greg jennings. Jennings was 4th on the depth chart in a very unexciting green bay offense, and in 3 years down the road managed to become a top option in the offense.

dont worry about the 2 mediocre-above average receivers in front of him. it can be argued that breaston is just as much of a slot guy as roberts is. Does 1 inch height difference make that much of a difference for NFL coaches? i dont think so.

give roberts 3 years and chances are he will be a top 15 receiver. hes that good

I've heard the Jennings comparison before and it doesn't really work for me. I think Jennings is more of a vertical threat finesse type like an Ochocinco/Wayne whereas Roberts is more of a beat-you-with-quickness underneath target like Mason/Royal.

Either way, he's my favorite WR to grab in the second round of rookie drafts this year.

I saw on another fantasy football site where Roberts was ranked as the #5 rookie WR (after Bryant, Thomas, Benn & Tate) and #14 overall.

How does he compare with Emmanuel Sanders and his situation in Pittsburgh? I've been seeing some rookie drafts with Sanders going before Roberts.
