Anthony Gonzalez arthroscopic knee surgery (1 Viewer)

Does he get his job back when he's healthy? Collie and Garcon have been filling in nicely and I imagine Gonzalez will need another 2 weeks to knock the rust off and get his conditioning where it needs to be once he's healthy again.

Do any of these three stand out over the other two, or are they all interchangeable?

This is where real life football and fantasy football separate. The Colts are preparing to hopefully have him for the playoffs, maybe the end of the regular season to work him in some snaps. I wouldn't count on AG being anything useful in terms of FF. But that's my opinion, obviously.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Anthony Gonzalez will officially be out another 2-to-3 weeks after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery on Thursday.

I was bummed but not surprised to see this. Given that it was a non-contact injury and he was already slow to come back. I would expect Gonzalez might be back for the post season, but don't expect to see him before the end of Fantasy Season.Last year (or year before? don't recall now) I held Marvin Harrison until week 11 or 12 when they finally said he wasn't coming back. Very frustrating.

I've had a bad feeling about this ever since Week 1.

It's just like Marvin Harrison 2 years ago.

You hold on to the guy all season because he "might be back".

Collie and Garcon both look capable.

Indy is doing fine without him, so who knows what happens if/when he returns.

:deadhorse: There's no need for the Colts to rush him back and it seems like his knee injury was a little worse than they let on.

A second surgery ? Wow, this is a bad deal for AG, I really like the kid, but the Colts have not missed a beat

without him. Tough to gauge his value now, dynasty wise. Maybe on par with Mike Wallace / Kenny Britt / Steve Breaston ?

In a dynasty I would not trade either of those guys for him, the emergence of "other options" for the colts is very telling as to AG's future.

I totally agree. Picked him up a couple weeks ago to stash and wait, but I'm gonna bail and eat the waiver $ as a bad bet. Oh well, win some, lose some ...

I think if people have a week 17 championship, I might hold onto him. I also might keep him if I had a good record and could afford to do so. But if you need to make moves and win now, cutting bait is likely the play.

One has to start questioning the medical staff there now when Harrison's return and AG have both taken so long from first reports. Either they are not coming forward with true estimates on injuries or they don't make good decisions on how to most quickly get players back.

IMO this is what we have here....

RotoWire) Gonzalez (knee) did not participate in Wednesday's practice, the team's official web site reports.

Analysis: He underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee on Nov. 6 and was expected to miss an additional two to three weeks, but there's been no sign of his return. With the Colts likely clinching a playoff spot early, there's no reason to rush him back ... and it's still possible he may not return at all this season.

I have kept him this long, but not so sure anymore.

Is hw worth a rostor spot??

NFL.com's Jason La Canfora reports that Anthony Gonzalez has a "chance" to return in Week 12 against the Texans.

La Canfora confirms the obvious -- that Gonzo won't play Sunday against the Ravens -- but says he is "expected" to resume practicing next week. Gonzalez would be just three weeks removed from knee surgery in Week 12

This is the full spiel on Rotoworld:NFL.com's Jason La Canfora reports that Anthony Gonzalez has a "chance" to return in Week 12 against the Texans.

La Canfora confirms the obvious -- that Gonzo won't play Sunday against the Ravens -- but says he is "expected" to resume practicing next week. Gonzalez would be just three weeks removed from knee surgery in Week 12, so the Colts definitely wouldn't immediately reinsert him into the starting lineup. We'd bet heavily against him helping anyone in the fantasy playoffs as well. Nov. 20 - 12:34 pm et

However, on Rotoworld's Goal Line Stand:

Manning has played his three worst games of the season in a row, with a lot of wacky looking un-Manning-like passes. Of course, he continues to put up big numbers. But the young Colts receivers are fading just slightly, so it's not a crazy time to sell high on Manning if you get another top-10 QB and good value at other positions thrown in. (emphasis added)

So if Garcon and Collie are hitting a rookie wall, perhaps the Colts are looking for Gonzalez to inject some energy into a slightly slumping passing game. If so, and he does come back in Week 12, he could be a potential band aid for those who lost Dwayne Bowe for the next 4 games.
