Surprised that there's been so little discussion about this guy. 2-6 weeks is a long time in fantasy. Is he worth the stash...or is it better to move on, but keep up to date on him and pick him up early if things appear to be improving.

I'm hearing from his injury from initial reaction is quite serious. Don't want to miss out on the waiver talent, waiting for him. However, I do really like him, I drafted him as a number 2. Now if I didn't also draft Desean Jackson (injury to McNabb) I would just hold out.

What are other owners doing...?

Sounds like the injury is pretty serious and the Colts have a promising young WR in Garcon to take his spot. If Garcon performs, who knows what role Gonzalez will have if he doesn't get back until week 7 or 8?

already dropped him and picked up donnie avery in my league. I'm assuming he is gonna be out 6 weeks.

I dropped him already and someone in my league actually dropped Eddie Royal so I just grabbed him off waivers. Turned out to be actually an upgrade for me injury or not.

Dropped and picked up Nate Burleson and Mark Clayton. I can't wait half the fantasy year for a #2 receiver coming off a pretty serious knee injury. That being said - it all depends on roster sizes. We only carry 14, so I can't have dead weight on my roster for that long.

Isn't this a function of knowing more abotu the injury (degree of tear/sprain) and how long he'll be out?

If it's confirmed 2-3 weeks, then hold.

If it's confirmed 4-6 weeks, then drop.

I'm holding until I know more about the injury.

Curious to see how many of you that dropped him are in keeper leagues. I burned a fairly high pick on him, but he is my #4 WR and I only have to start 2 if I want. I could really use the cap space to try to find a WW gem, but I don't want to drop him if he's gonna be back in 3 weeks...

In a keeper I think you have to hold him.

Even if he has no chance of being kept by me? I've got Roddy, Marshall & Calvin ahead of him. I can start 2 WR 2 RB or 3 WR 1 RB

I'm guessing, with their bye in week 6, they'll bring him back after the bye @ StL in week 7. That would be 6 weeks. Then he'll have a pretty easy schedule the rest of the year. In the league where I have him, I'm going to hold him. We have fairly deep rosters, and I have 3 other WR's to fill in for him (Burleson, Steve Smith--NYG, and Ginn). Nothing on waivers would likely improve my team enough for the 2-3 weeks at most I might start someone different in that spot (after this week there will likely only be 3 games missed, and I'm not starting someone off waivers over those other guys this week). Gonzalez will likely be my WR2 when he comes back healthy, and should be strong in the playoffs. He should give me 10 good weeks including playoffs, even assuming he misses 6 weeks. Sprained ligaments should heal completely without further degradation of play, unlike something like a hamstring.

I guess I was really thinking of a dynasty. Do whatever you'd do in a redraft in your situation.

Holding for now, although the non-news makes me think he'll be out a MINIMUM of six weeks. I have S. Smith, R. White as starters, and L. Robinson's looking like a solid WR3 (we play flex), so I can afford to be patient for now.

When is the last time a top flight WR went out for 6 games? Colston last year and the SEA WR that was traded to SF (I'm having a hard time thinking of his name). Point is that the initial word is 6 weeks but then it takes a few weeks to get into game shape and work back into the lineup (8 weeks) and then how many weeks before they light it up enough that you have confidence thay they're back? During the time that they're gone the team fills in without them and starts depending on other players. The QB looks to another player as the to to guy or the offensive coordinator changes the entire game plan and plays to feature other players. When this guy comes back he's not your stud anymore for that season that you can rely on. Cut him loose or trade him away cheap now.

Exactly what I am thinking .... I had Colston last year and I can't put up with another year of this crap. I'm trying to trade him but if I can't I'm just going to dump him.

Colston was pretty damn great about a week after he was back through the rest of the season. 658 yds 5 tds in final 8 games, and he returned one game earlier. I traded for him when he was hurt last year, let him ride my bench most of the season, and then he was my no. 1 from week 10 on. But the point is well taken and Gonzalez is no Colston.
