Andrew Luck - the other Rookie QB (1 Viewer)

Shark Pool has been really quiet on him, and Tannehill for that matter. Would like to hear some discussion on him, besides the Jets game Luck has been having a great season.

Looks good to me, but stats are not great. The high number of attempts has masked his pretty mediocre YPA and completion percentage. On the other hand, the fact that he's chucking it so often might be part of the reason why those numbers are down.

I have caught pieces of a few Colts games and it's obvious that they have no rushing attack. Luck is carrying the offense on his back. He actually has some decent weapons in Wayne, Hilton, Allen, and Fleener, but three of those guys are rookies and the lack of a credible running game puts the whole offense in bad spots. They need to beef up their line and add a legitimate #1 running back in the offseason. A viable #2 outside WR is also a need.

I still like what I see enough to consider Luck a rock solid top 4 dynasty QB along with Rodgers, Cam, and Griffin. It is a bit of a stretch to rank him that high because the production isn't on par with the others, but I'm a believer in his talent and I think he's on track to become the guy people expected him to be. Definitely still a buy/hold for me and a guy I won't be trading any time soon.

All of the rookie QBs are doing well this year! I like seeing that.

I was just talking to someone the other day about how Luck is kinda flying under the radar since everyone is gushing about RGIII. Luck already has 3 games where he threw for over 300 yards. He has 7 TDs and 7 INTs on the season with 1 rushing TD. He is only completing about 53% of his passes compared to 70% for RGIII, but as was mentioned I think it is because of how often he throws. Those numbers will typically be lower. Once he gets his timing down with the WRs and gets into a comfort zone with some consistency, those numbers will improve. RGIII has more veterans on his team at the moment and that is probably helping him to transition faster as well as have more immediate success.

I really like what I've seen out of Luck. He has "it". It's almost like Peyton is sitting out there again (in his earlier years). Remember in Peytons rookie season he threw for over almost 4,000 yards and had 20+ TDs to 20+ INTs if I'm not mistaken. Luck might be on pace for that. If they could get an improved O-line, a stud RB to bring back memories of Marshall Faulk and Edgerrin James, and one more playmaker at WR this team will be a team to be reckoned with. Especially in the weak AFC South where Jacksonville will be rebuilding AGAIN for a couple/few years and TEN has to decide what they have at QB and rebuild their O-line. Ofcourse there is Houston, but I expect the Colts to be able to compete with them before the other 2 teams in that division.

I thought Weeden was gonna be another NFL failure coming from a spread offense in college after that first game, but he has turned it around since then and has actually helped that team be competitive. That team is soooooo young! Rookies at every skill position almost. If they can get some explosive playmakers and some stability in the coaching staff and front office, the Browns fans may finally have something positive to look forward to. They deserve it.

Lots to be excited about with this years crop of rookie Qbs. Reminiscent of 1983.

Weedon has done pretty well himself...

#11 QB from week 2 on in my league. Take away that horrible game 1 performance, and he has not really had a bad game.

59.69% Completion percentage, 1401 Passing yards, 7 TD, 6 INT in last 5 games.

I think people judge Luck harshly because of what RG3 is doing (and what Cam did last season.)

As the OP said, this kid is running the entire offence himself. He is getting very little help from the defence, running game or offensive line. He's mainly throwing to a bunch of rookies and he's still got us to 2-3.

What he is achieving is incredible.

Having watched a lot of Luck's snaps this year I can tell you that it is amazing how much production he is leaving out there. He has been good, but with just a slight improvement in timing and accuracy he is capable of putting up sick numbers. I would value him over any young QB out there right now including RG3 and Cam.

I think Luck is a very good #2 this year....makes the move to a solid #1 next year and then becomes elite in 2014. All contingent upon Indy giving him some weapons...would actually help him if Indy had another lousy year or 2 overall to give him that Edge/Harrison weapons using high draft picks.

Andrew Luck will be the best QB in the NFL within 2 or 3 years.
Best qb not named Rodgers or Griffin, yes.
I'll give you Rodgers. Remember Cam Newton last year? Also, if RG3 keeps running like he has been, he'll take some big hits and get hurt ala Vick.
Pretty sad that Colts fans have to hope Griffin gets hurt to justify passing on him. I'm sure Luck will never get hurt with the shots he takes every game. No, he's invincible.

Griffin could never miss a game and I'd still take Luck over him as QBs.

I doubt anyone is looking for justification on taking Luck over Griffin. The game isn't played on Yahoo.com or any other fantasy football website, and the next time a read option QB leads his team to a Super Bowl victory will be the first

This is true. He's leaving a lot of points out there. I'm happy with him, though. He's a QB1 right now even with last week's performance. His aDOT is also third or fourth among QBs, despite protestations to the contrary.

Do you know how ignorant this statement is? I haven't heard a single Colts fan say they would have rather had RGIII. Let's see, RGIII already got a bump on his head due to his style of play. How long before he takes another and concussions start becoming chronic for him? I like RGIII and Luck, and I hope they are both successful, but I would rather have Luck any day of the week. RGIII would be the consolation prize to me.

This sums it up for me as well.In dynasty I had the number 1 rookie pick in my league. I wavered over and over between Luck and RGIII.

I decided to go with Luck as I felt he offered the least amount of bust potential and that his upside was Brady, Manning, Brees, Rodger's class. Even today in such limited time I still feel Luck will be as good as those guys, and I although I think he is great I am not convinced RGIII will achieve what those guys have. I think career wise Luck will build the better overall resume in fantasy and in NFL.

They need a game-changing wr so bad and o-line help. For me, every one of these running qbs show, at some point, that they don't have the passing skills of a Manning. It's just easier to take off and run and it seems to stunt their growth. I picked Luck in a dynasty league knowing that RG3 will be better the first year or 2. I'm playing for the next 10 years though and I have no problem taking the better passer.
