Andrew Miller > Part Deux... (1 Viewer)

Rick Peterson said on the pregame that he was impressed with Miller but he has to pound the strike zone with his fastball

Considering that Wake is what he is and Lackey is a shell of his former self, Miller should be getting regular turns in the rotation.
:goodposting: Starting again vs Astros Saturday Night. Not a bad option if seeking a W and K's and can absorb a little bump in WHIP.Astros K a lot (8th most in the league) while having terrible plate discipline (3rd least walks taken) so there's an opportunity for a good outing for Miller there.

Another quality start by Miller. Now 2-0 with a 3.06 ERA. Not setting the world on fire but doing a very solid job filling a hole in Boston's rotation and he's been a serviceable fantasy starter to boot.

I think the Randy Johnson comparison is a little pre mature. Still has a bright future ahead of him as a Red Sox. :goodposting:

Bostons bats will take some of the pressure off of Miller. As long as he keeps his BBs down Miller should be a solid starter for the Sox.

I think he finally found his role as a LOOGY and a short reliever who can be devastating vs lefties, while throwing that nasty hook to righties. He just doesn't have the control or mindset to be a starter, sure did take a long time to figure that out.

And soon as I wrote this he allows a double to Andrew Jones, then proceeds to the bench and is yucking it up with Salty and others as Aceves warms up. Jones scores on the next pitch, tie game. lol

I'd say this was more Bobby V being bad at his job, but you have to leave Miller in there to face Jones. He was throwing well, and with the short porch in Right, and Ibanez at Giardi's disposal.... I leave him in there. However, I would have sent Padilla out there for Martin. Padilla makes batters uncomfortable because he's such a headhunter. Aceves comes in in the 9th.

The hit wasn't the issue, it was him telling jokes on the bench as soon as he came out after allowing the double and the inning still going. Boston media is gonna rape him tomorrow.
