Android 4.4.4 is OUT (1 Viewer)

Nexus 5 just upgraded to 4.4.3

92MB download.

No major changes that Ive noticed, but it supposed to improve the radio, wifi connection and other bugs.

Dialer is different and other small visual changes.

Phone seems a TAD bit smoother (which may just be my imagination, as the phone was lightening fast to start with)

Will update battery life etc in the future.

EDITED TO ADD NOTE AND CHANGE TITLE:

Nexus devices are now updating to Android 4.4.4

security fixes, and a radio fix which apparently makes signal/wifi much better and some users claiming call quality is phenomenally crystal clear

Should get your update over the next week or two

I hope this doesn't come mess up my GS3 like the latest update.
I doubt the S3 will get this update... and if it does, it likely wont be for a looooong time. In fact, I dont think the S3 is even on Kit Kat yet.. is it?

Nexus updates are direct from Google. Other phones get updates from your cell provider.

What version in the S3 on now?

I'm amazed my Moto RAZR M got KitKat. Makes it much easier to keep it for the 2nd year of my 2yr Verizon contract.

Just got it on my nexus 4. I haven't noticed anything different yet
Yep.

It's basically the final Kit Kat update to fix bugs, for the most part. Not going to notice much change, but the dialer is definitely different.

4.5 is supposed to be a whole new OS (will run on ART, not dalvik) and will be released in a half year or so, I imagine.

Night Update:

14hrs on 4.4.3 so far. 17hrs total up time today.

45% battery remaining.

2hr 32min screen on time.

I find using the "ok google" search is MUCH snappier. overall everything seems much snappier, and battery life seems a bit better as well.

signal strength has also increased and remained more stable.

main plus for me has been call quality sounds MILES better for me... it's the most noticeable part of this update in my eyes

Really like this build.

How do you know. I think my phone dled something last night
is this a Q or a statement?

click settings.

scroll to the bottom

click "about phone"

look at what version android it says
thanks. It says 4.4.2
click "check for updates"

you'll most likely have one now, or in the very near future... rolls out over a week or so to different devices
i have the nexus 5 and have 4.4.2 ... i just checked for updates and it said my phone was up to date.

hopefully, it will just auto update at some point.

Same with my LG G2

My Nexus 7 is the same way.

Its rolled out incrementality. No idea how exactly.

I don't know about it for the Nexus 4 but I figured it would be much better than it is. It's appalling. I'm trying to switch phones and services because of it.

For those of you NOT getting the updates on Nexus 5, it rolls out over about a one week period or so to a block of IMEI's.

Some get it day 1, some get it day 7.... just the luck of the draw, I guess.

They will update... Your phone should check automatically, but if not, manually do it 1-2x a day.

Love this update so far. Really do.

ps: Nexus devices are ALWAYS the first to update - that's the point of a Google phone. some of you will wait weeks or even months on end to get this.

Nexus is a "test line" for updates

Same here - ting service (sprint platform).

Your service provider plays NO PART in getting the 4.4.3 update if you are a Nexus user.

Nexus updates are sent directly from Google.

Other phones are at the mercy of their provider.

What is appalling about it? I received the update for the Nexus 4. Can't really comment on improvements in battery life or anything, but I haven't noticed any negative changes.

Got the upgrade this week on Nexus 5. It's fine, but not thread-worthy.
Some folks had major issues w 4.4.2, some of the bugs were pretty bad.

This update is the cure to many issues such as loss of signal, bad wifi connection, sim card errors etc.

While the "skin" of the OS isnt much different, but it's a big deal for bug fixes and small improvements.

Same here. Just checked

Its got a bug I'm already experiencing. I had ZERO bugs on 4.4.2 also.

Its like this... if I'm in my browser and then I hit the home key to back out, go and do something else, like a game, or tapatalk, when I back out of that with the back key, it keeps flashing my browser page really quickly before bringing up my home page.

Its not a major inconvience, but its stupid and annoying.

This is on a Nexus 4.

They're usually pretty good about these things, so expect 4.4.3.1 in 2 weeks imo.

ha, you know what... I noticed this too, but thought I had maybe just left my browser open.

weird.

Have noticed the same thing on my Nexus 7 and Moto X sometimes as well, both are on 4.4.2. Does it every once in awhile with the Dialer too on my Moto X.

I got it less than 24 hours after release, loving having a Google Play Edition device now. HTC One m7. Haven't had any issues yet, it seems to be really stable.

What version in the S3 on now?
S3 on Verizon, Still on Jelly Bean. I'm guessing Verizon never pushes KitKat to the S3.

I have the same phone and got the update.

What does Google Play device mean?

I got my update. When you get it there will be a notification that stays up in the bar at the top...don't think it'll go away til you install it.

still nothing?

have you tried manually looking for the update? I assume yes...

It'll come. It's just playing hard to get
Can I manually update?
you can, but I dont recommend it. If you go to the xda forums for Nexus 5 it gives instuction on how to do so... but you'll literally get the update in the next days, so I wouldnt risk it.

still no update for me. on a nexus 5.
soon.

------------------

you guys are clicking "check for updates" right? The phone does it automatically, but it does so once a day or something... id click it just to see, that's how I got mine

Mine seems to check a few times a day, and I've done it too. Still nothing.
