Angelo Crowell? (1 Viewer)

If this needs to be moved to Assistant Coach I understand, but I wanted to gauge some Shark opinion in this forum about a trade I just made.

I gave up- Larry Foote, 5.6, 6.31, 6.32

for

Angelo Crowell, 5.24, 7.30;

BTW- this is a 32 team IDP league. I'm a Rookie and trying to rebuild a franchise. I don't plan to make any more moves now b/c I'm back down to 8 picks (after being up to 12 picks; 8 round draft).

My Roster now-

Davis, Stephen STL RB

Holmes, Priest KCC RB

Booker, Marty MIA WR

Copper, Terrance NOS WR

Williams, Reggie JAC WR

Brown, Alex CHI DE

Hali, Tamba KCC DE

Carpenter, Bobby DAL LB

Colvin, Rosevelt NEP LB

Foote, Larry PIT LB (just traded for Angelo Crowell)

Johnson, Landon CIN LB

Newman, Terence DAL CB

Phillips, Jermaine TBB S

Rhodes, Kerry NYJ S

The italicized players were on the roster when I took it over. The bolded players are moves that I've made. We can only keep 8 (either 4/4 off/def; or 5/3). I expect to keep 5 DEF players- Rhodes, Phillips, Johnson, Crowell, Hali; prob. Booker, Copper (maybe Davis if there is a realistic shot of being SJAX's b/u), and Williams.

Year 2007 Draft Pick 2.17

Year 2007 Draft Pick 2.19

Year 2007 Draft Pick 2.27

Year 2007 Draft Pick 4.17

Year 2007 Draft Pick 4.19

Year 2007 Draft Pick 5.06 (down graded to 5.24

Year 2007 Draft Pick 6.19

Year 2007 Draft Pick 6.31 (traded away in AC deal)

Year 2007 Draft Pick 6.32 (traded in AC deal)

Year 2007 Draft Pick 7.30 (received in AC deal)

Only players taken from 4th round on are eligible to be kept. Obviously if I could have traded for a starting RB or a top-notch WR I would have. They weren't there to have for what I could give. I've decided to focus on improving DEF this year and do some major work on offense next year.

What do you think? Hoping for some advice, encouragement, critique (expected)... Thanks

Before anyone answers, we will need to know your starting requirements, roster size, rounds in draft.
32 Teams- NFLFFL11 Starters-1 Team QB; 1 RB; 1 WR/TE; 2 Flex Offensive Players (RB/WR/TE); 1 Team PK = 6 Offense

1 DL; 1 LB; 1 DB; 2 Flex Defensive Players (LB/DL/DB) = 5 Defense

16 Players on Roster (5 Bench)

8 Rounds in Draft- (have to pare down to 8 players before draft)

From our rules:

"Keepers: Team owners may carry over 8 players each season. The 8 players will consist of 3 offensive players (RBs/WRs/TEs only), 3 defensive players (any), and 2 of either offense or defense. The players that are carried over must have been drafted after the third round of the previous years annual draft. The team that picks last in the draft will have the first chance at the keeper players in the fourth round. Owners must notify the commissioner which 8 players he/she wants to keep by a date to be determined, usually the first week in August.

The roster limit is 16 for each team. There are no limits on the number of RBs, WR/TEs, DL, LBs, or DBs you can have, as long as you have enough players to satisfy the starting line-up requirement.

You may not have more than 1 Team QB and 1 Team PK on your roster at any time. At the same time you may have no less than 1 of each at any time after the annual draft."

Thanks, but I already read the stuff about Crowell. I mean he is an upgrade over Foote, isn't he? That's what I'm getting at. There's not a lot available in a 32 team league that's not over-priced. Most want early picks, especially if they're going to make a run at the championship. Do you think I made a good deal?I'm in rebuilding mode and feel pretty good about what's been done so far. Just looking for ideas or suggestions as I continue to try to improve the team.

He is only an upgrade over Foote if Posluszny does not take MLB

I disagree with this. Crowell as a 3 down playmaking SLB is going to be worth than Foote. Foote may be the odd man out in 4-3 looks, which makes this a slam dunk imo. Crowell was on his way to matching his 2005 numbers before going on IR in December last year (missing 4 games), and he still almost outscored Foote last year despite the fact that Foote played 16 games.

IIRC Crowell was playing WLB to Spikes SLB. This year Crowell will be SLB or MLB. Spikes was not a tackle machine when on the firld

Spikes was still not completely himself, but if you project out his numbers over a full season, they still almost equal Foote's numbers from last year. When you add in Crowell's playmaking ability and the fact that Spikes wasn't playing in the nickel until after Crowell's injury, I still don't see Foote outpointing Crowell in almost any scenario where Crowell stays healthy. Crowell also has the upside of moving to the middle if Puz gets hurt or plays poorly in his rookie year.
