Since it looks like Ellison is locking himself into the WLB position in Buffalo, will Crowell still be a viable IDP LB option as the SLB? Is Ellison the LB to have in Buffalo for this season?

Since it looks like Ellison is locking himself into the WLB position in Buffalo, will Crowell still be a viable IDP LB option as the SLB? Is Ellison the LB to have in Buffalo for this season?

There are a few threads on this and many think he is still a good playmaker even on the strong side. Ellison missed a few tackles last week and didn't look that good to me.

I think Crowell is the most likely candidate to play in the nickel and dime packages with Ellison and Posluzny competing over the other nickel spot. If Crowell never leaves the field, he should produce just fine due to all the extra snaps. He's more of a big play guy anyway so his value doesn't rely as much on raw tackles.

I don't think he'll be a top-15 type of LB but he could certainly finish among the top-30 or so in most systems.
