Anthony Gonzalez and future value (1 Viewer)

I Am Rick James

Did a search and came up with little info on Anthony Gonzalez. I have looked at the dynasty rankings as well but I want to know more detail. I think I can buy low on him right now.

What kind of athlete is he?

What are his strengths and/or weaknesses?

Does he have what it takes to replace Marv in the next 2 years?

Assuming he does, will he be a stud, or some lesser version that isn't fantasy worthy?

Will he be a good PPR WR?

Red zone potential?

It seems like he runs good routes and is a decent athlete. He didn't look like he had the best hands in the world in week 1 (a couple of easy drops) but that could be rust. I think he'll always be a middling WR in PPR and probably never a superstar in nonPPR.

Agree with Mookie. Good WR2/3 in PPR leagues, but much less valuable in non-PPR. This whole Colts juggernaut won't last forever and Gonzo just doesn't appear to be a special talent.

I personally don't view Gonzalez as a top-30 WR in dynasty leagues right now. I think Marvin's game is based on route running and timing with Manning. Harrison could still have 2-3 more top-20 seasons left in him ala Rod Smith circa 2003. If anything Harrison is a good buy-low and Gonzalez is a good sell high if someone thinks the #2 job will be his sometime this season.

I haven't been extremely impressed with AG, but he is a capable NFL WR. He fits the Colts scheme well, and as long as Peyton is throwing him the ball, the top 30 upside is there. With that being said, I wouldn't be shocked if the Colts draft a better talent and push AG to the Stokely(04-05) role...

AG is already the Stokely role. He is the slot receiver. Dallas in hurt this week look for more 3 W formations with TE as blocker. They may have the next WR on roster in Pierre Garcon if he develops or if not they draft to replace Marvin. Last year he showed good routes and handes fro a rookie. In preseason he showed nice development. Make your assessment and take your chances.

So he hasn't impressed enough to seem "special". Did the Colts expect more from him when the drafted him 32nd overall? Or does he just need more time and more opportunity? This is the first I have heard about Pierre Garcon. Where did he come from and what is his potential?
