Just found out through a guy's girlfriend that he's been studying that "drafter dominator thingy" 24/7!!! I thought I was the only guy in our league with it... and now, for the life of me, can't seem to get my mind around how this could affect my draft.

Was thinking we might be fighting for the same players and this could hurt?? Or that the drop off predictions would be more accurate and that could help?? Or perhaps nothing would change??

Getting a headache thinking about it.....anyone else already thought this through??

Holla,

Bill

3 people in our league use it and I don't feel that it hurts much, but I also don't just go with default settings. I tweak DD so that it uses a custom ADP based on draft history and you may also have a different VBD baseline. I should also mention that 6 people use FBG projects in our league as well, and I do use that as a way to know what they may be looking at. I feel I have more value in knowing the draft patterns of my league members, than worry about how DD could affect things.

Just make sure he is setup as an "expert" in the config screens, and he'll pick according to FBG projections. You'll should be able to get a good idea of what he's looking at and thinking for upcoming rounds. I think it helps.

In my 12 team league there are at least 6 guys who use DD. I never worry about it. First, it is a great tool but I tweak every projection in it based upon my research. Second, you still have to draft he players and if you blindly follow the DD then so be it.

The bottom line is that the Draft Dominator should be used as a guide. I had another person using the DD in my draft because I let him use it. The only thing I noticed was that he had a much better draft this year. I used the DD exclusively and I must say that I was very impressed. The DD is great if you have members in your league that are sticklers to a 60 second time clock. Also, with the DD, you are not going to have to sit there with 12 different cheatsheets or magazines. It keeps the information very organized, and this will be the only way I draft from now on.

My team drafted with DD on August 20th. (1st player listed equals my first round selection) PPR, 1 qb, 2rbs, 2wrs, 1 flex, 1 te, 1 k, 1 d. 15 rounds for the draft.

Adrian Peterson

Reggie Wayne

Terrell Owens

Jason Witten

Tony Romo

Ray Rice

Cedrick Benson

Leon Washington

Donald Brown

Chrisy Henry

Peyton Hillis

Jason Elam

Leron Mclain

Michael Crabtree

Don't get me wrong, you have a sound team, but it looks like a pretty standard draft...how did this draft dominator thing help you?

Helps. You know what the other guy is thinking and can plan accordingly (especially in later rounds)

Plus you have the knowledge that he may know what you are thinking, so you need to smoke screen well, lean on him in rades when you see the guy he's DYING for.

Use the fact that he is using the DD to your advantage to predict where he will go next. Just cause he has the DD does not mean he has taken the time to ID sleepers, tweak projections, etc.

Ive played with it, its great for new folks to use if they are overwhelmed. I applaud the effort of the DD and find it does absolutely nothing for me. In fairness I am like a lot of folks who don't even bring cheat sheets to a draft anymore, there is no need to at this point for me personally.

Lol...well, glad to know that there is about as much a consensus in the shark pool as in my own head.....voting is currently pretty much dead even.

Must say I liked the thought that I has a little something "extra" over the other owners going into the draft. And bet that mofo grabs Josh Morgan late--two picks before I was gonna take him!!!

If you and he are both using FBG's projections rather than your own... then as others have said, you'll probably have a good idea who he'll draft which can help you.

But depending on how good of an owner he was, he may also have a lot better draft just from using DD, which then hurts you.

I couldn't really say with any confidence which will win out. But if I had my choice of everyone in my league using DD or no one using it but me, I would definitely choose no one using it. I see way too many laughably bad picks even from owners who should know better, to ever want to see them sticking more strongly with DD. Even if they are using it too literally, picking everything from the cheatsheet, not customizing baselines intelligently, it would still improve most of their drafts.

If you're just using the DD stock without putting any time and effort into customizing it to your own opinions, then having someone else using the DD will hinder you (since you're both essentially thinking with the same brain and competing for the exact same players).

If you actually put in the time and effort to tweak projections, make notes about players, and form your own opinions, then having someone else using the DD will help you (since you know what they're thinking, and they have no clue what you're thinking).

Anyone answering something other than "hurts you" is over-complicating this, or is stupid.

A guy using DD, even in an idiotic fashion, is typically going to have a better draft than a guy who isn't. The better people around you pick, the worse the talent available is at your pick. Sure you might get a little boost seeing what they're doing, but this isn't a poker game, it's a draft and the most important question by far is "How good is the available talent when it's your turn to pick?"

Also all these posts of "just because he has DD doesn't mean he knows how to pick late round/find sleepers/plan a draft etc, etc, etc" don't make any logical sense. He didn't know how to do that before either. The question is not "are you better than him?" it's "does this hurt you?" The clear answer is no, he's not on equal footing with you by any means, but yes he is better off than he was and you are worse off than you were.

This is what I am thinking also, decent team above, but nothing special, how did DD help?

3 other guys use it...and they draft by it straight.

I only use it preseason to fool around with stuff.

When it comes time to draft, it is a good players taken tracker, but I want my players, not the computers players.

KB,is there a link or suggestions on how to tweak the custom ADP? I have tons of data, but don't know how to best use it to modify the DD.thanks,
