Another Photographer Thread - Where to Shoot on Vacation (1 Viewer)

On The Rocks

I know there is the "Digital Camera Pic of the Day" thread and the "DSLR Guys" thread. Both are great. The DSLR thread is more of consultation and advice column, and if you like photography the DCPotD thread has some great images.

But I was hoping to get a thread started that provides tips on specific locations for travel photography.

For example - we recently traveled to Austin and wanted to get shots of the Bats coming out from under the Congress St. Bridge. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g30196-d106309-Reviews-Congress_Avenue_Bridge_Austin_Bats-Austin_Texas.html but by the time the bats were coming out, I realized I was in what turned out to be the worst location.

Or - if there is a place you've always thought you would like to travel to and when you got there, you discovered photography is now prohibited. If that has happened to you, please let us know.

For example - You are permitted to take shots outside in the main courtyard of the Alamo, but inside the bldgs - where some other items of interest are on display - you cannot.

You want to share with someone the best way to capture images of fireworks - post it here.

You want to share how to capture great images of a harvest moon, share it here.

OK....so to kick things off, I'd like to know if anyone has done any shooting at Coney Island? I know that's sort of random but it's a place I've wanted to go, and I'm wondering if anyone is aware of any photography regulations and if anyone has a suggestion as to a great spot to set up for early evening shots?
