Another Shady Commissioner Story (1 Viewer)

Pretty casual neighborhood league, $50 buy-in. This is my third year in it. As you might imagine the mix of owners runs the gamut from hardcore types to the guy that blurted out "Rex Grossman" in the first round his first year playing (no kidding).

Anyway, in 2007, the top 4 teams made the postseason, and the playoffs ran week 14-15. (Commissioner finished 1st in the reg season that year.)

In 2008, the Commish finished 6th in the reg season, and suddenly the top 6 teams made the postseason (weeks 14-16). He swears the group voted to expand from 4 to 6 at the draft that September. For the life of me I don't recall that happening, but it's plausible.

Now here heading into week 14 of 2009, the commish is sitting in 7th place, one game out of the final playoff spot. Wouldn't you know, the league website is set up for a full slate of regular-season games this week! Apparently now the playoffs begin with week 15.

Amazing how that works huh?

Well, if he changed it recently ...... wouldn't that show up on your league homepage? Same with league vote thing...and did you really wait until week 14 to look at the playoff structure in 2008?

This happened in my neighborhood league this year too. First it was week 15, 16. Then suddenly changed to week 14, 15, 16. Then again, it changes to 15, 16, and 17. He's making these changes in season. The league is easy money (in two years I've lost three games) so I'm not sure if I should quit or not.

He changed the website last year right before week 14. If pressed on it I'm sure he would say he was too busy or forgot to make the switch or whatever.Right now as we speak, the website says "Playoffs start in Week 15 and last for 2 Weeks", which is clearly wrong because he's already emailed the league to lay out a three-week playoff schedule (standard 3v6 and 4v5 the first week, then winners play 1 and 2 the second week, then winners play in the championship the third week). So in the next week he'll go in and change that.The point being, looking at what the website says doesn't get you too far.
