great mock so far, andy...
breaking down team needs with crystalline lucidity, as always...
also, really liking the team colors incorporated into the team pick/player announcements...
i do think the dolphins will take chris long at 1.1, obviously the key is their evaluation of beck... if the first pick is different, that could set the dominos tumbling later on down the line...
IF ryan goes first, i think rams are looking at chris & jake long, as well as dorsey... dorsey scares me with the potential medical red flags... if it were me, i probably take howie's son, but i'll be thrilled with either pick, as either could make the team better for years, & look like impact players (at impact positions)... if i'm right, dolphins take chris long, & rams front office/coaching staff draft war room don't have to agonize over THAT decision (though maybe they do after jake long or dorsey)...
if MIA takes chris long & STL jake long, i think ATL grabs matt ryan... if first two picks are chris long & dorsey, than i could easily see ATL taking jake long to help with their new power rushing attack, with "the burner" as focal point... certainly landing the QB of future in draft (if they take ryan) & RB of future in free agency would be a coup, as well, and help the falcons fan base put the nightmarish '07 season behind them...
no idea what raiders do (figuring them out is a more odious task than even pats)? DT would make sense... they already have some pretty good players on second & third level of defense... dorsey would make nice replacement for sapp's skill set, OAK has strong ties to USC program so ellis makes sense... which is exactly why i predict in a different direction... d-mac fulfills al's need for speed, & could take some pressure off the development of the young QB... off field concerns & character questions, some say... BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA! though not nearly as big or strong, mcfadden may remind count chocula of another playmaking RB in black & silver with explosive burst, suddenness & acceleration who could take it to the house on any given play... bo jackson... with peterson's success last year as runaway ROY, this may be tipping point for davis (though it is true they aren't same player, mcfadden can still be extremely explosive in his own way...
if jake long somehow escapes clutches of STL & ATL (they take dorsey, ryan?), his going to KC would be one of the easier projections of the entire draft...
* while fargas was re-signed, i don't think he got THAT much money, and since there are some questions about whether mcfadden could withstand the punishment associated with the rigors of playing RB in NFL, they might be needed complements (fargas also comes with WELL deserved attendant durability concerns)...
