Angerer Foot Injury (1 Viewer)

Inside linebacker Pat Angerer was the first Colts regular to leave the lineup with an injury, and his foot problem might be serious."We're hoping and praying it's nothing too serious but, again, once we get the (magnetic resonance imaging) results back, then we'll know more," coach Chuck Pagano said.Angerer, the team's top 2011 tackler with 146 stops, was injured during the game's opening series.

If you'll pardon the cross-pollination from Twitter...

The news on Pat Angerer will put a still brighter spotlight on the quietly impressive Jerrell Freeman at ILB.

Reports on Freeman from camp have been very good. Replaced Kavell Conner in nickel packages yesterday, then stepped in base for Angerer.

Conner not as impressive as stats would suggest and Freeman had a very nice CFL resume.

Expect Conner and Freeman to play every down while Angerer out. Could be very interesting to see how it shakes out when Angerer back.

For my #IDP brethren, it may be hard to move on Freeman. MFL doesn't have him in the database yet.

Colts may open job to competition, but it was competition Freeman was already winning. Could be LB3 or better if confirmed ev-down starter.

Wonder when Freeman gets added to MFL player pool? As an Angerer owner, I'm ready to pounce on Freeman --especially since Conner's already owned in that league anyway.

Who is the better pickup now, Freeman or Conner? Does this bump Conner a bit higher? Does Freeman have a chance at Angerer's numbers?

I definitely think Angerer is a unique talent, and the chances of the next guy in line putting up his numbers are slim IMO. That being said, they (Indy D) will likely be on the field a lot this year so there's some possibility there for sure. And on a side note Freeman has been added to the MFL player database.

Hmmm...new coach, new scheme...

Wonder if Angerer's future with the team is very stable? I'm always leery of guys getting hurt when they have a new regime in town. They tend to fall out of favor and the new coach wants "his" guys of course.

His contract is dirt cheap and I believe he's a FA after 2013. What if he doesn't get a new deal?

I know...raining on the parade.

Also, the local radio stations here in Indy are pimping Freeman. Sounds like he'll be worth a stash.

Definitely agree with some of that and there is always that chance with a new coaching staff. I do think since Angerer is young and talented, he will stick around, but you never can tell in the NFL. Good points though Warpig.

Did Freeman play against Pitt?
He sure did. I was just about to post how invisible he was. Guy was no where to be found. On the other hand, Kavell Connor was every where! Not sure how many tackles he was actually credited with, but he was constantly in the pile. To my eyes, it looks like Connor is the play to have in Angerer's absence.

Dang, wish I would've been able to see the game. I think there is going to be great value with whichever one takes the job.

Kavell is the other starter at ILB I thought? Freeman is the one that will be filling in for Angerer while injured. Freeman had a big fat zero in the stat sheet last night and he played at least the entire 1st half. From what I saw, Freeman was always late to the party. Either his instincts are lacking or he was getting blocked out. Neither help his appeal.

I saw Freeman make a few plays, while he didn't blow me away he seemed to be around the ball quite a bit.

NFL.com is showing Freeman with 3 solo's, two in the 1Q and one in the 2Q
Didn't get to watch it live, but I noticed nothing in the stat sheet Sunday night for him, but watched most the game today and saw him with at least a couple solo's and should have had a couple of assists also.

Freeman hung with Chris Rainey in pass coverage, typified for me why Indy already had him playing in their sub packages before Angerer's injury.

I rarely ever go to NFL.com since their site is hardly ever current. I went to CBS sportsline Monday morning and he had 0 tackles according to their site. He must have made tackles when I turned my head or after the 1st half. When I saw him it was always when people were piling off of the tackle and he would run in to help lift people up.

CBS messed up on this game. They do not list Freeman in the D-stats at all, but if you look here: http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/gametracker/playbyplay/NFL_20120819_IND@PITyou clearly will see they list him with tackles in the 1st quarter.

Cool. CBSSports isn't showing him with anything.
